    Abstract
    Eine der wesentlichen Aufgaben als Fachreferent*in ist die inhaltliche Erschließung der neuerworbenen Literatur, sowie die Begutachtung und Auswahl der neu erschienenen Werke in den jeweiligen Fachgebieten hinsichtlich der Relevanz für die eigenen Sammlungen gemäß dem Sammlungsprofil der TU Wien Bibliothek. Im Zuge der Corona-Krise wurde die herkömmliche Arbeitsweise in der Sacherschließung beeinträchtigt, und es haben sich neue Herausforderungen, aber auch Möglichkeiten ergeben. Neben der fehlenden Autopsie der Literatur leidet auch die Sichtung und Erwerbung neuer Literatur unter der physischen Abwesenheit vom Arbeitsplatz bzw. der entsprechenden technischen Infrastruktur. Auch der persönliche Austausch mit den Kolleg*innen wurde deutlich erschwert. Neben den Schwierigkeiten wurden aber auch die neuen Handlungsoptionen auf beruflicher und individueller Ebene positiv gesehen. In dem Artikel werden unsere individuellen Erfahrungen an der TU Wien Bibliothek sowie Ausblicke in die Zukunft wiedergegeben.

    2015 warnte das »DigitalManifest« in »Spektrum der Wissenschaft« vor Verhaltensmanipulation und heraufziehender Datendiktatur. Demokratie und Menschenrechte seien in Gefahr. Es wurde ein neuer Ansatz bei der Digitalisierung gefordert. Wenngleich es auch Fortschritte gab, muss dringend gewarnt werden. Die Gefahr des technologischen Totalitarismus ist keineswegs gebannt. In Zeiten des Klimawandels ist er wahrscheinlicher denn je.

    Abstract
    In den vergangenen Jahren sind akademische Sammlungen der Universitäten, unterstützt von Förderprogrammen von DFG und BMBF, verstärkt in den Focus der wissenschaftlichen Bibliotheken gerückt.     Das Projekt "Aufbau einer Infrastruktur für Information Retrieval-Evaluationen" (AIIRE) bietet eine Softwareinfrastruktur zur Unterstützung von Information Retrieval-Evaluationen (IR-Evaluationen). This paper describes some aspects of a project called "Aufbau einer Infrastruktur für Information Retrieval-Evaluationen" (AIIRE).     Abstract
    Der Suchmaschinenmarkt wird seit vielen Jahren von nur einer einzigen Suchmaschine, Google, dominiert. Es wurde mittlerweile erkannt, dass diese Situation nicht wünschenswert ist. Wir sprechen nun über mögliche Lösungen. Der Artikel diskutiert unterschiedliche Lösungsansätze und fokussiert dabei auf die Idee einen Offenen Web-Index (OWI), der als öffentliche Infrastruktur verfügbar gemacht werden soll. Die Grundidee ist die Trennung von Datenbestand (Index) und darauf aufsetzenden Diensten, welche in großer Zahl in privater Initiative betrieben werden können. Es geht also darum, die Basis für Vielfalt zu schaffen.
