    Abstract
Part 3 of a 3-part series on the electronic management of documents parts 1 and 2 of which appeared in Argus 26(3) 1997 and 27(1) 1998 respectively. Looks at 3 concepts relating to the management and communication of electronic documents within the corporate network: groupware, or the automation of work in groups; workflow, or the management of the flow of information to be treated; and intranet, which indicates the private network of an organization supplying internally the technologies responsible for the success of Internet and the World Wide Web. Considers the advantages of the electronic document operated on computer networks over paper handled through traditional channels focusing on intranet because of the importance it is given as an infrastructure for integration of document management activities and because it represents a major challenge for the information professionals of today

    Abstract

    Abstract
Although librarians recognize the Internet as a resource for knowledge and information, they have yet to make a formal effort to collect and preserve the Web sites found there. Addresses the need to set up a cyberarchive and some of the issues involved. With Web sites appearing and disappearing constantly from the Internet, there is an immediate need to recognize that they are precious part of cultural and intellectual history and to preserve them for future study. Issues discussed include: Web site authorship vs. Web space ownership; physical media used to hold Web sites (hard drive, mainframe, CD-ROMs); collection development; acquiring Web sites; and adding Web sites to a collection

    Abstract
There is confusion about the conceptual origins of records management. It is often wrongly associated with archival management. Records management however should be associated with management as its core paradigm is that of information management. Traces the rise of management and the emergence of management information, prior to the 2nd World War

    Abstract

    Abstract
Examines the reality of the archival management of electronic records and the digital world as a whole. Discusses issues surrounding the keeping of electronic records and examines the fundamental question of where records should be kept in the electronic age. Considers post custodial ideas and strategies by means of case studies and concludes with a discussion of whether, in a digital world, location really matters

    Footnote

    Abstract

    Abstract
Discusses some of the options for approaches to disaster management in organizations as it relates to risk management. At the organisation or business level, the starting point is to identify the risks faced by the business area and functional activities. The Australian / New Zealand Standard on managing rsik proposes a 6 step process for carrying out risk management: identification of the organisational context, risk identification, risk analysis, assessment amd prioritisation of risks, treatment of risks and the monitoring and review of the system. Such strategies can be of limited value in a wide area disaster. Offers advice on coping with a major disaster
