- Abstract
- Das Web 2.0 hat auch bei Bibliotheksnutzern zu veränderten Erwartungshaltungen an bibliothekarische Online-Angebote wie die Kataloge geführt. Diese waren lange Zeit statische Nachweisinstrumente, die heutzutage über das Angebot reiner Bestandsverzeichnisse hinausgehend verschiedene Web 2.0-Funktionalitäten sowie Zusatzinformationen mittels Kataloganreicherung integrierten sollten, um den Erwartungen der Nutzer zu genügen. Die Ergebnisse einer Online-Umfrage unter Nutzern einer Großstadtbibliothek unterstreichen dies: die Nutzer wünschen sich vielfältige Browsingmöglichkeiten, Google-ähnliche Suchmöglichkeiten, zusätzliche Inhalte und ein personalisier-bares Angebot. Welche Funktionen und Inhalte sollte ein Bibliothekskatalog im Zeitalter des Web 2.0 bieten? Am Beispiel der Stadtbücherei Frankfurt wird dargestellt wie Prinzipien des Web 2.0 - u.a. Nutzerfreundlichkeit und Kollaboration - auf das Online-Angebot übertragbar sind, ohne dabei den Personalaufwand, die rechtliche Absicherung der Bibliothek und Fragen der technischen Implementierung zu vergessen.

- Abstract
- Die kooperative Führung der Schlagwortnormdatei und die Gewährleistung der Qualität der in ihr enthaltenen Daten sind mit einem enormen Aufwand verbunden, der durch den Einsatz der EDV und geeignete Organisationsstrukturen nur geringfügig reduziert werden kann. Die Erstellung der SWD-Normdatensätze bleibt aufgrund der Vielzahl der den Ansetzungsformen beizufügenden Zusatzinformationen wie Codes, Notationen und Relationen relativ zeitintensiv. Diese lassen jedoch auch die SWD besonders wertvoll für die Recherche werden, da sie die Wiederauffindbarkeit der Daten unterstützen. Während die Schlagwortsuche in deutschen OPACs weit verbreitet ist, haben Codes, Notationen und Relationen bisher nur geringfügig Eingang in den OPAC gefunden. Bei einer Untersuchung von 111 Online-Katalogen wurde festgestellt, dass kein einziger OPAC all die Möglichkeiten nutzt, die mit der SWD gegeben sind. Am meisten werden noch Synonyme und - in geringerem Maße - hierarchische und assoziative Relationen zur Verbesserung des Recalls und zur Benutzerführung eingesetzt. Codes und Notationen finden nur vereinzelt Anwendung.

