Mit einem 400 Seiten langen Exkurs versucht er, ihre Behauptung zu widerlegen, daß Maschinen ebenso intelligent sein können wie Menschen. bild der wissenschaft Roger Penrose ( . . . ) gelang das Kunststück, mit dem formelgespickten Wälzer "The Emperors's New Mind" (auf deutsch jetzt unter dem geistlosen Titel "Computerdenken" erschienen) auf den US-Bestsellerlisten zu landen, ungeachtet aller Quanten-Ket-Vektoren und Einsteinscher Krüümungstensoren, mit denen der Autor seine Leser plagt. DER SPIEGEL Das erklärte Ziel dieses Buches ist, den Standpunkt einiger KI-Enthusiasten zu widerlegen, daß Computer irgendwann all das können, was menschliche Gehirne können - und sogar mehr. Aber der Leser merkt bald, dass Pnerose vor allem das Ziel verfolgt, einen Wegzur großen Synthese von klassischer Physik, Quantenphysik und Neurowissenschaften aufzuzeigen. John Horgan in Scientific American Wer "Computerdenken" liest (oder durcharbeitet), sollte nicht auf Antwort hoffen, darf aber neue Sichtwiesen und überraschende Interpretationen erwarten. Ein nahrhaftes Geschenk für naturwissenschaftlich Interessierte.     This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the joint 6th International Semantic Web Conference, ISWC 2007, and the 2nd Asian Semantic Web Conference, ASWC 2007, held in Busan, Korea, in November 2007. The 50 revised full academic papers and 12 revised application papers presented together with 5 Semantic Web Challenge papers and 12 selected doctoral consortium articles were carefully reviewed and selected from a total of 257 submitted papers to the academic track and 29 to the applications track. The papers address all current issues in the field of the semantic Web, ranging from theoretical and foundational aspects to various applied topics such as management of semantic Web data, ontologies, semantic Web architecture, social semantic Web, as well as applications of the semantic Web. Short descriptions of the top five winning applications submitted to the Semantic Web Challenge competition conclude the volume.

    Abstract
    Computer haben merkwürdige Eigenschaften. Sie erledigen eine Menge komplexer Aufgaben schneller, geauer und zuverlässiger als der Mensch. Mit relativ simplen Fähigkeiten, die wir intuitiv einsetzen, haben sie jedoch zu kämpfen. Und bei Verstehen, Intelligenz und Bewußtsein versagen sie völlig. Der menschliche Geist läßt sich prinzipiell rechnerisch nicht angemessen simulieren, behauptet der Autor. Dennoch sind es physikalische Prozesse im Gehirn, die das Bewußtsein ausmachen. Er fordert in der Fortsetzung der Diskussion um 'Computerdenken' eine neue, eine nicht-rechnerische 'Physik des Bewußtseins' für die Beschreibung des Geistes, die eine Art Verallgemeinerung der Quantenmechanik sein könnte.     Abstract
    Die künstliche Intelligenz hat in den letzten Jahrzehnten gewaltige Fortschritte gemacht. Setzt sich dieser Fortschritt in den nächsten Jahren mit der gleichen Geschwindigkeit fort, so werden unsere Personal Computer bis etwa zum Jahr 2015 die gleiche Leistungsfähigkeit wie das menschliche Gehirn erreicht haben. Die entscheidende Frage ist, ob diese Maschinen dann auch all die geistigen Fähigkeiten erwerben können, die als zutiefst menschlich empfunden werden. Im Zentrum steht dabei vor allem die Frage nach dem Bewusstsein. Gelingt es tatsächlich, Computer mit allen geistigen Fähigkeiten des Menschen auszustatten, so reicht unsere Fantasie kaum aus, die dadurch bedingten langfristigen Folgen für unsere Zivilisation vorauszusagen. Da die künstliche Intelligenz nicht den Einschränkungen des biologischen Lebens unterliegt, ist eine Entwicklung weit über die Fähigkeiten menschlicher Intelligenz hinaus denkbar. Dies schließt sogar eine potenzielle Unsterblichkeit ein - und somit den Abschied von der Wunschvorstellung, daß der Mensch die Krone der Schöpfung sei.

    Abstract
    This book describes efficient and effective techniques for harnessing the power of Linked Data by tackling the various aspects of managing its growing volume: storing, querying, reasoning, provenance management and benchmarking. To this end, Chapter 1 introduces the main concepts of the Semantic Web and Linked Data and provides a roadmap for the book. Next, Chapter 2 briefly presents the basic concepts underpinning Linked Data technologies that are discussed in the book. Chapter 3 then offers an overview of various techniques and systems for centrally querying RDF datasets, and Chapter 4 outlines various techniques and systems for efficiently querying large RDF datasets in distributed environments. Subsequently, Chapter 5 explores how streaming requirements are addressed in current, state-of-the-art RDF stream data processing. Chapter 6 covers performance and scaling issues of distributed RDF reasoning systems, while Chapter 7 details benchmarks for RDF query engines and instance matching systems. Chapter 8 addresses the provenance management for Linked Data and presents the different provenance models developed. Lastly, Chapter 9 offers a brief summary, highlighting and providing insights into some of the open challenges and research directions. Providing an updated overview of methods, technologies and systems related to Linked Data this book is mainly intended for students and researchers who are interested in the Linked Data domain. It enables students to gain an understanding of the foundations and underpinning technologies and standards for Linked Data, while researchers benefit from the in-depth coverage of the emerging and ongoing advances in Linked Data storing, querying, reasoning, and provenance management systems. Further, it serves as a starting point to tackle the next research challenges in the domain of Linked Data management.
