    "Nach dem schlechten Abschneiden deutscher Schüler in der Bildungsstudie Pisa setzt sich der Börsenvereinsvorsitzende des Deutschen Buchhandels, Dieter Schormann, für einen "Runden Tisch" auf Bundesebene mit den Länder-Kultusministern ein. Teilnehmen sollten daran auch Vertreter aus der Wirtschaft, Buchhändler, Verleger, Pädagogen und Bibliothekare, sagte der Gießener Buchhändler. Schormann: "Der Runde Tisch soll Signale setzen. Wir brauchen ein breites gesellschaftliches Bewusstsein für die Bedrohung der Zukunft durch das Bildungsdefizit." Hier seien besonders Politik und Wirtschaft gefordert. Nach der Veröffentlichung der Pisa-Studie hätten gerade Wirtschaftskreise zu viele "Prügel" verteilt. Auch die Unternehmen ständen in der Pflicht, über neue Bildungskonzepte nachzudenken. Laut Pisa-Studie können mehr als ein Fünftel der deutschen Schüler Texte nicht mehr richtig lesen und verstehen. Im "Rausch der Entwicklung rund ums Internet" hätten viele Verantwortliche die "Bodenhaftung" verloren, nannte Schormann dafür als einen Grund. Bücher würden im Schulunterricht inzwischen vielfach durch das Internet ersetzt. Das sei falsch. Schormann: "Alle sagen, Schulen müssen ans Netz. Was bringt das, wenn die Lesekompetenz nicht mehr vorhanden ist, um die neuen Medien zu nutzen?" Viele Kinder würden zudem die Lust am Lesen verlieren, weil die im Unterricht verwendeten Bücher oft veraltet seien"

    Abstract
    Der Beitrag beschreibt die Umstellung der Lehre vom bisherigen Katalogisierungsregelwerk RAK auf den neuen Standard RDA im Studiengang Bibliotheksund Informationsmanagement an der Stuttgarter Hochschule der Medien (HdM). Schon seit langem wurden Informationen zu RDA in den Unterricht integriert. Seit 2014/15 beginnen die Studienanfänger mit RDA; für die "Umsteiger", die noch mit RAK begonnen hatten, gibt es besondere Angebote. Das zugrundeliegende FRBR-Modell stellt die Studierenden kaum vor Probleme. Jedoch lassen sich viele Aspekte von RDA in realen Erfassungsformaten nur schwer erkennen, weshalb im Unterricht teilweise mit formatfreien Katalogisaten in tabellarischer Form gearbeitet wird. Anders als RAK bietet RDA den Katalogisierern viele Ermessensspielraume, worauf man sich im Unterricht einstellen muss. Die älteren Standards RAK und ISBD spielen in der Lehre nur noch eine untergeordnete Rolle.

    Dieser Artikel liefert einen Überblick über die beiden von der Graduate School (USDA) angebotenen Indexierungs-Kurse, die jedes Jahr mehrere Hundert Teilnehmer haben. Diese beiden Kurse sind der populärste Indexierungs-Unterricht in den Vereinigten Staaten und bis vor nicht allzu langer Zeit auch der einzige praxisorientierte, dem eigenen Lerntempo folgende Indexierungs-Unterricht in der englischsprachigen Welt.

    Abstract
    Vermittlung von Informationskompetenz ist nicht nur in Hochschule und Wirtschaft, sondern auch an allgemeinbildenden und beruflichen Schulen von zunehmender Bedeutung. Vermittlungspartner für die Schulen sind primär die Öffentlichen Bibliotheken sowie die Verbände im Bibliotheks- und Informationswesen. In der Vergangenheit haben auch Fachinformationszentren, Verlage, Hosts sowie Content-Anbieter im Rahmen von nationalen Initiativen und Projekten das Recherchieren in elektronischen Informationsquellen durch Lehrer und auch Schüler gefördert. Dieser Beitrag soll den Stand dieser Initiativen in Deutschland beleuchten und das Potenzial für eine Ausdehnung auf mehr Schulen abschätzen. Zu klären ist die Bedeutung der Informationskompetenz im Kanon weiterer Anforderungen und zur Lösung brennender Probleme an Schulen. Es werden Gelingensbedingungen formuliert und die möglichen Aufgaben sowie der Gewinn für die an der Vermittlung von Informationskompetenz in Schule und Unterricht Beteiligten untersucht.