- "Der etwas provokante Titel soll keineswegs eine Dichotomie zwischen bibliothekarischer und nutzerorientierter Erschließung implizieren, sondern zwei Fragen stellen: Was suchen Nutzer in Bibliotheken? Was wollen Nutzer wissen? Die Antwort darauf wird immer heißen: Nutzer suchen nach Inhalten und wollen Informationen über Inhalte. Formale Aspekte, die unter bibliothekarischen Gesichtspunkten durchaus bedeutend sind, spielen für den Nutzer keine große Rolle, Schlagworte als Instrumente der verbalen Sacherschließung beschreiben Inhalte häufig unzureichend und sind für Nutzer vielfach unverständlich. Die bunten Kataloge der Internet-Buchhändler stellen zunehmend einen Kontrast, aber auch eine Konkurrenz zu unseren OPACs dar. Wer in diesen Katalogen recherchiert, findet zwar meist nur eine rudimentäre und natürlich bibliothekarischen Kriterien nicht entsprechende Titelbeschreibung, dafür jedoch regelmäßig zusätzliche Informationen wie Abstracts oder Verlagsinformationen, Rezensionen, Abbildungen, Textproben. Sollen wir uns nun den Katalog von Amazon.de (und seiner Konkurrenten) zum Vorbild nehmen? Wir meinen ja und erfassen daher Abstracts und andere Inhaltsinformationen, die wir mit unseren Titelaufnahmen im Verbund verlinken. Wir sehen darin eine Fortsetzung unseres seit einigen Jahren verfolgten Zieles, die traditionelle Sach- und Formalerschließung um neue Komponenten zu erweitern. Seit 1997 beteiligen wir uns an der kooperativen Aufsatzerschließung, insbesondere durch die Katalogisierung von Festschriftenaufsätzen. Aufsätze in fortlaufenden Sammelwerken katalogisieren wir nur ausnahmsweise, jedoch weisen wir von den Verlagen im Internet angebotene Inhaltsinformationen über Zeitschriften (Inhaltsverzeichnisse, Abstracts, Volltexte) auf der lokalen Ebene nach. Mit unserem Versuch, Abstracts in eine Datenbank des Verbundes einzustellen, haben wir Ende 2000 begonnen. Von ausgewählten Monographien werden Klappentexte, Verlagsinformationen und Abstracts erfasst und mit der Titelaufnahme verlinkt. Unser bisheriges Verfahren ist handgestrickt - hat aber den Vorteil, dass es ohne zusätzliche Technik auskommt und unmittelbar umsetzbar ist: In einem ersten Schritt werden Klappentexte und Inhaltsinformationen von geeigneten Werken ausgewählt. Die Auswahl berücksichtigt sowohl die Bedeutung des Buches wie Umfang und Qualität der Inhaltsinformationen. Bei einzelnen Verlagen ist es möglich, die Texte direkt von den Webseiten des Verlages per copy-and-paste zu übernehmen. Die Doktoranden unserer Fakultät bitten wir um die Lieferung des Abstracts als Textdatei. Die durch Einscannen, Abschreiben oder Kopieren erzeugte Textdatei wird im nächsten Schritt in eine vom BSZ entwickelte Muster-HTML-Datei kopiert, konvertiert und mit der SWBIdentnummer versehen. Anschließend senden wir diese Datei per E-Mail an den Verbund. Der Verbund stellt unsere Dateien in den BSZ-Medienserver (http://www.bszbw.de/diglib/medserv/metainfhtml) ein, auf dem z.B. auch die ebenfalls mit den VerbundTiteldaten verlinkten IfB- und ekz-Rezensionen gespeichert werden."

- Abstract
- Wissenschaftliche Bibliotheken werden heutzutage durch Universalsuchmaschinen wie Google bedroht. Ein Grund hierfür ist, dass Bibliotheken auf Rechercheinstrumente setzen die, die heutigen Erwartungen ihrer Nutzer nicht mehr erfüllen können. Wollen Bibliotheken auch zukünftig eine tragende Rolle spielen, müssen sie die Techniken in ihrer Produkte integrieren, die Suchmaschinen zu ihrem Erfolg im Web verholfen haben.

- Abstract
- Der Artikel betrachtet anhand einer Studie zum Benutzerverhalten bei der Online-Katalogrecherche den gegenwärtigen Stellenwert und das zukünftige Potential der Web-OPACs. Dabei werden zunächst die Ergebnisse einer quantitativen Logfile-Analyse sowie qualitativer Benutzertests erörtert, bevor aktuelle Entwicklungen der Webtechnologie, die unter den Schlagworten Web 2.0 und Web 3.0 propagiert werden, im Zusammenhang mit der Online-Recherche und der Entwicklung neuartiger Suchverfahren kurz diskutiert werden.

- Abstract
- OPACs haben in den vergangenen Jahren wesentlich zu einer größeren Auskunftsbereitschaft über vorhandene Bibliotheksbestände beigetragen. Sie sind inzwischen nützlich und erschwinglich als Arbeitsplatzsysteme für kleinere Bibliotheksbestände. Sie sind benutzerfreundlich und können dadurch u.a. Bibliothekspersonal von Routineaufgaben entlasten. Besonders wirkungsvoll läßt sich der OPAC im Rahmen einer Verbundkatalogisierung nutzen und als wichtiges Element für die Gestaltung regionaler Bibliotheksinformationssysteme einsetzen. Die Autoen geben Beispiele für neue Entwicklungen in den USA und beschreiben die damit zusammenhängenden Probleme der Verbundkatalogisierung. Außerdem wird das Problem der Benutzerakzeptanz für OPAC diskutiert

