    Abstract
    Der Einfluss der Platzierung auf die Orientierung in der Bibliothek ist ein wichtiges, bisher weitgehend vernachlässigtes Kriterium in Öffentlichen Bibliotheken. Die Arbeit analysiert eine kundenorientierte Platzierung der Medien, die das Kriterium der Sucheffizienz erfüllt.Das Instrument Bibliotheksgestaltung wird systematisiert und zum ersten Mal im Bibliothekswesen eine begriffliche Abgrenzung der beiden Entscheidungsbereiche Präsentation und Platzierung vorgenommen. Die für eine kundenorientierte Platzierung dargelegten, theoretischen Grundlagen bilden die Basis für die empirischen Erhebungen in zwei Öffentlichen Bibliotheken. Im Vordergrund stehen die Analyse des Platzierungswissens sowie die Ermittlung einer kundenorientierten Platzierung der Wissensbereiche und ihrer Farbassoziationen.

    Abstract
    Im Mittelpunkt dieser Arbeit steht das Projekt Einheitsklassifikation der Arbeitsstelle für das Bibliothekswesen (AfB), das die bibliothekarische Öffentlichkeit während der Zeit von 1969 bis 1977 intensiv beschäftigte. Dieser erfolglos beendete Versuch zur Durchsetzung einer einhetlichen klassifikatorischen Sacherschließung für die Bibliotheken in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland steht in der Tradition früher schon gescheiterter Unternehmungen mit ähnlicher Zielsetzung. In anderer Hinsicht wurde mit ihm auch neues, bisher nicht erreichtes Terrain betreten.

    Abstract
    Der bedeutende Einfluss der Atmosphäre in der Bibliothek auf das Kundenverhalten erfordert den gezielten Einsatz des Marketinginstrumentes Bibliotheksgestaltung. Das Buch zeigt Kundenansprüche auf und legt die wichtigen Elemente Medienplatzierungsgruppen für insbesondere Befristete Platzierungen, Platzierungsort und Platzierungsart sowie Bestandsträger, Beschilderung und Dekoration dar, die der Bibliothek individuelle Gestaltungsmöglichkeiten bieten. Durch die Darstellung der Umsetzung in Bibliotheken und dem Buchhandel mit zahlreichen Beispielen sowie anhand von Abbildungen, Fotos und Lageplänen besitzt das Buch einen hohen Praxisbezug. Die kundenorientierte Gestaltung fußt auf Strukturen kognitiver Kategorien und wird mit Beispielen empirischer Erhebungen in 3 öffentlichen Bibliotheken gestützt: Analysen und Neugestaltungen in diesen Bibliotheken zeigen die Attraktivität, Qualität sowie die Kunden- und Mitarbeiterzufriedenheit.

    Abstract
    Die Berliner Öffentlichen Bibliotheken haben sich im Jahr 2010 entschieden eine für alle Bezirke einheitliche Klassifikation einzuführen. Als Hauptbestandteil dieser sogenannten Verbundsystematik zählt die Systematik für Bibliotheken (SfB), die schwerpunktmäßig berücksichtigt wird. Gegenstand der hier vorgestellten Arbeit ist zum einen die Darstellung der Einführung der Verbundsystematik für die Öffentlichen Bibliotheken Berlins und zum anderen die Analyse und Auswertung der Organisation dieses Projektes am Beispiel des Bezirkes Berlin-Mitte. Ziel ist es zu erörtern, wie die Umsetzung im Bezirk gestaltet wurde und ob Verbesserungspotentiale festgestellt werden können. Anschließend werden Vorschläge zur Optimierung des Verfahrens dargestellt.

