- PC-Katalogisierung mit RAK ist ein Praxis-Handbuch und wendet sich an Benutzer mit folgenden Anwendungsbedürfnissen: 1) PC-Einsatz, konfiguriert nach dem DBI- Pflichtenheft. 2) Softwareeinsatz für Programmierer, Softwarehäuser, Bibliotheken, Dokumentationsstellen, Institutionen. 3) Praktischer Ratgeber für Katalogisierer in Bibliotheken. Das Buch setzt eine gewisse Regelkenntnis für RAK-Definition voraus. Es ersetzt kein RAK-Lehrbuch. In den Anhängen befindet sich ua ein EDV- Glossar, eine Liste der Deskriptionszeichen, ein Stoppwortregister sowie Literaturhinweise.

- Abstract
- Diese Arbeit gibt einen auch für Nicht-Sinologen verständlichen Einblick in die bibliographische Welt dieses wichtigen außereuropäischen Kulturkreises und konfrontiert sie mit den existierenden Regelwerken für europäische Sprachen (RAK/AACR2). Der zweite Teil der Studie beschreibt nach einer Darstellung der Voraussetzungen für die Automatisierung im Hard- und Softwarebereich unter anderem die Katalogisierung in den amerikanischen CJK-Datenbanken von RLIN und OCLC und dann den gegenwärtigen Stand der automatischen Katalogisierung chinesischer Werke in Deutschland an drei Fallbeispielen: UB Heidelberg, SBB-PK, BSB München. Allegro erweist sich als geeignetes System auch für die Katalogisierung chinesischer Werke

- Abstract
- Seit der 1983 in zweiter Auflage erschienenen 'Katalogkunde: Formalkataloge und formale Ordnungsmethoden' hat sich durch die elektronische Datenverarbeitung die Arbeit im Bereich der Katalogisierung einschneidend verändert. Einerseits ist ein gewisser Entwicklungsprozeß noch nicht abgeschlossen (Regelwerke, Datenformate, Einbindung in den allgemeinen Informations- und Kommunikationsprozeß), andererseits ist das Wissen sowohl um konventionelle als auch um elektronische Kataloge auch in 'unsicheren Zeiten' nicht verzichtbar. Entsprechend versteht sich die Einführung als Hilfe für Unterricht, Fortbildung und Praxis in Zeiten des Umbruchs und der Entwicklung. Sie möge deshalb auch denen dienen, die nicht unmittelbar mit der Katalogisierung zu tun haben, aber Zusammenhänge erkennen wollen und Entscheidungen zu treffen haben

- Für alle Bibliotheken der Bundesrepublik Deutschland wurde ein einheitliches System der Titelaufnahme entwickelt: die RAK. Seit der Einführung der EDV im Bibliothekswesen und durch die verstärkte Zusammenarbeit in Verbünden und Netzen hat die Standardisierung der Katalogisierung noch mehr an Bedeutung gewonnen. In der Broschüre wird versucht, aus dem recht komplizierten und umfangreichen Regelwerk diejenigen Teile herauszugreifen, die für Schulbibliotheken relevant sind. Somit wird das Regelwerk auf ein handhabbares Maß reduziert. Die Anwendungen werden durch Beispiele erläutert

- Untersucht wird die Katalogisierung von Musikalien und Musiktontrögern nach Stimmen- und Interpretbesetzungen, um auch Recherchen nach Interpretennamen und Gesang- und Instrumentalstimmen zu ermöglichen. - "Formal- und Sachkatalogisierung in einem Arbeitsgang zu erledigen spart Zeit, macht die Katalogisierungstätigkeit interessanter und ist bei uns in kleinen Bibliotheken selbstverständlich, im Ausland häufig auch in großen Bibliotheken. Warum das in größerem Umfang nicht auch in useren großen Bibliotheken sein kann, leuchtet nicht recht ein, wenn man bedenkt, daß die Ausbildung der Diplombibliothekare im Fach Sacherschließung in der Regel umfangreicher und besser ist als die des höheren Bibliotheksdienstes. Die größere Fachkompetenz der Referenten des höheren Dienstes sei zugestanden, wenn der betreffende Fachreferent in dem von ihm studierten Fach tätig ist. Indes, es ist ja weitgehend nicht so: Im Durchschnitt betreut ein Fachreferent zwei- bis dreimal soviele Fächer, die er nicht studiert hat, im Vergleich zu denen, die er studiert hat. Es wäre also erfolgversprechend zu prüfen, in welchen Fällen sich auch in großen Bibliotheken eine ganzheitliche Katalogisierung durch Diplombibliothekare lohnt. Daß die Übernahme von Fremdleistungen für deutsche Bücher, auch was die Schlagwortketten der Deutschen Bibliothek betrifft, auch vom mittleren Dienst zu leisten ist, sollte bekannt sein. Unbestritten bleibt bleibt allerdings, daß die Sacherschließung von Büchern in entlegenen Sprachen von Bibliothekaren mit den entsprechenden Sprachkenntnissen durchgeführt werden muß, was allerdings nicht bedeutet, daß dies unbedingt Angehörige des höheren Bibliotheksdienstes sein müssen. Es bleibt zum Schluß die Feststellung, daß Bibliotheksdirektoren möglichst schon vor den Rechnungshöfen zu diesen Einsichten gelangen sollten"

