- Abstract
- Das World Wide Web (im Folgenden kurz als Web bezeichnet) verwandelt sich seit einigen Jahren von einem Medium der passiven Konsumenten von Inhalten hin zu einem Netz für aktive User, die Weblogs schreiben, in Foren diskutieren oder Podcasts veröffentlichen. Diese User der zweiten Generation gebrauchen das Web zum Gedankenaustausch und knüpfen als Knoten in virtuellen sozialen Netzwerken Beziehungen zu Gleichgesinnten, mit denen sie sich zu virtuellen Communities formieren. Folglich definiert sich die soziale Komponente des Web 2.0 über ein verändertes Verhalten seiner User. Web-2.0-Plattformen sind jedoch vielmehr sozio-technische Artefakte und basieren auf speziellen Anwendungen und Technologien. Erst die technologische Komponente des Web 2.0 ermöglicht, dass die sozialen Prozesse der User unterstützt werden. Der folgende Grundlagenbeitrag stellt wesentliche Anwendungen und Technologien des Web 2.0 vor.

- Abstract
- By the explosion of possibilities for a ubiquitous content production, the information overload problem reaches the level of complexity which cannot be managed by traditional modelling approaches anymore. Due to their pure syntactical nature traditional information retrieval approaches did not succeed in treating content itself (i.e. its meaning, and not its representation). This leads to a very low usefulness of the results of a retrieval process for a user's task at hand. In the last ten years ontologies have been emerged from an interesting conceptualisation paradigm to a very promising (semantic) modelling technology, especially in the context of the Semantic Web. From the information retrieval point of view, ontologies enable a machine-understandable form of content description, such that the retrieval process can be driven by the meaning of the content. However, the very ambiguous nature of the retrieval process in which a user, due to the unfamiliarity with the underlying repository and/or query syntax, just approximates his information need in a query, implies a necessity to include the user in the retrieval process more actively in order to close the gap between the meaning of the content and the meaning of a user's query (i.e. his information need). This thesis lays foundation for such an ontology-based interactive retrieval process, in which the retrieval system interacts with a user in order to conceptually interpret the meaning of his query, whereas the underlying domain ontology drives the conceptualisation process. In that way the retrieval process evolves from a query evaluation process into a highly interactive cooperation between a user and the retrieval system, in which the system tries to anticipate the user's information need and to deliver the relevant content proactively. Moreover, the notion of content relevance for a user's query evolves from a content dependent artefact to the multidimensional context-dependent structure, strongly influenced by the user's preferences. This cooperation process is realized as the so-called Librarian Agent Query Refinement Process. In order to clarify the impact of an ontology on the retrieval process (regarding its complexity and quality), a set of methods and tools for different levels of content and query formalisation is developed, ranging from pure ontology-based inferencing to keyword-based querying in which semantics automatically emerges from the results. Our evaluation studies have shown that the possibilities to conceptualize a user's information need in the right manner and to interpret the retrieval results accordingly are key issues for realizing much more meaningful information retrieval systems.

- Das Internet und besonders das Web 2.0 sind ein Segen für die Meinungsfreiheit, so heißt es: Endlich können alle bestimmen, worüber diskutiert wird - nicht nur wenige Experten, Top-Journalisten und wortgewaltige Autoren, die das Meinungsmonopol für sich beanspruchen. Doch was haben wir uns da eingehandelt? Forumsbeiträge, die vor Dummheit und falschen Fakten strotzen, und an Idiotie kaum zu überbietende Videoclips bei YouTube. Es kommt noch schlimmer: - Politische Splitterparteien und verschrobene Wirrköpfe maskieren sich immer häufiger als harmlose Blogger, um demokratiefeindliche Hetzkampagnen zu verbreiten. Betroffene können sich kaum dagegen wehren. - Unternehmen betreiben auf subtile Weise "virales Marketing", um ihre Produkte von vermeintlich begeisterten Kunden empfehlen zu lassen. - Clevere Lobbyisten mischen sich unter falscher Identität in Diskussionen ein, um ihre fragwürdigen Interessen durchzusetzen. Wir befinden uns auf einem gefährlichen Irrweg, sagt Andrew Keen: Wo Halbwissen und blanke Lügen herrschen statt verlässlicher Information, da fehlt auch die Basis für vernünftige und tragfähige politische Entscheidungen, da ist unsere Kultur in ihren Grundfesten erschüttert. Ein scharf formuliertes Plädoyer gegen die absurden Auswüchse der großen Verdummungsmaschine, die sich Internet nennt.