- Abstract
- Das "Statement of Principles" - allgemein bekannt als "Paris Principles" - wurde 1961 von der International Conference an Cataloguing Principles verabschiedet. Sein Ziel, als Basis für die internationale Standardisierung in der Katalogisierung zu dienen, ist sicherlich erreicht worden: Die meisten Katalogisierungsregelwerke, die in der Folgezeit weltweit entwickelt wurden, folgten den Prinzipien ganz oder wenigstens in hohem Maß. Mehr als vierzig Jahre später ist das Bedürfnis nach gemeinsamen internationalen Katalogisierungsregeln gewachsen, weil Katalogisierer und Benutzer weltweit OPACs (Online Public Access Catalogues = Online-Benutzerkataloge) nutzen. An der Schwelle des 21. Jahrhunderts hat die IFLA einen Vorstoß unternommen, die "Paris Principles" Zielsetzungen anzupassen, die auf Online-Bibliothekskataloge und auch darüber hinaus anwendbar sind. Oberstes Ziel ist es, den Benutzerbedürfnissen zu dienen. Die neuen Prinzipien ersetzen die "Paris Principles" und weiten sie aus von rein textlichen Werken auf alle Materialarten und von der Bestimmung und Form einer Eintragung auf alle Aspekte von bibliografischen Datensätzen und Normdatensätzen, die in Bibliothekskatalogen genutzt werden. Die folgenden Prinzipien, die den Status eines Entwurfs haben, umfassen: 1. Geltungsbereich 2. Entitäten, Merkmale und Beziehungen 3. Aufgaben des Katalogs 4. Bibliografische Beschreibung 5. Sucheinstiege 6. Normdatensätze 7. Grundlagen für Suchfunktionen

Popst: In der deutschen Übersetzung der "Statement of Principles" hat die Arbeitsstelle freundlicherweise die Mitarbeit von Herrn Croissant, Herrn Popst und mir bei der Übersetzung erwähnt. Dabei muss aber unsererseits betont werden, dass an ganz entscheidenden Stellen unsere Vorschläge nicht akzeptiert wurden. Dies sind u.a.: -- expression: unser Vorschlag war "Fassung", da es Expression im Deutschen nicht im Sinn von FRBR gibt -- manifestation: unser Vorschlag "physische Form" - Manisfestation gibt es ebenfalls so nicht -- concept: unser Vorschlag: "Abstraktum". Es geht aus den Beispielen in FRBR hervor, dass nicht Konzept gemeint ist. -- object: unser Vorschlag: "Gegenstand" -- place: unser Vorschlag: "geographische Einheit". Die Bedeutung in FRBR geht über Ort weit hinaus, -- agent: unser Vorschlag "Person oder Körperschaft" -- creator: unser Vorschlag: verantwortliche Person oder Körperschaft. Eine Körperschaft kann kaum ein geistiger Schöfper sein und Schöpfer läßt eine andere Assoziation zu. - Abstract
- Elektronische Bibliothekskataloge und Bibliografien haben ihr Monopol bei der Suche nach Büchern, Aufsätzen, musikalischen Werken u. a. verloren. Globale Suchmaschinen sind starke Konkurrenten, und Bibliotheken müssen heute so planen, dass ihre Dienstleistungen auch morgen noch interessant sind. Die Deutsche Bibliothek (DDB) wird ihre traditionelle Katalogrecherche zu einem globalen, netzbasierten Informationssystem erweitern, das die Vorteile der neutralen, qualitätsbasierten Katalogsuche mit den Vorteilen moderner Suchmaschinen zu verbinden sucht. Dieser Beitrag beschäftigt sich mit der Verbesserung der inhaltlichen Suchmöglichkeiten im Informationssystem Der Deutschen Bibliothek. Weitere Entwicklungsstränge sollen nur kurz im Ausblick angerissen werden.

- "Frau Wiesmüller möge mir verzeihen, aber was sie da mit Bellinda Woppada zur Katalogisierung in öffentlichen Bibliotheken zusammengeschrieben hat, ist für mich aus Benutzersicht ziemlich uninteressant. Es gibt bisher kaum Literatur zu diesem Thema, das aber nach Ansicht der Autorinnen wichtiger ist als es scheint. Meine These lautet: Es muss für BenutzerInnen katalogisiert werden, aber schon ein sehr sehr kurzer Blick auf einige OPACs macht deutlich, wieviel da im Argen liegt. Zu den einzelnen Medien sollte möglichst viel Information als Entscheidungshilfe vorliegen, und das kann nur durch viel mehr Kooperation der Bibliotheken realisiert werden. Die Optik ist meist katastrophal. Die OPACs geben sich ästhetisch abschreckend auf dem Stand der 1990er Jahre, Coverbilder gibt es weniger, als ich gedacht hätte."

