    Abstract
    Wie das Denken funktioniert, ist noch immer ein Geheimnis der Natur. Die Neurowissenschaften machen jedoch in jüngster Zeit zunehmend Fortschritte bei der Beantwortung dieser - auch für unser gesamtes Selbstverständnis - grundlegenden Frage. Dabei spielen Untersuchungsmethoden aus der Physik und der Einsatz modernster Computertechnologie eine immer wichtigere Rolle. Welche Chancen eröffnen sich, wenn wir besser verstehen, wie im Gehirn Wahrnehmung, Informationsverarbeitung und Kreativität stattfinden? Diese Frage steht im Zentrum der Futur-Leitvision "Das Denken verstehen". Das bereits in der Anfangsphase von Futur entstandene Thema wurde zu einem späteren Zeitpunkt des Prozeses wieder aufgegriffen und aufgrund der erheblichen Bedeutung, die das Thema für die Lernforschung, den Gesundheitsbereich und die technische Informationsverarbeitung (einschließlich der Robotik) hat, zur Leitvision weiterentwickelt.

    Abstract
    Zwei renommierte amerikanische Computerwissenschaftler stießen unlängst eine Diskussion an über mögliche Auswirkungen der Weiterentwicklung von Robotik, Gen- und Nanotechnik. In seinem Buch"Homo s@piens" (Rezension Seite 112) behauptet Ray Kurzweil, dass die Roboter des späten 21. Jahrhunderts über eine so ausgeteilte künstliche Intelligenz verfügen werden, dass sie von den ihrerseits durch Neuro-Implantate technisch "weiterentwickeiten" Menschen praktisch nicht mehr zu unterscheiden sind. Noch einen Schritt weiter geht Bill Joy, der Technologie-Berater des amerikanischen Präsidenten. Vor dem Hintergrund der Möglichkeit, die Menschheit könnte schon in wenigen Generationen durch eine sich selbst reproduzierende Roboter-Spezies verdrängt werden, fordert er ein Moratorium, bestimmte Forschungen schon heute einzustellen.     "Hallo? Professor Großgeist, sind Sie dran? Ja, hier ist Altfaul, war in Ihrem Hauptseminar Life Science. Ich rufe aus Ibiza an, sind doch Semesterferien. Und, wie geht's so im spartanischen Arbeitszimmer am Institut? Haha: Dauerregen auf dem Campus? Tut mir echt Leid. Aber ich muss mich kurz fassen, die Handygebühren, Sie verstehen. Ja also, das mit dem Versprechen, unsere Hochschule Niederrhein sei jetzt bundesweit die erste Hochschule, die uns Studis ermöglicht, die Klausurnoten über WAP-Handy abzufragen, also das klappt bei mir nicht. Wie bitte? Ja, Display ist tadellos. Die WAP-Internetadresse habe ich auch richtig eingegeben, ja klar. WAP-Server, Kennung, Passwort, alles schon gecheckt. Die Software kommt vom Hochschulinformations-System aus Hannover? Ehrlich? Die sorgt für die Verbindung zur Datenbank an unserer Hochschule? Ist ja irre. Funktioniert bei meinem Teil aber irgendwie nicht. Wie bitte? Vielleicht rechnungssäumig? Also Herr Professor, ich bitte Sie. Das ist nun wirklich ein alberner Einwand. War schon so gespannt auf die Noten, die neuesten Ergebnisse sollen ja immer ganz oben auf der eigenen Notenliste stehen, damit man nicht so viel am Handy rumdrücken muss. Könnte es nicht sein, dass die acht Jungs aus dem Wahlpflichtfach Planung und Gestaltung von Robotik-Anwendungen bei Ihrem Kollegen Professor Helwig rumgefingert haben? Da ging es doch um automatische Montage von Mobiltelefonen, um Simulation, Schwenkbewegungen von Robotern und so. Hab' den Artikel gelesen. In der brandneuen Ausgabe unseres Hochschul-Reports. Und am Ende piepst das Handy, ja genau so lautete die Überschrift. Ich verwette mein Mensa-Chip, dass die was getrickst haben. Oder vielleicht mag uns die Landesregierung ja nicht mehr und hat uns den Geldhahn zugedreht. War 'n Scherz. Also wie nun? Die Klausurnote kann ich auch weltweit von jedem PC mit Internetzugang aus abfragen? Mmh, ist ja IT mäßig nicht so supergünstig aufgerüstet hier am Strand. Komme so auf die Schnelle nicht an einen Laptop dran. Ach, wie bitte? Sie haben die Listen auch vor sich liegen? Und? Waas, mangelhaft? Kann nicht sein. O weia. Nachprüfung? Schon am Dienstag?
