    Abstract
    Dieser Beitrag beleuchtet die Geschichte der Zukunftsforschung in der Bundesrepublik und in den westlichen Industriegesellschaften vom 19. Jahrhundert bis in die Gegenwart. Er charakterisiert die Vorläufer der modernen Zukunftsforschung am Beginn der europäischen "Hochmoderne" um 1900, stellt aber die Formierungs- und Transformationsphase der 1950er- bis frühen 1980er-Jahre in den Mittelpunkt. Zentrale Faktoren für die Konzeptionierung einer Meta-Disziplin Zukunftsforschung waren der Systemwettlauf des Kalten Krieges, welcher der Entwicklung von Methoden der Vorausschau und Planung Dynamik verlieh, und ein teilweise frappantes wissenschaftliches Vertrauen in diese neuen methodisch-theoretischen Zugänge und Techniken der Vorausschau - insbesondere die Kybernetik -, welche die Zukunft prognostizierbar und damit plan- und steuerbar zu machen schienen. Den Kontext bildeten eine gesellschaftliche Aufbruchstimmung und eine hohe politische Technik- und Planungsaffinität der 1960er-Jahre, welche das Verständnis der Zukunftsforschung bestärkten, dass der Mensch aus der Fülle der möglichen Zukünfte wählen und so die Zukunft geradezu frei gestalten könne. Dieses überzogene Machbarkeitsdenken betraf insbesondere die bundesdeutsche Zukunftsforschung. In den 1970er-Jahren wurden allerdings die Grenzen dieses Anspruchs deutlich. In der Folge pragmatisierte sich die Zukunftsforschung in methodischer Hinsicht. Nicht zuletzt trug dieser übersteigerte Machbarkeitsglaube der 1960er-Jahre dazu bei, dass die Zukunftsforschung in der Bundesrepublik lange wenig institutionalisiert war.

    Abstract
    In der Bibliometrie werden meist zwei Größen vermessen: die Anzahl von Publikationen und Zitationen. Publiziert und zitiert haben Menschen bereits sehr früh in der Geschichte. Schon in der Antike sind bei überlieferten Werken Zitationen zu finden. Der englische Begriff "Bibliometrics" selbst wurde aber erst 1969 definiert. In dem folgenden Artikel wird eine kleine Frühgeschichte der Bibliometrie, einer Unterdisziplin der Informationswissenschaft, bis zu diesem wichtigen Jahr anhand von beispielhaften Studien und Arbeiten dargestellt. Es wird auf die Anfänge von Publikationen und Zitationen und den fachlichen Rahmen der Bibliometrie eingegangen. Der Ursprung der Bibliometriegeschichte selbst wird von unterschiedlichen Autoren unterschiedlich früh angesetzt. Die verschiedenen Ansätze werden vorgestellt und diskutiert. Der Artikel schließt mit einer Beschreibung der wachsenden Bedeutung dieses Fachs im heutigen Informationszeitalter.

    Abstract
    Nach 500 Jahren Expansion ist die kapitalistische Megamaschine in die tiefste Krise ihrer Geschichte geraten. Wir bewegen uns in eine chaotische Übergangsphase hinein, die einige Jahrzehnte andauern kann und deren Ausgang vollkommen offen ist. Während die alten Ordnungen brüchig werden, entflammt ein Kampf darum, wer die Zukunft bestimmen wird. Bevorstehende Wellen der Digitalisierung führen zum Ende der Arbeitswelt, wie wir sie seit der Mechanisierung kennen. Dies hat auch einschneidende Folgen für das System der gesellschaftlichen Verteilung. Der Aufstieg Chinas wiederum steht im Zeichen eines geopolitischen Hegemoniewandels, der Europa - wie schon bis zum beginnenden 19. Jahrhundert - an den Rand drängen könnte. All dies sind untrügliche Zeichen einer Neudefinition von Ökonomie und einer Transformation von Staatlichkeit. Fabian Scheidler sieht in seinem neuen Buch "Chaos" darin auch eine Möglichkeit in Hinblick auf eine neue Friedensordnung.

    Abstract
    In seinem Kultbuch Eine kurze Geschichte der Menschheit erklärte Yuval Noah Harari, wie unsere Spezies die Erde erobern konnte. In "Homo Deus" stößt er vor in eine noch verborgene Welt: die Zukunft. Was wird mit uns und unserem Planeten passieren, wenn die neuen Technologien dem Menschen gottgleiche Fähigkeiten verleihen - schöpferische wie zerstörerische - und das Leben selbst auf eine völlig neue Stufe der Evolution heben? Wie wird es dem Homo Sapiens ergehen, wenn er einen technikverstärkten Homo Deus erschafft, der sich vom heutigen Menschen deutlicher unterscheidet als dieser vom Neandertaler? Was bleibt von uns und der modernen Religion des Humanismus, wenn wir Maschinen konstruieren, die alles besser können als wir? In unserer Gier nach Gesundheit, Glück und Macht könnten wir uns ganz allmählich so weit verändern, bis wir schließlich keine Menschen mehr sind.