- Dem neuen Web mal auf die Finger geschaut -- Tom Alby hat sich bereits mit seinem Suchmaschinenoptimierung-Buch einen Namen gemacht und setzt dem Erfolg seines ersten Buches nun mit Web 2.0. Konzepte, Anwendungen, Technologien noch einen drauf. Wie schon bei der Optimierung für Suchmaschinen geht er auch bei seinem Blick auf das Phänomen Web 2.0 ganzheitlich und umfassend an die Arbeit: Ideen, Technik, Umsetzungen, Beispiele, Erfolge, Probleme, Ausblicke und Interviews mit den Machern. Ein Blitzlichtfoto im dunklen Web-Dschungel. Endlich geht es dem Web wieder gut. Alle freuen sich. Die Verlierer werden die Sieger sein. Jetzt wird alles anders. Denn es geht Alby weniger um Technologie und Tools (diese werden aber auch behandelt, eben beispielhaft), sondern vor allem um Konzepte: Was will das Web 2.0 überhaupt und was macht seinen Erfolg aus? Das Buch ist einfach zu lesen, mit zahlreichen Illustrationen bebildert und listet eine Unmenge an online Quellen für eine weitere Vertiefung auf. Doch mit Büchern über das Web ist es genauso wie dem Web selbst: die Halbwertszeit ist sehr kurz. Das gilt insbesondere für die Technik und für mögliche Dienste. Alby hat diesen technischen Zweig der Web 2.0-Geschichte so umfangreich wie für das Verständnis nötig, aus Gründen der Aktualität aber so gering wie möglich ausfallen lassen. Und das ist gut so: dieses Buch können Sie getrost auch in drei Jahren in die Hand nehmen. Es wird zwar andere Dienste geben als im Buch angegeben, und manche Links werden vielleicht nicht mehr funktionieren, die Prinzipien des Web 2.0 bleiben aber dieselben. Sollten Sie sich geändert haben, dann haben wir schon Web 2.x oder gar Web 3.0. Aber das ist eine andere Geschichte, die uns vielleicht Tom Alby zur angemessenen Zeit weitergeben möchte. Ein Bonus, wie ich finde, sind die zahlreichen Interviews, die Tom Alby mit bekannten deutschen Web 2.0 Aushängeschildern geführt hat. - Abstract
- Das Web 2.0 hat auch bei Bibliotheksnutzern zu veränderten Erwartungshaltungen an bibliothekarische Online-Angebote wie die Kataloge geführt. Diese waren lange Zeit statische Nachweisinstrumente, die heutzutage über das Angebot reiner Bestandsverzeichnisse hinausgehend verschiedene Web 2.0-Funktionalitäten sowie Zusatzinformationen mittels Kataloganreicherung integrierten sollten, um den Erwartungen der Nutzer zu genügen. Die Ergebnisse einer Online-Umfrage unter Nutzern einer Großstadtbibliothek unterstreichen dies: die Nutzer wünschen sich vielfältige Browsingmöglichkeiten, Google-ähnliche Suchmöglichkeiten, zusätzliche Inhalte und ein personalisier-bares Angebot. Welche Funktionen und Inhalte sollte ein Bibliothekskatalog im Zeitalter des Web 2.0 bieten? Am Beispiel der Stadtbücherei Frankfurt wird dargestellt wie Prinzipien des Web 2.0 - u.a. Nutzerfreundlichkeit und Kollaboration - auf das Online-Angebot übertragbar sind, ohne dabei den Personalaufwand, die rechtliche Absicherung der Bibliothek und Fragen der technischen Implementierung zu vergessen.

- Abstract
- Mit sozialen Suchdiensten - wie z. B. Yahoo Clever, Lycos iQ oder Mister Wong - ist eine Ergänzung und teilweise sogar eine Konkurrenz zu den bisherigen Ansätzen in der Web-Suche entstanden. Während Google und Co. automatisch generierte Trefferlisten bieten, binden soziale Suchdienste die Anwender zu Generierung der Suchergebnisse in den Suchprozess ein. Vor diesem Hintergrund wird in diesem Buch der Frage nachgegangen, inwieweit soziale Suchdienste mit traditionellen Suchmaschinen konkurrieren oder diese qualitativ ergänzen können. Der vorliegende Band beleuchtet die hier aufgeworfene Fragestellung aus verschiedenen Perspektiven, um auf die Bedeutung von sozialen Suchdiensten zu schließen.

