    Abstract
    Ob wir spazieren gehen, einkaufen oder uns unterhalten - ständig teilen wir die Lebewesen und Dinge, die uns umgeben, ein in verschiedene Kategorien: Bäume und Blumen, Milchprodukte und Gemüse, sympathische Menschen und unsympathische. So schaffen wir Ordnung und finden uns in der Welt zurecht wie in einer Bibliothek - alles hat seinen Platz. Diese Ordnung kommt ins Wanken, sagt David Weinberger. Unser Denken in festen Kategorien führt uns auf Dauer nicht weiter, wir müssen lernen, mit Chaos, Unordnung und Unschärfe umzugehen. Nur so lässt sich verstehen, warum Projekte wie Wikipedia funktionieren, warum YouTube, Flickr und iTunes so populär und erfolgreich sind. Das ist nicht weniger als eine Revolution: Denn auf einmal verlieren Experten ihre Macht, soziale Netzwerke werden immer einflussreicher, Kunden und Bürger entscheiden selbst, weil sie am besten wissen, was sie wollen.     Abstract
    Worin besteht die Aufgabe der Bibliotheken im digitalen Zeitalter? Wie können sie sich aufstellen gegenüber Google und den anderen Suchmaschinen? Am Beispiel der Organisation einer digitalen Musiksammlung soll die Bedeutung der Metadaten für die Ordnung der digitalen Informationen veranschaulicht werden. Auf die Behauptung einer "neuen digitalen Unordnung" wird mit der Forderung nach einer neuen digitalen Ordnung geantwortet. Als Bibliothekare sind wir aufgefordert, auch relevante Internetquellen durch Metadaten zu erschließen. Dafür muss der Aufwand für die Bearbeitung der konventionellen Medien stark eingeschränkt werden.

    Abstract
    Social-Tagging-Systeme, die sich für das Wissensmanagement rapide wachsender Informationsmengen zunehmend durchsetzen, sind ein ambivalentes Phänomen. Sie bieten Kundennähe und entfalten ein beachtliches kreatives Potenzial. Sie erzeugen aber ebenso große Mengen völlig unkontrollierter Meta-Informationen. Aus Sicht gepflegter Vokabularien, wie sie sich etwa in Thesauri finden, handelt es sich bei völlig frei vergebenen Nutzerschlagwörtern (den "Tags") deshalb um "chaotische" Sacherschließung. Andererseits ist auch die These einer "Schwarmintelligenz", die in diesem Chaos wertvolles Wissen als Gemeinschaftsprodukt erzeugt, nicht von der Hand zu weisen. Die Frage ist also: Wie lassen sich aus Tagging-Daten Meta-Informationen generieren, die nach Qualität und Ordnung wissenschaftlichen Standards entsprechen - nicht zuletzt zur Optimierung eines kontrollierten Vokabulars? Der Beitrag stellt ein Analysemodell zur Nutzbarkeit von Tagging-Daten vor.

    Abstract
    Thema dieser Arbeit ist eine Untersuchung des digitalen Bilderhandels. Es wird die Akzeptanz und die Nutzung von Bilddatenbanken in der Bildbranche analysiert, mit dem Ziel, ein Optimierungskonzept für die Bilddatenbank der jump Fotoagentur zu entwerfen. Zur Einführung werden die Grundlagen der Bildbranche erläutert und auf die Beteiligten und ihre Aufgabenbereiche eingegangen. Es folgt eine Darstellung der Entwicklung der Digitalisierung und den dadurch verursachten Wandel des Bildermarktes. Im Anschluss werden die Möglichkeiten des Bildmanagements und deren Zusammenhang mit der Bildvermarktung aufgezeigt. Weiterhin wird das Bildmanagement-System der jump Fotoagentur näher beschrieben. Mit Hilfe der gewonnen Ergebnisse aus der durchgeführten Befragung wird ein Konzept zur Verbesserung dieses Systems erstellt. Die Erkenntnisse werden zusammengefasst und ein Ausblick auf die Zukunft des digitalen Bilderhandels gegeben.
