    Abstract
    Viele Benutzer haben Probleme im Umgang mit OPACs - das dokumentieren zahlreiche Usability-Studien in ausreichendem Maße. Benutzer benötigen also Hilfe, genauer: sie benötigen ein Online-Hilfesystem, das ihnen beim "Discovery", "Locate" und "Request"' von Dokumenten im OPAC unabhängig von den Öffnungszeiten der Bibliothek situationsgerechte Online-Hilfen anbietet. Mit dem Ausdruck "Online-Hilfe" assoziieren viele nur einen Fragezeichen-Button oder Module wie die sprechende Büroklammer der Microsoft-Office-Applikationen. Doch Online-Hilfe umfasst viel mehr, von der Rechtschreibkorrektur in Suchfeldern bis hin zu Recommender-Systemen. Definieren lässt sich Online-Hilfe als ein computergestütztes Werkzeug im virtuellen Raum, das an kritischen Stellen den Nutzer bei der erfolgreichen Durchführung einer Aktion unterstützt und/oder kontextbezogene Informationen gibt. "Kritisch" für die erfolgreiche Nutzung eines Angebotes sind solche Stellen, "an denen bei den Nutzern ein jeweils spezifisches oder differenziertes Wissen vorausgesetzt wird"2. Eine einzelne Hilfe, etwa ein erklärender Text, kann dem Benutzer nicht auf allen Ebenen der Interaktion mit dem System helfen. Deshalb ist es notwendig, mehrere Online-Hilfen zu kombinieren; man spricht dann von einem Online-Hilfesystem. Online-Hilfe ist ein wichtiges Forschungsthema, doch ist es vor allem im Bibliotheksbereich nur mangelnd theoretisch fundiert. Eine präzise Unterscheidung und Klassifikation der verschiedenen Arten von Online-Hilfen ist dabei eine notwendige Grundlage für weiterführende Analysen. Der vorliegende Beitrag erläutert die einzelnen Arten von Online-Hilfen in OPACs anhand der von der Autorin entwickelten Klassifikation nach Funktionalitäten3. Es werden vier Arten von Online-Hilfen unterschieden: erklärende Hilfen, aufbereitende/visuelle Hilfen, sucheinschränkende Hilfen und sucherweiternde Hilfen. Während die ersten beiden am Suchergebnis nichts ändern, beeinflussen sowohl die einschränkenden als auch die erweiternden Hilfen das Suchergebnis. Abbildung 1 zeigt die Klassifikation mit ihrer weiteren Untergliederung. Die technische Komplexität der angeführten Online-Hilfen nimmt dabei - in grober Näherung - von oben nach unten zu.

    "Die Recherche im "klassischen" OPAC verlangt eine exakte Formulierung der Suchanfrage, aber viele Bibliotheksbenutzer wissen nicht genau, wonach sie eigentlich suchen. So bleiben oft wertvolle Treffer oder sogar Teile des Bibliotheksbestandes von den Bibliotheksbenutzern unentdeckt. Ein neues Produkt in der Angebotspalette des Bibliothekssoftware-Herstellers BOND GmbH & Co. KG schafft Abhilfe: Der AquaBrowser Library. Er sprengt die Grenzen der konventionellen OPAC-Suche und bietet ein neues, "ergonomisches" Sucherlebnis: die erste progressive und interaktive Suchumgebung. AquaBrowser Library bezieht in die OPAC-Suche automatisch assoziative Begriffe, Synonyme, unterschiedliche Schreibweisen, Übersetzungen sowie den Kontext mit ein. So werden automatisch neue Suchpfade generiert, der Suchbereich und somit auch das Trefferspektrum erweitert. Als Ergebnis erhält der Informationssuchende eine umfangreichere und qualitativ präzisere Ergebnisliste. Das Suchergebnis geht weit über eine Suchliste hinaus: Der Suchbegriff eines Benutzers wird mit den im Bibliothekskatalog enthaltenen Metadaten