    Abstract
    Eine der wesentlichen Aufgaben als Fachreferent*in ist die inhaltliche Erschließung der neuerworbenen Literatur, sowie die Begutachtung und Auswahl der neu erschienenen Werke in den jeweiligen Fachgebieten hinsichtlich der Relevanz für die eigenen Sammlungen gemäß dem Sammlungsprofil der TU Wien Bibliothek. Im Zuge der Corona-Krise wurde die herkömmliche Arbeitsweise in der Sacherschließung beeinträchtigt, und es haben sich neue Herausforderungen, aber auch Möglichkeiten ergeben. Neben der fehlenden Autopsie der Literatur leidet auch die Sichtung und Erwerbung neuer Literatur unter der physischen Abwesenheit vom Arbeitsplatz bzw. der entsprechenden technischen Infrastruktur. Auch der persönliche Austausch mit den Kolleg*innen wurde deutlich erschwert. Neben den Schwierigkeiten wurden aber auch die neuen Handlungsoptionen auf beruflicher und individueller Ebene positiv gesehen. In dem Artikel werden unsere individuellen Erfahrungen an der TU Wien Bibliothek sowie Ausblicke in die Zukunft wiedergegeben.

    Abstract
    Der Fortschritt der modernen Technologie hat auch einen Fortschritt in der Bildtechnologie bewirkt. Diesem ist es zuzuschreiben, dass Wissensmanagement nicht mehr nur textbasiert, sondern in zunehmendem Maße auch bildbasiert ist. Alle Formen der visuellen Repräsentation durchdringen alle Bereiche der Gesellschaft, die einer visuellen Repräsentation zugänglich sind, von den Kultur- bis zu den Naturwissenschaften. Auf diese Weise sind zwischen Kognition und Vision, Logik und Bild, Realität und Repräsentation neue interdisziplinäre Gleichungen entstanden. Für das Entstehen dieser neuen Zone zwischen der Geschichte der modernen Wissenschaft und der Geschichte der modernen Künste, zwischen der Berechenbarkeit und der Visualisierung von Daten, war insbesondere die Entwicklung der Computertechnologie ausschlaggebend. Heute finden sich auf der Basis computergestützter Simulation in einem neuen Feld jenseits des »Science War« wissenschaftliche und ästhetische Repräsentationstechniken vereint. Das Regime der Zeichen gleicht in einer zunehmend medienbasierten, künstlichen Wirklichkeit die historischen Unterschiede zwischen Natur und Kultur, zwischen Naturwissenschaft und Kulturtechnik, aus.     Wir leben im 21. Jahrhundert, und vieles, was vor hundert und noch vor fünfzig Jahren als Science Fiction abgetan worden wäre, ist mittlerweile Realität. Raumsonden fliegen zum Mars, machen dort Experimente und liefern Daten zur Erde zurück. Roboter werden für Routineaufgaben eingesetzt, zum Beispiel in der Industrie oder in der Medizin. Digitalisierung, künstliche Intelligenz und automatisierte Verfahren sind kaum mehr aus unserem Alltag wegzudenken. Grundlage vieler Prozesse sind lernende Algorithmen. Die fortschreitende digitale Transformation ist global und umfasst alle Lebens- und Arbeitsbereiche: Wirtschaft, Gesellschaft und Politik. Sie eröffnet neue Möglichkeiten, von denen auch Bibliotheken profitieren. Der starke Anstieg digitaler Publikationen, die einen wichtigen und prozentual immer größer werdenden Teil des Kulturerbes darstellen, sollte für Bibliotheken Anlass sein, diese Möglichkeiten aktiv aufzugreifen und einzusetzen. Die Auswertbarkeit digitaler Inhalte, beispielsweise durch Text- and Data-Mining (TDM), und die Entwicklung technischer Verfahren, mittels derer Inhalte miteinander vernetzt und semantisch in Beziehung gesetzt werden können, bieten Raum, auch bibliothekarische Erschließungsverfahren neu zu denken. Daher beschäftigt sich die Deutsche Nationalbibliothek (DNB) seit einigen Jahren mit der Frage, wie sich die Prozesse bei der Erschließung von Medienwerken verbessern und maschinell unterstützen lassen. Sie steht dabei im regelmäßigen kollegialen Austausch mit anderen Bibliotheken, die sich ebenfalls aktiv mit dieser Fragestellung befassen, sowie mit europäischen Nationalbibliotheken, die ihrerseits Interesse an dem Thema und den Erfahrungen der DNB haben. Als Nationalbibliothek mit umfangreichen Beständen an digitalen Publikationen hat die DNB auch Expertise bei der digitalen Langzeitarchivierung aufgebaut und ist im Netzwerk ihrer Partner als kompetente Gesprächspartnerin geschätzt.