    Abstract
    Der praktische Einsatz der Dewey-Dezimalklassifikation (DDC) für die inhaltliche Erschließung sowie als Aufstellungssystematik in wissenschaftlichen Bibliotheken des deutschen Sprachraums hat wenig Tradition und wurde bisher von der Literatur kaum aufgearbeitet. Nach einer Darstellung der Rahmenbedingungen und der Problemlage in der Fachbereichsbibliothek Afrikanistik/Orientalistik der Universität Wien, gibt der Autor einen Überblick über die Erfahrungen mit und die Einschätzung von DDC in vergleichbaren wissenschaftlichen Bibliotheken vor allem im deutschen und englischen Sprachraum, definiert Kriterien für eine neue Systematik und klärt inwieweit diese mit dem Einsatz von DDC erfüllbar sind. Ausgehend von den quantitativen und räumlichen Rahmenbedingungen und der Segmentierung des Bestandes im Hinblick auf die Erfordernisse der Reklassifikation, sowie auf der Basis eigener Erfahrungen und Plausibilitätsprüfungen schätzt der Autor anhand von drei Varianten den nötigen Personal- und Zeitaufwand für den Einsatz von DDC im Rahmen eines Reklassifizierungsprojektes. Abschließend enthält die vorliegende Arbeit praktische Erfahrungen im Umgang mit der DDC am Beispiel des Themenbereiches "Islamwissenschaft", durch die auf einige Besonderheiten und Probleme bei der Verwendung von DDC für die Reklassifizierung hingewiesen wird.

    Abstract
    Während die DDC in den USA als Aufstellungssystematik vor allem in öffentlichen Bibliotheken weit verbreitet ist, stellt sie in deutschen Freihandbeständen bisher ein Randphänomen dar. Stattdessen arbeiten deutsche Bibliotheken häufig noch mit Haussystematiken oder setzen auf die RVK. Seit sich die RVK nach der deutschen Wiedervereinigung über die bayerischen Grenzen hinaus verbreitet hat, ist sie meist die erste Wahl, wenn bei der Aufstellungssystematik eine Umstiegsentscheidung ansteht. Ihr hoher Verbreitungsgrad und das damit verbundene umfangreiche Fremddatenangebot machen die RVK zur attraktiven Alternative zu den Haussystematiken, die zwar für die eigenen Bedürfnisse maßgeschneidert sind, deren Anwendung durch das fehlende Fremddatenangebot im Zeitalter der Onlinekatalogisierung jedoch unwirtschaftlich geworden ist. Durch ihre starke Verbreitung im anglo-amerikanischen Raum besteht für die DDC traditionell ein großes Fremddatenangebot bei englischsprachigen Titeln. Dies führte dazu, dass einige deutsche Bibliotheken mit hohem Anteil englischsprachiger Literatur, wie etwa die Bibliothek des John-F.-Kennedy-Instituts für Nordamerikastudien an der Freien Universität Berlin (JFKI), die DDC zur Aufstellung ihrer Bücher gewählt haben. Aufgrund der mangelnden Fremddaten für deutschsprachige Titel blieb die Ausbreitung der DDC jedoch auf diese Ausnahmen beschränkt. Diese Rahmenbedingungen ändern sich nun mit dem Vorliegen der deutschen DDC-Übersetzung und dem daran anknüpfenden neuen Sacherschließungskonzept der Deutschen Nationalbibliothek (DNB), das 2007 eingeführt wurde. Mit dem wachsenden DDC-Fremddatenangebot auch für deutschsprachige Titel stellt sich jetzt die Frage, unter welchen Umständen die DDC bei einem Umstieg auf eine überregionale Aufstellungssystematik eine Alternative zur RVK darstellen kann. Dieser Frage widmet sich der vorliegende Beitrag nach einer Darstellung der unterschiedlichen Ausgangssituationen in den USA und Deutschland, einem überblicksartigen Vergleich der beiden Klassifikationen und der Beschreibung der praktischen DDC-Anwendung am JFKI.

