    Abstract
    Betrachtet wird der europäische Entwurf der Informationsgesellschaft in der Folge des EG-Weißbuches von 1993 und der Tagung in Korfu (1994). Es zeigt sich die zentrale Rolle des Informationsengineering. Hier geht es um die Produktion, Speicherung, Verteilung und Abfrage von Informationen. Wirtschaftliche Kennziffern beleuchten den deutschen Informationsmarkt (Online-Datenbanken, CD-ROM, Videotex, professionelle Informationsvermittlung). Die Relevanz elektronischer Informationsdienste für die betriebswirtschaftliche Praxis (Branchen- und Konkurrenzanalysen, Benchmarking) wird anhand von konkreten Beispielrecherchen demonstriert. Elektronische Datenbanken gestatten, die wissenschaftliche Forschung im Rahmen der Wissenschaftsevaluation mittels Publikations- Zitations- oder Themenanalysen zu beschreiben und zu bewerten. Ein Kapitel beschreibt detailliert diejenigen Tätigkeiten, die beim Auf- und Ausbau elektronischer Informationsdienste routinemäßig durchgeführt werden, mit dem Ziel, Qualitätsmerkmale für die Informationstätigkeit abzuleiten. Die Komplexität der Informationstätigkeiten führt u.a. in Bereiche der fuzzy logic und der Informationshermeneutik. Abgeschlossen wird das Buch mit einer 'Anatomie' einer konkreten Datenbank. Beispiel ist die ifo Literaturdatenbank, die erfolgreich bei mehreren Hosts als Online-Datenbank sowie zusätzlich als CD-ROM Datenbank vermarktet wird

    Grundlage jeder effizienten Informationsversorgung ist die Kenntnis vorhandener und zugänglicher Informationsmöglichkeiten.     Abstract
    Das schnelle Wachstum des Internet und des WWW vermehrt und verändert den Bezug, die Nutzung und damit auch den Wert von Informationen. Informationen wurden bisher zwar als kritischer Erfolgsfaktor für materielle und immaterielle Wertschöpfung erkannt, entzogen sich aber einer ökonomischen Betrachtungsweise. In dem vorliegenden Buch wird versucht, Informationen vor allem als marktfähige Dienstleistungen bzw. Produkte im Umfeld der derzeitigen informationstechnologischen Entwicklung zu betrachten. Dazu bedarf es vieler anderer Sichtweisen bewährter ökonomischer Modelle. Qualitätsmanagement, Logistik, Technologie-Management, Organisation, Marketing, Struktur der Märkte, die Interaktion zwischen geänderten Angebots- und Nachfragestrukturen etc. gestalten sich unter dem Einfluß der derzeitigen technologischen Rahmenbedingungen häufig nicht nur für Informationsproduzenten und -dienstleister, sondern auch für große Teile eines konvergierenden Sachgüter- und Dienstleistungssektors gänzlich anders.     Abstract
    Information spielt heute im Wirtschaftsgeschehen eine überragende Rolle. Die Bedeutung der Information und des gesamten Umgangs mit Information schlägt sich auch im Ausbildungsbereich nieder. Das Studium der Prozesse und Maßnahmen zur effizienten Gewinnung und Nutzung von Information und zur Gestaltung effizienter Informationsverarbeitung ist für Studenten unverzichtbar. Dieses Lehrbuch vermittelt Wirtschaftswissenschaftlern systematisch die wesentlichen Kenntnisse für das Verständnis des Zusammenwirkens von Hard- und Software im betrieblichen Einsatz. Ein Anhang mit Lösungen zu den im Buch enthaltenen Übungsbeispielen will den praxisbezogenen Ansatz des Buches betonen und den Zugang zur Informationswirtschaft erleichtern. Die 2.
