    Abstract
    Wenn wir an eine Bibliografie denken, haben wir dann ein Schriftenverzeichnis vor Augen? Oder verstehen wir unter Bibliografie heute eher ein kommunikatives, offenes und vernetztes Webportal, das Eingang zu einem Informationsraum bietet? Wenn man Opacs, Datenbanken und andere bibliografische Angebote im Internet genauer betrachtet, bieten diese mehr als lediglich die Verzeichnung von Schriften. Es zeigt sich, dass Bibliografien nicht mehr »nur« einfache Literaturverzeichnisse sind. Vor dem Hintergrund aktueller Entwicklungen in Richtung Web 2.0 stellt sich die Frage, in welcher Form Bibliografien künftig ihren Nutzen haben werden. - Im Rahmen seiner Promotion hat der Autor vierzig Experten nach der Zukunft der Bibliografie befragt. Dieser Beitrag fasst die wesentlichen Ergebnisse der Studie zusammen.

    Entwicklungsgeschichte des VD 16: von der Buchausgabe zur Datenbank Mit der Erschließung für das VD 16 wurde 1969 begonnen. Aus der frühen Entstehungszeit lässt sich verstehen, warum diese Bibliografie als gedruckte Buchausgabe konzipiert war. In den frühen 1970er Jahren war die Datenverarbeitung für die Katalogisierung - sofern bekannt - keineswegs einsatzfähig, schon gar nicht für die Spezialanforderungen alter Drucke. Das heute in vielen Bibliotheken vorliegende im Verlag Hiersemann publizierte Grundwerk umfasst 25 Bände. Für Wirkung und Weiterführung war es zwingend notwendig, die Bibliografie maschinenlesbar umzusetzen, was in vielen einzelnen Schritten geschehen und heute im Wesentlichen abgeschlossen ist. Die Umstellung auf EDV war seit deren erfolgreicher Einführung in der Katalogisierung und ihrem Einsatz in den groß angelegten Retrokonversionsprojekten der DFG für Katalogdaten von 1501 bis 1850 eine ständige Herausforderung für das VD 16. Das VD 17 wurde seit 1992 von Anfang an DV-gestützt erstellt, zum einen das einzig richtige zeitgemäße Verfahren, zum anderen der Grund für alle nicht in Kontinuität zum VD 16 konzipierten Erschließungsverfahren. So erklären sich Brüche in der Erschließung, die uns heute, wenn wir an eine gemeinsame Datenbank oder ein Portal für alte Drucke denken, vor neue Herausforderungen stellt. Für das VD 16 begann um 1989 der DV-Einsatz durch den Aufbau der in der Herzog August Bibliothek Wolfenbüttel mit Allegro entwickelten Besitzstandsdatei. Die Kurzaufnahmen, bestehend aus VD16-Nummer und Ordnungswort (als Identifikationsmerkmale), wurden um weitere Bestandsangaben ergänzt, was die gedruckte Bibliografie, ein statisches Produkt, nicht erlaubte. Seit diesem Jahr der Wende wurden gerade auch Bestandsangaben und neue Aufnahmen aus den reichen Beständen der so genannten "neuen Länder" für das VD 16 bereitgestellt. Die nunmehr "gesamtdeutsche" Bibliografie verdankt viel dem Einsatz der Forschungsbibliothek Gotha und ihrem damaligen Leiter, Dr. Helmut Claus.

    Abstract
    Mit den Literaturnachweisen des OCLC PICA Partners - des Gemeinsamen Bibliotheksverbunds (GBV) - wird WorldCat um einen weiteren großen deutschen Datenbestand erweitert. Die entsprechende Rahmenvereinbarung zwischen der OCLC PICA GmbH und dem GBV wurde am anlässlich des OCLC PICA Partner Update Meetings in Oberhaching unterzeichnet. Nach Zustimmung durch die betroffenen Bibliotheken werden ca. 22 Mio. Titelsätze an WorldCat geliefert. Dazu gehören die Bestände der Stiftung Preußischer Kulturbesitz einschließlich Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin und aller Hochschulbibliotheken in den sieben zum GBV gehörenden Bundesländern. OCLC wird diese Daten in Absprache mit den Bibliotheken kontrolliert an Internetsuchmaschinen wie Google und Yahoo weitergeben. Damit wird neben den Titel- und Besitznachweisen der Niedersächsischen Staats- und Universitätsbibliothek Göttingen und der Bayerischen Staatsbibliothek eine weitere große deutsche Titelsammlung via Internet weltweit recherchierbar sein.