    Abstract
    Die ASB hat Zuwachs bekommen! Lange ging die Arbeitsgruppe 'ASB-Überarbeitung' mit der Idee schwanger, die Hauptgruppenfamilie zu vergrößern. Auf der 16. Sitzung erblickte nun 'Z' das Licht der (ASB-)Welt! Im folgenden weitere Informationen über die Zusammenkunft der Arbeitsgruppe, die vom 3. bis 5. Dezember '98 in der Stadtbücherei Stuttgart stattfand. Schwerpunkte der Sitzung waren die Hauptgruppen R,S,U und V. Darüber hinaus konnten die Gliederungsentwürfe für die Hautpgruppen G, M und Y endgültig abgeschlossen werden. Einige Entscheidungen aus vorangegangenen Beratungsrunden wurden modifiziert - ein Beleg für die Dynamik des Überarbeitungsprozesses und das ungebrochene Engagement aller Beteiligten!     Abstract
    Obwohl das Thema Imagebildung an Bibliotheken in den letzten Jahren immer mehr an Bedeutung gewonnen hat, wird die Gestaltung von Leit- und Orientierungssystemen dabei kaum in die Überlegungen einbezogen. Man spricht oft von einer "virtuellen Bibliothek", konzentriert sich darauf, den Benutzern die Mediensuche und -bestellung über das Internet - nicht zuletzt durch gute graphische Gestaltung der Benutzerführung auf der Homepage - so komfortabel wie möglich zu gestalten. Dabei vergisst man jedoch zumeist, dass die Benutzer zum Abholen und Zurückgeben der Medien, zur Nutzung von Freihand-, Lesesaal- und Sonderbeständen sowie zum Besuch von Ausstellungen und Veranstaltungen, die im Rahmen der Öffentlichkeitsarbeit stattfinden, immer noch die Bibliothek als Gebäude aufsuchen und sich dort zurechtfinden müssen. Eine gute inhaltliche und graphische Konzeption und Gestaltung des Leit- und Orientierungssystems ist hierbei ein prägnanter Teil der benutzerorientierten Öffentlichkeitsarbeit einer wissenschaftlichen Bibliothek. Das Leit- und Orientierungssystern kann das Image der Bibliothek nachhaltig verbessern und die Bindung der Benutzer an die Bibliothek verstärken.     Abstract
    Die Aufstellung nach Interessenkreisen wurde in den 1980er und 1990er Jahren im Umfeld der Öffentlichen Bibliotheken viel diskutiert. Danach geriet das Thema aus dem Rampenlicht. Erst mit den sogenannten Themenbibliotheken und Themenwelten gewann es wieder an Bedeutung. Im Rahmen der vorliegenden Arbeit wird dargestellt, wie eine kleine Öffentliche Bibliothek die Umstellung ihres Belletristikbereichs nach Interessenkreisen realisiert und dabei ihre Nutzer "ins Boot holt". Der aus dem Marketing stammende Ansatz der User Driven Innovation wird dabei in die Tat umgesetzt. Die Arbeit zeigt, wie sich eine Befragung der Nutzer über die Methode der Gruppendiskussion auf die Erarbeitung eines Sets an Interessenkreisen für die Belletristik niederschlägt und erläutert die konkrete Umsetzung des Vorhabens. Vorher wird die Aufstellung nach Interessenkreisen konzeptionell erarbeitet und die Methode der Gruppendiskussion im Kontext der Befragung von Nutzern in Bibliotheken erläutert.

    Abstract
    Der nachfolgende Aufsatz berichtet über die Einführung der Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) an schwedischen Bibliotheken im Rahmen eines Projekts der schwedischen Nationalbibliothek (Kungliga biblioteket) während der Jahre 2009 bis 2012. Dazu wird zunächst ein kurzer Überblick über den heutigen Stand der sachlichen Erschließung an schwedischen Bibliotheken gegeben, geschichtliche Hintergründe beschrieben und kursorisch die Struktur der Klassifikation "SAB:s Klassifikationssystem för svenska bibliotek" (SAB) sowie des Schlagwortsystems "Svenska ämnesord" (SAO) erläutert. Hiernach werden die Projektziele der DDC-Einführung und deren Umsetzung dargestellt. Beleuchtet wird weiterhin, wieso die DDC an Wissenschaftlichen Bibliotheken in Schweden mittlerweile große Verbreitung gefunden hat, nicht jedoch an den Öffentlichen Bibliotheken.

