Abstract

Videoanwendungen, die auf einzelne Segmente eines kodierten Mediums zugreifen, benötigen Informationen über die Struktur der Daten. Um diese Strukturinformation zu erhalten, müssen kodierte Videodaten geparst werden. Diese Informationen werden üblicherweise nicht persistent gehalten, was bei einem wiederholten Zugriff ineffizient ist. Dieser Artikel beschreibt die Integration eines MPEG-Parsers in ein erweiterbares Datenbankmanagementsystem. Dadurch werden Funktionen für den Zugriff auf inhaltsbezogene Daten wie auch grundlegende Funktionen zum Extrahieren von Datenströmen oder Dekodieren einzelner Bilder als Datenbankfuntionalität zur Verfügung gestellt. Dieses sogenannte MPEG-DataBlade bildet die Grundlage für zukünftige Erweiterungen eines MM-DBMS

Abstract

Für Speicherung und Transfer von Wissen setzen Unternehmen neben Textdaten verstärkt auch audio-visuelle Daten ein. Beispiele dafür sind Schulungsvideos für Produktionsanlagen oder Podcasts zu Forschungsthemen. Damit stellt sich die Frage, welche Werkzeuge sich für die Integration von Multimedia-Inhalten in Systeme des Wissensmanagements eignen und wie solche Inhalte in Enterprise-Suchmaschinen eingebunden werden können. Der Beitrag skizziert diesen Ausgangspunkt und gibt eine Übersicht über Anbieter und Werkzeuge zur Erschließung von Bilddaten (z. B. aus Digitalisierungs-Projekten) sowie von audio-visuellen Daten. Er konzentriert sich auf Werkzeuge, die als Software as a Service genutzt werden können und listet Kriterien zur technischen Evaluation solcher Lösungen auf. Der Beitrag basiert auf Beratungs- und Entwicklungsprojekten zu automatischer Medienerschließung, Multimedia Indexing und Enterprise Search.

Abstract

Die Menge an Daten im Internet steigt weiter rapide an. Damit wächst auch der Bedarf an qualitativ hochwertigen Information Retrieval Diensten zur Orientierung und problemorientierten Suche. Die Entscheidung für die Benutzung oder Beschaffung von Information Retrieval Software erfordert aussagekräftige Evaluierungsergebnisse. Dieser Beitrag stellt neuere Entwicklungen bei der Evaluierung von Information Retrieval Systemen vor und zeigt den Trend zu Spezialisierung und Diversifizierung von Evaluierungsstudien, die den Realitätsgrad derErgebnisse erhöhen. DerSchwerpunkt liegt auf dem Retrieval von Fachtexten, Internet-Seiten und Multimedia-Objekten.
