    Abstract
    Nicht allein der mögliche Umstieg auf AACR und MARC erhitzte in den letzen Wochen und Monaten die Gemüter. Auch die Form der Entscheidungsfindung sorgt nach wie vor für heftige Debatten. Im Zentrum der Diskussion steht dabei nicht zuletzt die Arbeit des Standardisierungsausschuss bei Der Deutschen Bibliothek. Nach einer kritischen Würdigung der Ausschussarbeit unter anderem durch Heidrun Wiesenmüller in dieser Zeitschrift erläutern im Folgenden Vertreter Der Deutschen Bibliothek seine Arbeitsgrundlage und Projektziele.

    Abstract
    Nachdem Regelwerksfragen in den letzten Jahren keine zentrale Rolle gespielt haben, hat die Diskussion über einen Umstieg von RAK und MAB auf AACR und MARC in den letzten Monaten einen gewaltigen Schub bekommen. Die vor fünf Jahren im Zusammenhang mit einem "Konvergenzprojekt" angestellten Überlegungen sind dabei nach wie vor aktuell. Die Veränderungen in der Regelwerks-Gremienlandschaft seit Gründung der Konferenz für Regelwerksfragen sowie die Gründe für das erneute Aufleben der deutschen Regelwerksdiskussion werden rekapituliert und die Situation Der Deutschen Bibliothek vor dem Hintergrund dieser Diskussion skizziert. Neben den Nachteilen einer Ablösung von RAK und MAB werden die Vorteile internationaler Regeln und Standards aus Nutzersicht sowie aus ökonomischer Sicht skizziert. Vor der Entscheidung für oder gegen eine Migration auf internationale Regeln und Formate sollte die Durchführung einer Machbarkeitsstudie stehen, in der die technischen, finanziellen und organisatorischen Rahmenbedingungen sowie die damit verbundenen Zeitperspektiven untersucht werden.

    Abstract
    »AACR und kein Ende?«, fragte Heidrun Wiesenmüller im Märzheft dieser Zeitschrift skeptisch, und sie schloss ihre Stellungnahme gegen einen Umstieg der deutschen Bibliotheken auf AACR und MARC in der Hoffnung, »dass Entscheidungen über die Zukunft der formalen Erschließung künftig wieder nach einer inhaltsbetonten und konstruktiven Diskussion sowie im breiten Konsens getroffen werden«. Die Positionen von Wiesenmüller auf der einen und Renate Gömpel als Vertreterin der Arbeitsstelle für Standardisierung Der Deutschen Bibliothek auf der anderen Seite scheinen zu weit auseinander, als dass sich ein Konsens abzeichnen könnte. Doch dass ihr folgender Beitrag »inhaltsbetont und konstruktiv« ist, darf Gömpel zweifellos für sich beanspruchen.
