- Abstract
- Es wird versucht, quantitative Werte zur Messung der Informationskompetenz von Volkswirtschaften zu entwickeln. Zudem sollen Korrelationen zwischen der Informationskompetenz und der wirtschaftlichen Leistungsfähigkeit darüber Auskunft geben, wie Gesamtwirtschaft und Inforinationswirtschaft eines Landes zusammenhängen. Operationalisierung. "Informationskompetenz" wird durch den Umsatz auf nationalen Business-toBusiness-Märkten operationalisiert. Abgeleitete Größen sind Pro-KopfImport- und Exportvolumen, Informationsproduktion und -konsumtion (insgesamt und pro Kopf) sowie der Anteil der Informationswirtschaft am jeweiligen nationalen Bruttoinlandsprodukt (BIP). Datenbasis. Im Rahmen der "Member States' Study" der Europäischen Kommission wurden für den gesamten Europäischen Wirtschaftsraum (EWR; Staaten der Europäischen Union sowie Norwegen und Island) für die Jahre 1994 und 1997 Umsatzzahlen der 17 Länder erhoben. Diese Zahlen wurden auf Plausibilität überprüft und unserer Fragestellung zugrundegelegt. Ergebnisse. Der Anteil der Informationswirtschaft am BIP ist derart gering (EWR: 0,070% im Jahr 1997), daß er nahezu ignoriert werden kann. Die Korrelation zwischen dem BIP pro Kopf und der Informationskonsumtion pro Kopf ist jedoch äußerst hoch (+0,715 im Jahr 1994 und +0,642 im Jahr 1997), ebenso die Korrelation zwischen BIP pro Kopf und Informationsimport pro Kopf (+0,588 im Jahr 1994 sowie +0,583 im Jahr 1997)

- Abstract
- Die Kernaufgabe des Instituts für Deutsche Sprache (IDS) ist die Erforschung und Dokumentation der deutschen Sprache. Dazu sammelt und archiviert das IDS einen umfangreichen Bestand an Forschungsprimärdaten in Form von Korpora der geschriebenen und gesprochenen Sprache sowie Sekundärdaten, wie zum Beispiel lexikographische Ressourcen. Dieser Beitrag gibt einen Überblick über den Datenbestand des IDS und die laufenden Forschungskooperationen im Bereich der Langzeitarchivierung. In diesem Kontext wird das im Aufbau befindliche Langzeitarchiv des IDS mit seiner Architektur,den zugrundeliegenden Prinzipien zur Daten- und Metadatenmodellierung sowie den daraus abgeleiteten Erfassungsprozessen vorgestellt. Der Beitrag schließt ab mit einem Ausblick auf die Herausforderungen und Perspektiven des Forschungsdatenmanagements aus Sicht der germanistischen Linguistik.

- Abstract
- Gerade die Forschungsdaten, die innerhalb von wissenschaftlicher Zusammenarbeit anfallen, werden mehr und mehr zur Hauptressource der wissenschaftlichen Arbeit. Für diese Daten der sog. Gruppendomäne stehen jedoch nur unzureichende Infrastrukturen bereit. Angeregt durch die Diskussion der letzten Jahre haben die Förderer, allen voran die Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG), verschiedene Förderprogramme ins Leben gerufen, um Forschungsprojekten ein adäquates Forschungsdatenmanagement zu ermöglichen. Es ist an der Zeit zu hinterfragen, inwieweit diese Maßnahmen Früchte tragen und wie sie weiterentwickelt werden können. In diesem Artikel wird insbesondere die Rolle der INF-Projekte in den Sonderforschungsbereichen (SFB) und Transregio der DFG, der DFG-Ausschreibung »Infrastrukturen für Forschungsdaten« vom April zolo, und von Virtuellen Forschungsumgebungen kritisch diskutiert.

- Abstract
- Die Sozialwissenschaften bestehen aus verschiedenen Fachdisziplinen, die sich mit gesellschaftlichen Fragestellungen befassen. Zur Untersuchung von sozialer Wirklichkeit werden Daten benötigt.Diesewerden in unterschiedlicherArt und Weise erhoben und in vielen Fällen für weitere Forschungsvorhaben zur Verfügung gestellt. Damit die Daten für andere von Nutzen sind, müssen sie entsprechend dokumentiert, aufbereitet und archiviert werden. Dies geschieht in Forschungsdatenzentren, Datenservicezentren ebenso wie in Datenarchiven. Bei sozialwissenschaftlichen Erhebungen werden regelmäßig Daten von Individuen erhoben, das bedeutet, dass der Datenschutz eine große Rolle spielt. Fragen bezüglich Datenmanagement und Langzeitarchivierung gewinnen auch in den Sozialwissenschaften zunehmend an Bedeutung.

- Abstract
- Erfahrungen bei der Einführung von Wissensmanagement zeigen, dass eine ganzheitliche Herangehensweise erforderlich ist. Ausgehend von der Darstellung eines Vorgehensmodells zum Wissensmanagement betrachtet der Artikel speziell das Thema Klassifikation von Informations- und Wissensbeständen. Die Verfügbarkeit einer sinnvollen Klassifikation hat entscheidenden Einfluss auf die Akzeptanz und optimale Nutzung des technisch realisierten Wissensmanagements. Sie bietet den Vorteil, dass die Nutzer des Systems eine gemeinsame Sprache bzw. Semantik zur Beschreibung der Wissensinhalte verwenden und somit gleiche Inhalte auch gleich bezeichnen

- Abstract
- Grundlage jeder effizienten Informationsversorgung ist die Kenntnis vorhandener und zugänglicher Informationsmöglichkeiten. Bereits daran mangelt es aber in der betrieblichen Praxis: Unüberschaubar ist die Vielzahl der in verschiedenen organisatorischen Einheiten produzierten, angesammelten, verfügbaren und genutzten Informationsressourcen. In der Regel sind weder zentrale Informations-Clearing-Stellen noch sog. Metainformations-Systeme vorhanden, die darüber Auskunft geben könnten, wo welche Informationen in welcher Form erfaßt und auch nachgefragt werden können. Da ist es keineswegs verwunderlich, wenn in vielen Unternehmen das Paradoxon der unzureichenden Nutzung und gleichzeitigen Mehrfachbeschaffung von Informationen zum Berufsalltag gehört

- Abstract
- In der Zeit des Internets und E-Commerce müssen auch deutsche Informationsfachleute ihre Dienste auf Englisch anbieten und sogar auf Englisch gestalten, um die internationale Community zu erreichen. Auf der anderen Seite spielt gerade auf dem Wissensmarkt Europa die sprachliche Identität der einzelnen Nationen eine große Rolle. In diesem Spannungsfeld zwischen Globalisierung und Lokalisierung arbeiten Informationsvermittler und werden dabei von Sprachspezialisten unterstützt. Man muss sich darüber im Klaren sein, dass jede Sprache - auch die für international gehaltene Sprache Englisch - eine Sprachgemeinschaft darstellt. In diesem Beitrag wird anhand aktueller Beispiele gezeigt, dass Sprache nicht nur grammatikalisch und terminologisch korrekt sein muss, sie soll auch den sprachlichen Erwartungen der Rezipienten gerecht werden, um die Grenzen der Sprachwelt nicht zu verletzen. Die Rolle der Sprachspezialisten besteht daher darin, die Informationsvermittlung zwischen diesen Welten reibungslos zu gestalten
