    Abstract
    Im menschlichen Gehirn könnte nach einer Studie Hamburger Forscher bereits eine universelle Grammatik verankert sein. In der Untersuchung war das Sprachzentrum der Probanden sehr aktiv, wenn sie die Grammatik einer echten Sprache wie Italienisch oder Japanisch lernten. Bei frei erfundenen Grammatikregeln war dieses so genannte Broca-Zentrum dagegen weniger einbezogen. Das berichtete das Universitätsklinikum Hamburg-Eppendorf. Die Studie sei ein Beleg für eine bereits vor 30 Jahren erstellte Theorie des Linguisten Noam Chomsky, nach der es eine angeborene sprachenübergreifende Grammatik gibt, die alle Menschen der Erde teilen. Dieses Ergebnis sei wichtig, um zu verstehen, wie das Gehirn Sprache bildet, heißt es in einem Kommentar des Fachblattes Nature Neuroscience, das die Hamburger Studie veröffentlicht hat. Es sei aber noch kein endgültiger Beweis dafür, dass die Broca-Region die neuronale Grundlage für eine universelle Grammatik sei.

    Abstract
    Jede Sprache hat ihre eigene Struktur und weist damit ihre spezifische, von der Semantik her bedingte Grammatik auf. Es wird verdeutlicht, in welcher Weise für eine Sprache, hier für die deutsche Sprache, eine umfassende Grammatik erstellt werden kann. Die prinzipiellen Verfahrensweisen gelten auch für andere Sprachen. Eine solche Grammatik stellt keine Teilgrammatik dar, sondern macht die gesamt in einer Sprache enthaltene Struktur explizit. Daher ist sie im Bereich der Sprachverarbeitung als einheitliche Grundlage in den verschiedensten Sachgebieten anwendbar. Eine Grammatik dieser Art kann insbesondere zum Aufbau von Dialogsystemen und maschinellen Übersetzungssystemen dienen

    Abstract
    Werden in einem Retrievalsystem gehobene Ansprüche an die Treffsicherheit der Recherchen gestellt, so müssen die Relationen zum Ausdruck gebracht werden, die in einem einzuspeichernden Dokument zwischen den einzelnen Begriffen seiner Inhaltsbeschreibung herrschen. Mit den Mitteln des Wortschatzes allein läßt sich diese Aufgabe auf die Dauer nicht lösen. Die hochgradig präkoordinierenden Deskriptoren (Schlagwörter, Klassifikationsnotationen), die man hierzu bilden müßte, würden bald überhand nehmen. Sie würden auch zu einer derart intensiven Verzweigung der 'Relationenwege' im Wortschatz führen, daß sie in der Praxis der Schlagwortgebung doch wieder weitgehend ungenutzt blieben. Diese Relationenwege muß man leicht und schnell verfolgen können, um zuverlässig zu den jeweils bestpassenden Deskriptoren für ein Dokument hinzufinden. Setzt man hingegen zur Wiedergabe von Begriffsrelationen mindestens teilweise die Werkzeuge der Grammatik, insbesondere der Syntax ein, so lassen sich diese Schwierigkeiten vermeiden. Allerdings darf die Aufgabenteilung zwischen Wortschatz und Grammatik nicht von den Zufälligkeien der natürlichsprachlichen Ausdrucksweise gesteuert sein. Sie muß sich vielmehr nach den semantischen Kategorien richten, die für das betreffende Sachgebiet wesentlich sind
