    Abstract
    In der Bibliometrie werden meist zwei Größen vermessen: die Anzahl von Publikationen und Zitationen. Publiziert und zitiert haben Menschen bereits sehr früh in der Geschichte. Schon in der Antike sind bei überlieferten Werken Zitationen zu finden. Der englische Begriff "Bibliometrics" selbst wurde aber erst 1969 definiert. In dem folgenden Artikel wird eine kleine Frühgeschichte der Bibliometrie, einer Unterdisziplin der Informationswissenschaft, bis zu diesem wichtigen Jahr anhand von beispielhaften Studien und Arbeiten dargestellt. Es wird auf die Anfänge von Publikationen und Zitationen und den fachlichen Rahmen der Bibliometrie eingegangen. Der Ursprung der Bibliometriegeschichte selbst wird von unterschiedlichen Autoren unterschiedlich früh angesetzt. Die verschiedenen Ansätze werden vorgestellt und diskutiert. Der Artikel schließt mit einer Beschreibung der wachsenden Bedeutung dieses Fachs im heutigen Informationszeitalter.

    Abstract
    Das 13. Internationale Symposium für Informationswissenschaft (ISI 2013) führt die alle zwei Jahre stattfindende Tagung des Hochschulverbandes für Informationswissenschaft (HI) fort. Sie stellt stets ein Schaufenster auf die aktuelle Diskussion der Informationswissenschaft als Fachdisziplin zwischen Informatik, Interface Design, Computerlinguistik und benachbarten Sozialwissenschaften dar. Die eingereichten Beiträge stammen vorwiegend von (fast) allen Lehrstühlen und Instituten der Informationswissenschaft in den deutschsprachigen Ländern. In Kooperation mit dem amerikanischen Schwesterverband, der "Association of Information Science and Technology" (ASIS&T), gelang es wieder, neben den herausragenden Keynotes auch weitere internationale Beiträge zu integrieren und auf diese Weise die europäisch-deutschsprachige Informationswissenschaft mit dem internationalen Diskurs zu verbinden. Das Motto der Tagung verweist auf die aktuellen Veränderungen in der Fachdisziplin und in den vorherrschenden Anwendungsfeldern. Wie in vielen Wissenschaften vollzieht sich auch in der Informationswissenschaft ein vielfältiger Paradigmenwechsel, der auf den Wandel zur "digitalen Gesellschaft" reagiert. Neben klassischen Themengebieten wie Information Retrieval, Metadaten, Usability, Portalen, neuen Medientechnologien oder Bibliometrie rücken deshalb Fragen des Informationsverhaltens und der tatsächlichen "Informationspraxis" immer mehr in den Fokus.

    Abstract
    Bibliometrie zur Evaluation wissenschaftlicher Leistung gewinnt zunehmend an Bedeutung. Vor allem für Hochschulleitungen sind bibliometrische Indices zur Leistungsbeurteilung ihrer Wissenschaftler attraktiv. Die Wissenschaftler hingegen stehen den bibliometrischen Analysen skeptisch gegenüber und nehmen die Indices nur zögerlich an, wie die geringe Nutzung auf ihren Homepages im Internet zeigt. Für Bibliotheken ergibt sich eine neue Aufgabe. Sie sollten sich als Partner beider Gruppen positionieren und durch aktive Beratung ihre Kompetenz auf diesem Feld einbringen.

    Abstract
    Wissenschaftliche Institutionen und einzelne WissenschaftlerInnen werden zunehmend nach bibliometrischen Daten beurteilt. Jeder Mathematiker hat Vorbehalte gegenüber dieser Praxis. Über diese beiden Dinge waren sich alle TeilnemerInnen und Wortmeldungen des Panels zur Bibliometrie auf der DMV-Jahrestagung in Salzburg einig. Für einzelne WissenschaftlerInnen hat die IMU bereits 2014 (tinyurl.com/ycd7wvh7) die Vorbehalte gegenüber rein bibliometrischen Beurteilungen klar formuliert. Universitätsleitungen, Politik und andere bis hin zur öffentlichen Diskussion verlassen sich aber teilweise aif diese Art der Bewertung. Konkret kann das so aussehen: Zur Beurteilung von Departements zählt eine Universität Publikationen und gewichtet sie nach ihrer Güte. Die Güte entnimmt man einer Einteilung von Fachzeitschriften etwa in A, B und C. Liegt eine solche Einteilung nicht vor, sind alle Journale des Faches mit 1 gewichtet, d.h. 'junk'. Die Diskrepanz zwischen unserer Einschätzung und der allgemeinen Wirkmächtigkeit von Biblimetrie wirft für die DMV als Fachgegsellschaft die Frage auf, wie sie Einfluss nehmen kann und soll. Die 'Mitteilungen' versuchen an dieser Stelle zunächst, ein möglichst breites Meinungsbild zu sammeln. Wir haben sieben Fragen an eine Reihe von Kolleginnen und Kollegen gestellt, die am Panel teilgenmmen haben oder aus anderen Gründen mit dem Thema besfasst sind.

    Abstract
    Die Bewertung der Forschungs- und Publikationsleistung spielt in unterschiedlichen Kontexten im Wissenschaftssystem eine große Rolle, insbesondere weil Drittmittel knapp und mit Renommee verbundene Stellen wie Professuren rar sind. Neben der inhaltlichen und qualitativen Bewertung der wissenschaftlichen Leistung durch Peer Review, wird auch versucht, Publikationsleistungen von Wissenschaftlerinnen und Wissenschaftlern, Instituten oder Arbeitsgruppen zu quantifizieren. Diese "Vermessung" von Publikationen wird auch als Bibliometrie (engl. bibliometrics) oder Szientometrie (engl. scientometrics) bezeichnet. Entscheidend sind hierbei in erster Linie drei Kennzahlen: - Produktivität: Anzahl der Publikationen - Wirkung/Impact: Anzahl der Zitationen - Kooperationen: Anzahl der Artikel, die man gemeinsam mit anderen Autoren oder Institutionen publiziert. Der Zitierung kommt in der Wissenschaft eine besondere Bedeutung zu.

    Abstract
    Zitationen spielen eine wichtige Rolle im wissenschaftlichen Diskurs, in der Recherchepraxis sowie im Bereich der Bibliometrie. In jüngster Zeit gibt es zunehmend Initiativen, die Zitationen als Open Data zur freien Nachnutzung verfügbar machen. Der Beitrag beschreibt den Stand der Entwicklung dieser Initiativen und zeigt, dass in nächster Zeit eine kritische Masse von Daten entstehen könnte, aus denen sich gerade für Bibliotheken neue Perspektiven ergeben. Als konkrete Möglichkeit zur Partizipation für Bibliotheken wird das DFG-Projekt Linked Open Citation Database (LOC-DB) vorgestellt.
