    Abstract
    Ob wir spazieren gehen, einkaufen oder uns unterhalten - ständig teilen wir die Lebewesen und Dinge, die uns umgeben, ein in verschiedene Kategorien: Bäume und Blumen, Milchprodukte und Gemüse, sympathische Menschen und unsympathische. So schaffen wir Ordnung und finden uns in der Welt zurecht wie in einer Bibliothek - alles hat seinen Platz. Diese Ordnung kommt ins Wanken, sagt David Weinberger.     Abstract
    Thema dieser Arbeit ist eine Untersuchung des digitalen Bilderhandels. Es wird die Akzeptanz und die Nutzung von Bilddatenbanken in der Bildbranche analysiert, mit dem Ziel, ein Optimierungskonzept für die Bilddatenbank der jump Fotoagentur zu entwerfen. Zur Einführung werden die Grundlagen der Bildbranche erläutert und auf die Beteiligten und ihre Aufgabenbereiche eingegangen. Es folgt eine Darstellung der Entwicklung der Digitalisierung und den dadurch verursachten Wandel des Bildermarktes. Im Anschluss werden die Möglichkeiten des Bildmanagements und deren Zusammenhang mit der Bildvermarktung aufgezeigt. Weiterhin wird das Bildmanagement-System der jump Fotoagentur näher beschrieben. Mit Hilfe der gewonnen Ergebnisse aus der durchgeführten Befragung wird ein Konzept zur Verbesserung dieses Systems erstellt. Die Erkenntnisse werden zusammengefasst und ein Ausblick auf die Zukunft des digitalen Bilderhandels gegeben.

    Abstract
    Der avisierte Umstieg von RAK auf AACR bindet die Arbeitskraft von Bibliothekaren, ohne dass als Resultat ein zukunftsfähiges Regelwerk mit rationellen Arbeitsprozessen zustande kommen wird. Dies führt nicht nur in eine Sackgasse in der Entwicklung bibliothekarischer Informationssysteme. Bei denjenigen Spezialbibliotheken, die nicht über die arbeitsteiligen Strukturen wie eine Katalogabteilung verfügen, sondern ihre Arbeit eigenständig nach Vorgaben ihrer Institutionen und Prioritäten organisieren müssen und gegenwärtig vor viel wichtigeren Aufgaben stehen (Digitalisierung von Dokumenten, Internetangebot, Informationsvermittlung, Wissensmanagement, Verwaltungssteuerung, Kostenrechnung usw.), deren Bewältigung schon die normale Arbeitskapazität überfordert, kann dies direkt in eine Krisensituation führen. Diskussionen, Aufsätze und Fortbildung zu diesem Thema drohen somit aufgrund dieser zusätzlichen Arbeitsbelastung ein Teil dieses Problems zu werden, es sei denn, man schafft es, die gegenwärtige Situation als Anlass zu nehmen, ein wirklich zukunftsfähiges Regelwerk zu entwickeln und auch durchzusetzen. Ich erlaube ich mir daher, zehn Thesen über "Die Katalogisierung der Zukunft" vorzulegen, um eine derartige Diskussion anzustoßen. Zunächst muss allerdings auf drei wesentliche Elemente der bisherigen Diskussion eingegangen werden, damit der Blick frei wird für die eigentlichen Probleme: die stillschweigenden Voraussetzungen, die Metaphorik des Nutzens, die Paradoxa des deutschen Bibliothekswesens.

    Abstract
    In der Informationsgesellschaft kommen auf Bibliotheken und Spezialbibliotheken insbesondere neue Aufgaben zu. Automatisierung, Digitalisierung und Virtualisierung sind die Entwicklungsstadien, in denen die Bibliotheken die infrastrukturellen Grundlagen zur Übernahme neuer Funktionalitäten legen. Die Bibliothek wird neben den gewohnten Tätigkeiten dann auch Funktionen eines Dokumentationszentrums, eines Multimediazentrums und eines Verlages übernehmen können. Am Beispiel der Bibliothek der Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung wird die funktionale Erweiterung und Anpassung an die durch die digitale Revolution und neue Telekommunikationstechnologien geschaffenen Bedingungen geschildert.

    Wir leben in einer Wissensgesellschaft. Das Wissen der Mitarbeiterinnen und Mitarbeiter wird zunehmend als wichtiges Kapital der Unternehmen wahrgenommen und vielfach als vierter Produktionsfaktor bezeichnet. Immer mehr setzt sich die Erkenntnis durch, dass Wissensverlust, beispielsweise durch den Arbeitsplatzwechsel von Mitarbeiterinnen und Mitarbeitern, den Geschäftserfolg gefährden kann Doch wie sind diese Wissensbestände überhaupt zu messen, wie ist möglich dieses Wissen zu speichern und jederzeit abrufbar zu machen? Grundlage der Unternehmensintelligenz ist das Wissensmanagement. Was kann und soll Wissensmanagement leisten? Welche Wissenskultur fördert die Bereitschaft Wissen weiterzugeben?