    Abstract
    Häufig befasst sich das Personal an der Auskunftstheke mit Fragen nach dem Standort von Büchern und Sachgruppen. Um die Mitarbeiter zu entlasten und den Benutzern eine bessere Orientierung zu ermöglichen, gibt es inzwischen die Möglichkeit, elektronische Leit- und Orientierungssysteme direkt mit dem Opac zu verknüpfen. Lena Dilger hat in ihrer Bachelorarbeit aktuelle Beispiele in wissenschaftlichen und Öffentlichen Bibliotheken untersucht und verglichen. Sie hat die Ergebnisse für BuB zusammengefasst, gibt zahlreiche Tipps für Interessenten, die ein elektronisches Leitsystem einführen möchten und stellt Komplett-Angebote ausgewählter Bibliotheksdienstleistungsfirmen vor.

    Abstract
    Ein Teil der traditionellen Arbeit wird in naher Zukunft von Maschinen, oder 'Applikationen' übernommen und es wird diskutiert, ob die Menschheit von der gewonnenen Zeit profitiert oder sich überflüssig macht. Digitale Applikationen und Roboter werden auch in Bibliotheken Aufgaben übernehmen, aber wie werden wir Roboter tatsächlich antreffen? Der Text fasst die Ergebnisse aus Studien des Forums LIKE am Max Planck Institut Luxemburg und Diskussionen mit Fachspezialisten für RFID-Technologie zusammen und stellt mögliche Geräte für Bibliotheken vor. Welche Vorteile eine Automatisierung für die Benutzung hat, zeigt zuletzt das Fallbeispiel der Dynamischen Ordnung in der Kunstbibliothek Sitterwerk in St. Gallen.

    Abstract
    Viele kleinere Öffentliche Bibliotheken gehen mittlerweile dazu über, ihren Sachbuchbestand überwiegend oder komplett nach Interessenkreisen aufzustellen. Die Abkehr von der streng systematischen Aufstellung kommt dem Suchverhalten der Nutzerinnen und Nutzer entgegen und erleichtert darüber hinaus dem Personal in Teilbereichen das Geschäft. Um einen reibungslosen Übergang zu gewährleisten, wurde die Umstellung in Leinfelden-Echterdingen mit Unterstützung von Bibliothekspraktikantinnen vollzogen

    Abstract
    Dieser Beitrag beschreibt die Entwicklung der Gesamthochschulbibliothekssystematik (GHBS) als Aufstellungssystematik der Gesamthochschulbibliotheken (GHBs) in Nordrhein-Westfalen (NRW) seit den 1970er Jahren bis heute. Dabei werden zunächst mittels Literaturauswertung und Archivmaterial entscheidende Entwicklungspunkte kursorisch bis zum Ende der gemeinsamen Pflege der Systematik im Jahre 2004 dargestellt. Die Einflüsse lokaler Interessengruppen sowie technischer Veränderungen auf die kooperative Klassifikationsentwicklung werden betrachtet. Die Untersuchung wird durch Experteninterviews erweitert. Konzeption und Auswertung der Interviews bedienen sich der qualitativen Inhaltsanalyse nach Gläser und Laudel und des Ressourcenabhängigkeitsansatzes (RDT). Aus Experteninterviews und Literaturauswertung wird sich eine heute nur noch nachrangige Bedeutung der Klassifikationsentwicklung sowie ein Mangel an Aufsichts- und Sanktionierungsmaßnahmen gegenüber den GHBs ergeben
