- Abstract
- Der Beitrag befasst sich mit Einflüssen der Wissensgesellschaft auf das kognitive System und seine Leistungen, und zwar in den Aspekten Aufmerksamkeit, visuelle Wahrnehmung, Lernen und Wissenserwerb, Gedächtnis, Denken und Verstehen. Die Interaktion von evolutionär mitgebrachter kognitiver Ausstattung und sozialisierter historisch-kultureller Prägung ist bisher nur sehr unzureichend geklärt. Deshalb werden viele Spekulationen darüber geäußert, wie bestimmte Lebensbedingungen der Informations- und Wissensgesellschaft auf die kognitiven Funktionen des Menschen wirken. Dabei geht man entweder von einer prinzipiellen Überforderung oder von einer Entwicklung neuer Kompetenzen aus. Folgende kognitive Bereiche werden im Beitrag behandelt: Aufmerksamkeit, visuelle Wahrnehmung, Lernen und Wissenserwerb, Gedächtnis und Erinnern, Denken und Verstehen. Dabei zeigt sich, dass es zwar Anhaltspunkte für Einflüsse auf Wahrnehmung und Kognition gibt, von nachhaltigen Wirkungen kann aber bisher nicht gesprochen werden.

- Diese vor Jahrzehnten entwickelte Methode birgt interessante Anregungen für die Entwicklung moderner Fachinformationssysteme, insbesondere für die Geisteswissenschaften. Aus einer Betrachtung der syntaktischen Beziehungen zwischen den Bestandteilen einer Dokumentbeschreibung ergeben sich drei Vorschläge: (1) konsequente Facettierung und eindeutige Kennzeichnung der Deskriptorgattungen; (2) Anwendung eines Standard-Unterteilungsschemas als syntaktisches Verknüpfungsmittel und (3) Ergänzunge des systematischen durch alphabetische Ordnungselemente bei schwer zu ordnenden Begriffen
