Abstract

Enzyklopädien waren früher eine Anschaffung fürs Leben. Ihre multimedialen Versionen sind inzwischen so preiswert, dass man sich öfter eine neue leisten kann. Es haben sich daher zwei Fraktionen gebildet: Die eine stemmt lieber eine schmucke 20-bändige Schwartensammlung über den Kamin. Suchen heißt für sie: blättern. Die andere liebt es, wenn sich im Rechner eine CD-ROM oder DVD dreht und die Inhalte auf den Bildschirm wirft. Im ZEIT-Enzyklopädientest treten die aktuellen Multimedia-Ausgaben zum Vergleich an. Dabei müssen sie sich an der kostenlosen Wikipedia messen, dem beliebten Wissensspender im Internet.