- Die Veröffentlichung, die als praktische Hilfe für alle an der Thematik Interessierten angelegt ist und aus diesem Grund auch durch 11 ausführliche beispiele (Vorlage - gefelderte Form [MAB-Katgeorien] - ISBD-Form - Erläuterungen) ergänzt wird, enthält in einem Kapitel sowohl alle Bestimmungen der RAK-WB, die nur für alte Drucke gelten, als auch diejenigen, die insbesondere alte Drucke betreffen. - Abstract
- Der vorliegende Bericht über die Arbeit der Expertengruppe Online-Kataloge behandelt Themen, die für die deutschen Bibliotheken in den nächsten Jahren von zentraler Bedeutung sind. Die Kommission für Erschließung und Katalogmanagement des DBI hofft, daß sich aus diesen Vorschlägen eine lebhafte öffentliche Diskussion entwickelt und Leitlinien für die künftige Katalogisierung deutlich werden. Die ersten Ergebnisse der Diskussionen zur Formalerschließung unter Berücksichtigung der neuen Möglichkeiten und Erfordernisse der Online-Kataloge werden vorgestellt, wobei teilweise schon regelgerechte Formulierungen vorgeschlagen werden.

Der seit Beginn der redaktionellen Arbeiten an der PND laufenden Diskussion über die Erfassung von Normdatensätzen für einzelnen Personen und deren Verwendung in der Formalerschließung wollen Die Deutschen Bibliothek eine statistisch belegte Grundlage verschaffen und hat deshalb einen Test zur Ermittlung ihres Aufwands für die erweiterte Individualisierung durchgeführt. Der Test ermöglicht Aussagen über den Zeitaufwand und das Verhältnis von nichtindividualisierten zu individualisierten Datensätzen an Der Deutschen Bibliothek und belegt, daß der hauptsächliche Aufwand bei der retrospektiven Zuordnung von Titeln anfällt. Die Deutsche Bibliothek spricht sich auf der Grundlage des Tests für die Fortführung der Individualisierung aus

- Abstract
- Diese Einführung vermittelt mittlerweile in 5. überarbeiteter Auflage alle wichtigen Kenntnisse über die RAK-WB, das maßgebliche deutsche Regelwerk für die alphabetische Katalogisierung. Das Hauptgewicht der Darstellung liegt bei den Bestimmungen über Haupt- und Nebeneintragungen unter Personennamen, Sachtiteln und Körperschaftsnamen sowie deren Ansetzung. Neben den Grundregeln für die Katalogisierung ein- und mehrbändiger Einzelwerke, Sammlungen und Sammelwerke werden auch die Sonderregeln für Kongreßberichte, Bildbände, Bilderbücher, Kunstbände, Ausstellungskataloge, Hochschulschriften, Gesetze, Kommentare, Loseblattausgaben, Schulbücher, Reports und Normen behandelt. Die Einführung ist unverzichtbare Grundlage für die Studierenden der bibliothekarischen Lehrinstitute und die angehenden Bibliothekare in der praktischen Ausbildung. Da alle Regeln durch Beispiele erläutert werden und alle Regeländerungen der letzten Zeit berücksichtigt sind, ist dieses Standardwerk auch für das Selbststudium und für die Weiterbildung bereits im Beruf stehender Bibliothekare besonders geeignet.