    Abstract
    Im folgenden Aufsatz werden ausgewählte Ergebnisse einer repräsentativen Befragung von 1.385 Wissenschaftlern deutscher Hochschulen und außeruniversitären Forschungseinrichtungen präsentiert. Die Befragung wurde im Jahr 2001 durchgeführt und war Teil des Auftrages zur Entwicklung eines Strategiekonzepts zur Zukunft der wissenschaftlichen und technischen Information. Das Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung hatte Ende 2000 diesen Forschungs- und Entwicklungsauftrag an Arthur D. Little International, Inc. und die Gesellschaft für Innovationsforschung und Beratung mbH erteilt. Ziel der Befragungen war es u.a. die Anforderungen der Nutzer an einen effizienten Zugang zu wissenschaftlichen und technischen Informationen zu erheben, den gegenwärtigen Zugang zu wissenschaftlichen und technischen Informationen sowie die damit verbundenen Probleme und induzierten Folgekosten zu bewerten, und Maßnahmen abzuleiten, die künftig die höchsten Effizienzsteigerungen versprechen. Neben den Problemen des Informationszugangs beschäftigte sich die Untersuchung auch mit der Rolle der Wissenschaftler als Autoren bzw. Erzeuger wissenschaftlicher und technischer Informationen.

    Abstract
    Mit dem Fortschritt künstlicher Intelligenzen sind auch progressive Sprachverarbeitungsmodelle auf den Markt gekommen. GPT-3 war nach seiner Veröffentlichung das leistungsstärkste Modell seiner Zeit. Das Programm generiert Texte, die oft nicht von menschlich verfassten Inhalten zu unterscheiden sind. GPT-3s Größe und Komplexität ermöglichen es, dass es wissenschaftliche Artikel eigenständig schreiben und ausgeben kann, die laut Studien und Untersuchungen zum Bestehen von Universitätskursen ausreichen. Mit der Entwicklung solcher Künstlichen Intelligenzen, insbesondere auf Open Source-Basis, könnten Studierende in Zukunft studentische Hausarbeiten von Textgeneratoren schreiben lassen. Diese Arbeit beschäftigt sich einerseits mit dem Modell GPT-3 und seinen Fähigkeiten sowie Risiken. Andererseits wird die Frage thematisiert, wie Hochschulen und Universitäten in Zukunft mit maschinell verfassten Arbeiten umgehen können.

    Abstract
    Nach einem Rückblick auf die Jahrestagungsthemen seit der Gründung der Gesellschaft für Klassifikation 1977 und auf die inhaltlichen Schwerpunkte ihrer 237 Vorträge in den bisherigen Proceedingsbänden werden einige anscheinend vernachlässigte Themen aus dem Problembereich der Klassifikation genannt. Die Schwerpunkte im internationalen Bereich, die sich in der laufenden Bibliographie in "International Classification" abzeichnen, sind ähnlich verteilt. Realisierbare Möglichkeiten der Klassifikationsforschung und -entwicklung in der Zukunft werden in 10 Punkten dargestellt und anschließend in "10 Thesen für die Weiterarbeit" zusammengefaßt
