Abstract: Das Web ist zur Tatsache geworden. Und mit dem Web entstand eine boornende Industrie, die viel zu erzählen hat, einiges leistet, den Marketingmix eines Unternehmens völlig verändert oder gar ganze Geschäftsprozesse neu definiert hat. Aber es entstand auch eine Industrie, die eines völlig aus den Augen verloren hat: Nach der Technik und nach dem Screen Design wird erst zaghaft an die mediumgerechte Ansprache des Kunden gedacht. Erst jetzt wird der Stellenwert von schriftlicher Information als "mission critical" bewertet. So ist bereits heute abzusehen, dass nach den fehlenden IT-Fachkräften demnächst der Ruf nach fähigen Web-Schreiberlingen laut werden dürfte. Denn Revolutionen auf dem Gebiet der Sprachtechnologie können erst stattfinden, wenn die Qualität der Inhalte entsprechend hoch ist

Abstract: Library world is actually facing 2 major changes. The one described by the concept of the Digital or Virtual Library let us already anticipate fundamental changes in the products and services libraries will deliver in the future. At present libraries also must react to important economic changes with phenomena like privatisation, deregulation and globalisation of economic processes which - at least in Germany - have now a growing impact on the library and information business. This situation is a real challenge for library management. But unfortunately new management concepts are hardly found in library literature and practice in Germany. Therefore the article wants to give to the library world some ideas on new management and business concepts like the 'learning organisation' or the 'innovative collaborator'

Abstract: Das zweitägige Symposium war Teil eines umfangreichen Jubiläumsprogramms unter dem Motto "Welcome tomorrow" zum 150-jährigen Bestehen der Eidgenössischen Technische Hochschule Zürich (ETH). Um über die Zukunft der Informationsversorgung zu diskutieren war die ETH-Bibliothek nicht nur aufgrund ihrer traditionellen Bedeutung als eine der führenden naturwissenschaftlich-technischen Bibliotheken berufen. Aktuell spielt sie eine wichtige Rolle in dem Zukunftskonzept ETH World, der zentralen Informationsplattform, die alle Angehörigen der ETH in ihren jeweiligen Aufgaben und Kompetenzen spezifisch unterstützen soll. Und auf einem derzeit geplanten neuen Campus der ETH ist die Bibliothek in allen Entwürfen auch als Ort an zentraler Stelle präsent. Beide Aspekte hob Gerhard Schmitt, Vizepräsident Planung und Logistik der ETH, in seiner Begrüßung hervor. Die Referentinnen und Referenten und die etwa 250 Teilnehmerinnen und Teilnehmer kamen aus Bibliotheken, Universitäten und Forschungseinrichtungen, Firmen und Verlagen und repräsentierten die wesentlichen Akteure im Informationsprozess, die in den letzten Jahren schon regelmäßig in unterschiedlichen Foren zusammenkommen, um das Mengen- und Kostenproblem der Informationsversorgung zu lösen.

Abstract: Webtran tools for authoring and translating domain specific texts can make the multilingual text production in a company more efficient and less expensive. Tile tools have been in production use since spring 2000 for checking and translating product article texts of a specific domain, namely an in-company language in sales catalogues of a mail-order company. Webtran tools have been developed by VTT Information Technology. Use experiences have shown that an automatic translation process is faster than phrase-lexicon assisted manual translation, if an in-company language model is created to control and support the language used within the company

Abstract: In den Unternehmen hat man seit langem erkannt dass Wissen und Informationen wettbewerbskritische Ressourcen sind. Deshalb wurden vielfach Aktivitäten gestartet, um diese Ressourcen in Geschäftsprozesse zu integrieren. Der Beitrag diskutiert Chancen und Herausforderungen im Rahmen von Integrationsprojekten und stellt aktuelle Trends und Entwicklungen vor. Enterprise Information Integration wird als ein Konzept vorgestellt das auf den im Unternehmen vorhanden Ressourcen aufbaut und darauf abzielt diese besser zu vernetzen und zu optimieren. Außerdem werden zwei erfolgreiche Integrationsprojekte vorgestellt: zum einen das Informationsmanagement im Tabak- und Nahrungsmittelkonzern Altria und zum anderen das CRM-Projekt bei Reuters, der größten internationalen Multimedia-Nachrichtenagentur.

Abstract

Im Jänner 2014 wurde das nationale dreijährige HRSM-Projekt e-Infrastructures Austria initiiert. Gesamtziel ist der koordinierte Aufbau und die Weiterentwicklung von Repositorieninfrastrukturen für Forschung und Lehre in ganz Österreich sowie ein effizientes und nachhaltiges Forschungsdatenmanagement an allen teilnehmenden 20 Universitäten und fünf weiteren außeruniversitären Forschungseinrichtungen. Das Projekt gliedert sich in drei Teilprojekte, die thematisch ineinander übergreifen und/oder aufeinander aufbauen. Die Koordination erfolgt durch die Universität Wien. Bis Ende 2016 sollen drei Ziele realisiert werden: - Teilprojekt A (Ziel 1): Aufbau von Dokumentenservern auf lokaler Ebene an den Partneruniversitäten. Zweck: Aufstellung von institutionellen Repositorien an allen teilnehmenden Einrichtungen (alle österreichischen Universitäten mit Ausnahme der Medizinischen Universität Innsbruck) - Teilprojekt B (Ziel 2): Erarbeitung eines strategischen Konzepts für das zukünftige Forschungsdatenmanagement in Österreich - Teilprojekt C (Ziel 3): Aufbau einer Wissensinfrastruktur ("knowledge infrastructure") für alle 25 Projektpartner.
