- Abstract
- Die aufkommende Informationsgesellschaft stellt neue Anforderungen an Öffentliche Bibliotheken. Das Internet als modernes Informations- und Kommunikationsmittel spielt dabei eine nicht unerhebliche Rolle. Kommunale Bibliotheken in Deutschland haben im Umgang mit dem Internet noch sehr wenig Erfahrung. Diese Arbeit soll einen ersten Überblick darüber schaffen, inwieweit dieses Medium Öffentlichen Bibliotheken neue Möglichkeiten hinsichtlich bibliotheksinterner Arbeitsabläufe und bibliothekseigener Informationsangebote bereitstellt. Zudem werden Funktion und Aufgabe der Öffentlichen Bibliothek innerhalb der Informationsgesellschaft anhand der Bereitstellung des Internet für den Bibliotheksbenutzer thematisiert. Letztlich werden technsiche Voraussetzungen für einen Internetanschluß dargestellt und die Problematik des Internetbetriebs in Öffentlichen Bibliotheken erörtert

- Abstract
- Die Digitale Bibliothek hat viele Gesichter und viele Funktionen, Kein des Begriffs ist die Aufbereitung, Zugänglichkeit und Verarbeitung von digitalen - aber auch nichtdigitalen - Quellen. Das Management von elektronischen Informationsressourcen birgt neue Strukturen, neue Paradigmen, neue Arbeitsweisen und neue Informationsvermittlungsmethoden. Noch einer Übersicht über die Begriffsbestimmung "Digitale Bibliothek" werden die Forschungsprogramme und Förderansätze hinsichtlich digitaler Bibliotheksprojekte in den USA, Europa, Asien und Ozeanien dargestellt. Einzelne Aspekte der digitalen Bibliothek werden dann näher erläutert wie die Architektur der digitalen Bibliothek, Metadaten, Dokumentenerstellung, Interoperability, Gateways - Clearinghouses etc., Paradigmenverschiebung, elektronische Zeitschriften, Informationsvermittlung, Abrechungsmodalitäten, Archivierung etc. Weiterhin wird überlegt, was die künftigen Implikationen der Informationseuphorie bzw des "dato smog" sind, wie der Wissenschaftlerarbeitsplatz aussieht und weiche Rolle Bibliothek und Bibliothekare in der Informationsversorgung künftig haben

- Abstract
- 'Internet in Öffentlichen Bibliotheken' lautete der Titel eines Materialienbandes, den das Deutsche Bibliotheksinstitut bereits im letzen Jahr herausgegeben hatte - zu Grundlagen in den Bereichen Markt, Recht, Technik und zur Praxis mit Berichten von Konzepten und Erfahrungen. Daß dieser Band auch in seiner Themenfülle und -vielfalt nicht alles Aspekte dieses komplexen neuen Mediums würde aufgreifen können, und daß auch mit der rasanten Weiterentwicklung des Mediums das Thema damit noch keinesfalls 'abgehakt' sein würde, kristallisierte sich schon zu dem Zeitpunkt seiner Entstehung heraus. Eine Fortsetzung, Vertiefung und Erweiterung also war dringend geboten und wird hier vorgelegt - freilich ohne die Illusion, damit alle Aspekte gar erschöpfend behandeln zu können, wohl aber in der Hoffnung, einige Arbeits- und Orientierungshilfen in den wichtigsten Bereichen zu geben

- Abstract
- Die Digitale Bibliothek hat viele Gesichter und viele Funktionen, Kein des Begriffs ist die Aufbereitung, Zugänglichkeit und Verarbeitung von digitalen - aber auch nichtdigitalen - Quellen. Das Management von elektronischen Informationsressourcen birgt neue Strukturen, neue Paradigmen, neue Arbeitsweisen und neue Informationsvermittlungsmethoden. Noch einer Übersicht über die Begriffsbestimmung "Digitale Bibliothek" werden die Forschungsprogramme und Förderansätze hinsichtlich digitaler Bibliotheksprojekte in den USA, Europa, Asien und Ozeanien dargestellt. Einzelne Aspekte der digitalen Bibliothek werden dann näher erläutert wie die Architektur der digitalen Bibliothek, Metadaten, Dokumentenerstellung, Interoperability, Gateways - Clearinghouses etc., Paradigmenverschiebung, elektronische Zeitschriften, Informationsvermittlung, Abrechungsmodalitäten, Archivierung etc. Weiterhin wird überlegt, was die künftigen Implikationen der Informationseuphorie bzw des "dato smog" sind, wie der Wissenschaftlerarbeitsplatz aussieht und weiche Rolle Bibliothek und Bibliothekare in der Informationsversorgung künftig haben

- Abstract
- Am 1. Oktober 2000 fiel der offizielle Startschuss für ein neues Projekt im Rahmen der Digitalen Bibliothek NRW. Bisher ist der Zugriff auf die Digibib <www.digibib.net> den Nutzern der Bibliotheken der staatlichen Hochschulen Nordrhein-Westfalens vorbehalten. Lediglich einige kostenfreie Datenbanken können über den sogenannten "externen Zugang" genutzt werden. Nun soll, über einen Zeitraum von zweieinhalb Jahren, der Grundstein gelegt werden für den Anschluss der Öffentlichen Bibliotheken. Drei Öffentliche Bibliotheken, die Stadt- und Landesbibliothek Dortmund, die StadtBibliothek Köln und die Stadtbüchereien Düsseldorf, haben sich entschlossen, als Pilotanwender ihren Nutzern den Zugang zu diesem Such- und Informationswerkzeug zu bieten, das einen der derzeit innovativsten Ansätze der Informationsversorgung darstellt

- Abstract
- Der gegenwärtige Wandel zur Informationsgesellschaft betrifft auch die Bibliotheken. Schlagworte wie "virtuelle Bibliothek" oder "digitale Bibliothek" tauchen immer häufiger in der Bibliothekslandschaft auf. Die Bücher-Bibliotheken" werden nicht verschwinden, aber sie müssen sich der Herausforderung der Informationsgesellschaft stellen und ihre Rolle neu definieren. Wissenschaftliche Bibliotheken nehmen sich bereits seit einiger Zeit der neuen Informations- und Kommunikationstechnologien an, aber auch für die Öffentlichen Bibliotheken besteht Handlungsbedarf. Das Land Salzburg hat deshalb eine Studie mit dem Titel "Die Digitale Bibliothek" bei der Techno-Z Fachhochschule Forschung und Entwicklung GmbH in Auftrag gegeben, die Strategien für die Weiterentwicklung der Öffentlichen Bibliotheken des Landes im Informationszeitalter entwickeln soll. Die Ergebnisse dieser Studie sind nicht nur für die Öffentlichen Bibliotheken im Land Salzburg von Interesse, sondern betreffen auch andere Regionen und deren Bibliothekslandschaft. Aufgrund der großen Nachfrage haben wir uns daher zu einem Sonderdruck des Heftes 15 der "Materialien zur Weiterbildung in Salzburg" mit den wichtigsten Ergebnisse der Studie entschlossen. So liegt neben dem umfangreichen Endbericht eine Kurzfassung vor. Diese Kurzfassung haben wir für Sie via Internet zugänglich gemacht.