verglichen. Dabei werden assoziative Begriffe, Synonyme, alternative Schreibweisen, Übersetzungen in Fremdsprachen sowie der Kontext mit einbezogen. Daraus generiert sich automatisch eine visuelle Karte, die so genannte "Word Cloud". Sie stellt alle Assoziationen oder Überblicke über interessante Themenbereiche grafisch logisch dar. Die Begriffe sind Vorschläge und Hilfestellungen für den Bibliotheksbenutzer. Per Klick auf die "Word Cloud" kann er so neue Informationen entdecken und seine Suchanfrage präzisieren und lenken. Beispielsweise werden Tippfehler erkannt und alternative Schreibweisen angeboten. Gibt ein Leser den Suchbegriff "Auto" ein, beinhaltet das Suchergebnis auch Medien zu "PKW", "Kraftfahrzeug" oder "KFZ". Es werden sogar Treffer angezeigt, bei denen der gesuchte Begriff in einer anderen Sprache (englisch, spanisch oder niederländisch) im Katalogisat hinterlegt ist (z.B. car). Bei jeder Suchabfrage erstellt AquaBrowser Library automatisch eine Liste relevanter Kriterien, nach denen der Benutzer seine Ergebnisse filtern kann. Ein Klick auf ein Kriterium genügt und schon werden die Suchergebnisse präzisiert. Auf diese Weise schränken Mediensuchende die Treffer zielgenau ein und gelangen so schnell und exakt zu der spezifischen Information, die sie brauchen. Die Verfeinerungskriterien sind übersichtlich anhand von Kategorien gegliedert (z.B. Schlagwort, Verfasser, Sprache, Personen, Thema, Reihe oder Jahr)."

    Abstract
    Ausgangslage Die Katalog-Recherchen über Internet, also von außerhalb der Bibliothek, nehmen erwartungsgemäß stark zu bzw. sind mittlerweile die Regel. Damit ist natürlich das Bedürfnis und die Notwendigkeit gewachsen, über den Titel hinaus zusätzliche inhaltliche Informationen zu erhalten, die es erlauben, die Zweckmäßigkeit wesentlich besser abschätzen zu können, eine Bestellung vorzunehmen oder vielleicht auch 50 km in die Bibliothek zu fahren, um ein Buch zu entleihen. Dieses Informationsdefizit wird zunehmend als gravierender Mangel erfahren. Inhaltsverzeichnisse referieren den Inhalt kurz und prägnant. Sie sind die erste Stelle, welche zur Relevanz-Beurteilung herangezogen wird. Fast alle relevanten Terme einer Fachbuchpublikation finden sich bereits dort. Andererseits wird immer deutlicher, dass die dem bibliothekarischen Paradigma entsprechende intellektuelle Indexierung der einzelnen dokumentarischen Einheiten mit den engsten umfassenden dokumentationssprachlichen Termen (Schlagwörter, Klassen) zwar eine notwendige, aber keinesfalls hinreichende Methode darstellt, das teuer erworbene Bibliotheksgut Information für den Benutzer in seiner spezifischen Problemstellung zu aktivieren und als Informationsdienstleistung anbieten zu können. Informationen zu sehr speziellen Fragestellungen, die oft nur in kürzeren Abschnitten (Kapitel) erörtert werden, sind derzeit nur indirekt, mit großem Zeitaufwand und oft überhaupt nicht auffindbar. Sie liegen sozusagen brach. Die Tiefe der intellektuellen Indexierung bis in einzelne inhaltliche Details zu erweitern, ist aus personellen und damit auch finanziellen Gesichtspunkten nicht vertretbar. Bibliotheken fallen deshalb in der Wahrnehmung von Informationssuchenden immer mehr zurück. Die enorme Informationsvielfalt liegt hinter dem Informations- bzw. Recherchehorizont der bibliographischen Aufnahmen im Katalog.