- Dem neuen Web mal auf die Finger geschaut -- Tom Alby hat sich bereits mit seinem Suchmaschinenoptimierung-Buch einen Namen gemacht und setzt dem Erfolg seines ersten Buches nun mit Web 2.0. Konzepte, Anwendungen, Technologien noch einen drauf. Wie schon bei der Optimierung für Suchmaschinen geht er auch bei seinem Blick auf das Phänomen Web 2.0 ganzheitlich und umfassend an die Arbeit: Ideen, Technik, Umsetzungen, Beispiele, Erfolge, Probleme, Ausblicke und Interviews mit den Machern. Ein Blitzlichtfoto im dunklen Web-Dschungel. Endlich geht es dem Web wieder gut. Alle freuen sich. Die Verlierer werden die Sieger sein. Jetzt wird alles anders. Das Blablabla in den Medien klingt ähnlich wie schon zu Zeiten des Web 1.0. Und doch ist es anders. Dazu gehören die einer breiten Nutzerschicht bekannten Anwendungen wie Blogs, RSS oder Wikis, wie auch die weniger bekannte Technologien und Entwicklungskonzepte, wie Ajax (Asynchronous JavaScript and XML), Ruby/ Ruby on Rails. In zehn Kapiteln führt Tom Alby in Konzepte, Anwendungen und Geschäftsmodelle des Web 2.0 ein. Neben technischen Aspekten geht er auch auf die soziologischen und psychologischen Aspekte ein, wenn er beispielsweise fragt "Was motiviert die Benutzer, sich in Social SoftwarePlattformen einzubringen?" (S. 108) Die Antwort leuchtet ein: "Zunächst einmal ist da die Erwartung der Benutzer, etwas für das Gegebene zurückzubekommen: Wer sein Profil mit vielen Informationen bestückt, der hat auch eine Chance, dass das Profil von anderen angesehen und eventuell Kontakt aufgenommen wird. Wer bei Wikipedia sein Wissen einbringt, der weiß auf der anderen Seite, dass er von den Beiträgen anderer profitieren kann. Dies kann auch zu einem wirklichen Gemeinschaftsgefühl führen (...) Auch ein gewisser Stolz, Teil dieser Gemeinschaft zu sein, mag dazu gehören." (S. 108.f) Tom Albys "Web 2.0" zeichnet sich auch durch die vielen Anwendungsbeispielen aus. Ergänzt werden diese durch fünf Interviews mit Praktikern wie Johnny Haeusler von Spreeblick.de oder Vasco Sommer-Nunes und Florian Wilken von blog.de. Ein umfangreiches Glossar und ein umfangreiches Stichwortverzeichnis erleichtern die Handhabbarkeit. Ein weiteres Plus ist die leichte Lesbarkeit, die es auch dem Nicht-Informatiker ermöglicht, die technischen Zusammenhänge zu verstehen. Dem IT-Profi wird "Web 2.0" nicht sehr viel Neues bieten, aber für Agenturen, Designer, Webentwickler, Studierende, Bibliothekarlnnen bietet dieses engagiert geschriebene Buch viel Nützliches."

- Semantische Techniken zur strukturierten Erschließung von Web 2.0-Content und kollaborative Anreicherung von Web Content mit maschinenlesbaren Metadaten wachsen zum Social Semantic Web zusammen, das durch eine breite Konvergenz zwischen Social Software und Semantic Web-Technologien charakterisiert ist. Dieses Buch stellt die technischen, organisatorischen und kulturellen Veränderungen dar, die das Social Semantic Web begleiten, und hilft Entscheidungsträgern und Entwicklern, die Tragweite dieser Web-Technologie für ihr jeweiliges Unternehmen zu erkennen. Social Semantic Web: Web 2.0 - Was nun? ist quasi die 2. Auflage von Semantic Web: Wege zur vernetzten Wissensgesellschaft von 2006, in der jedoch eher die technischen Aspekte im Vordergrund standen - einiges ist seitdem im weltweiten Netz passiert, vor allem mit dem, als Web 2.0 gestempelten Ajax-User-Community-Mix in Verbindung mit dem Semantic Web wurden und werden die Karten an einigen Enden der Datenautobahn neu gemischt - dem tragen Andreas Blumauer und Tassilo Pellegrini mit einem Update ihrer Fachautorensammlung für interessierte Laien und themenfremde Experten in der passenden 2.0-Neuauflage Rechnung.
Thematisch haben die beiden Herausgeber ihre Beitragssammlung in vier Bereiche aufgeteilt: zuerst der Einstieg ins Thema Web 2.0 mit sechs Beiträgen - die Konvergenz von Semantic Web und Web 2.0, Auswirkungen auf die Gesellschaft, Technologien und jeweils die entsprechenden Perspektiven; gute, faktenbasierte Überblicke, die das Buch auf eine solide Grundlage stellen und reichhaltiges Wissen für ansonsten meist oberflächlich geführte Diskussionen zum Thema liefern. Der zweite Themenbereich ist dann den Technologien und Methodem gewidmet: Wie sieht die Technik hinter der "Semantik" im Web aus? Wissensmodellierung, Beispiele wie die Expertensuche, Content Management Systeme oder semantische Wikis. In Teil drei werfen die Autoren dann einen Blick auf bestehende Anwendungen im aktuellen Social Semantic Web und geben einen Ausblick auf deren zukünftige Entwicklungen. Im abschließenden Teil vier schließlich geben die Autoren der drei Beiträge einen Überblick zum "Social Semantic Web" aus sozialwissenschaftlicher Perspektive. Zusammenfassungen am Anfang jedes Beitrags, gute Strukturen zusätzliche Quellen und auch die gut lesbare Länge der Beiträge - angenehme verständlich und konsumierbar. Blumauer und Pellegrini haben auch mit Social Semantic Web: Web 2.0 - Was nun? ganze Arbeit geleistet und ein breites Spektrum an Perspektiven, Meinungen und Quellen zusammengetragen - das Ergebnis ist stellenweise durchaus heterogen und nicht jeder Beitrag muss gefallen, doch das Gesamtergebnis stellt die von den Herausgebern thematisierte heterogene Welt des Social Semantic Web realistisch dar.