- Abstract
- Katalogisierung über den Rechner bedeutet immer auch, einen OPAC aufzubauen, der es erlaubt, nach unterschiedlichen Merkmalen - formal und sachlich - und mit deren Kombination zu recherchieren. Die Freiwortrecherche wird von den Benutzern gern verwendet, obwohl dabei die Recall Ration (Vollständigkeit) nicht ausgeschöpft wird. Die Nutzung von Schlagwörtern sollte deren Standardisierung in einer Normdatei voraussetzen, um den Subjektivismus der Katalogisierer auszuschalten. Schlagwortketten sind prinzipiell für einen OPAC überflüssig. Bei Verwendung einer hierarchischen, d.h. systematischen Klassifikation sollte deren Notation systemkohärent, flexibel und synthetisch (Facetten bzw. Schlüssel) sein. Mit Hilfe von Registern sind Schlagwörter und Systemnotationen vice versa zu verknüpfen. - Abstract
- Das "Statement of Principles" - allgemein bekannt als "Paris Principles" - wurde 1961 von der International Conference on Cataloguing Principles verabschiedet. Sein Ziel, als Basis für die internationale Standardisierung in der Katalogisierung zu dienen, ist sicherlich erreicht worden: Die meisten Katalogisierungsregelwerke, die in der Folgezeit weltweit entwickelt wurden, folgten den Prinzipien ganz oder wenigstens in hohem Maß. Mehr als vierzig Jahre später ist das Bedürfnis nach gemeinsamen internationalen Katalogisierungsregeln gewachsen, weil Katalogisierer und Benutzer weltweit OPACs (Online Public Access Catalogues = Online-Benutzerkataloge) nutzen. An der Schwelle des 21. Jahrhunderts hat die IFLA einen Vorstoß unternommen, neue Prinzipien zu erarbeiten, die auf Online-Bibliothekskataloge und auch darüber hinaus anwendbar sind. Das oberste Prinzip ist der Komfort des Katalognutzers. Diese Erklärung ersetzt die "Paris Principles" und weitet den Geltungsbereich von rein textlichen Werken auf alle Materialarten aus und von der Bestimmung und Form einer Eintragung auf alle Aspekte von bibliografischen Daten und Normdaten, die in Bibliothekskatalogen genutzt werden. Sie umfasst nicht nur Prinzipien und Ziele (d. h. Funktionen des Katalogs), sondern auch Regelungen, die international in Katalogisierungsregelwerken enthalten sein sollten, und gibt Anleitung für Suchfunktionen. Die Prinzipien bauen auf den großen Katalogtraditionen der Welt sowie auf dem konzeptionellen Modell der Functional Requirements for Bibliographic Records (FRBR) der IFLA auf.

- Abstract
- Die Suchmaschinentechnologie der Internetsuchmaschinen wie Google und Yahoo haben die Erwartungen der Benutzer von Bibliotheks OPACs verändert. Relevance Ranking Sortierung bei der Ausgabe von Trefferlisten wird von den Benutzern vermehrt als normal angesehen. Bibliotheks-OPACs sind durch die Erwartungen der Benutzer im Zugzwang, sich den Erwartungen anzupassen. Bibliotheken, die damit begonnen haben Relevance Ranking in ihr System zu implementieren, verwenden dabei verschiedene Lösungsansätze. Sowohl die Darstellung als auch die Funktionalität ist ungleich und noch im Stadium der Erprobung und Entwicklung. Die Kataloganreicherung durch Inhaltsverzeichnisse und Abstracts geht tendenziell mit der effektiven Nutzung von bekannten Relevance Ranking Algorithmen in der Umgebung der Bibliotheks-OPACs einher. Um mit den Erwartungen der Benutzer, die sich durch die Nutzung der Internetsuchmaschinen ändern, müssen Bibliotheken sich der Aufgabe stellen, neue Funktionen in ihre OPACs zu implementieren ohne dabei die Hauptfunktionen des OPACs zu behindern.
