    Abstract
    Eine der wesentlichen Aufgaben als Fachreferent*in ist die inhaltliche Erschließung der neuerworbenen Literatur, sowie die Begutachtung und Auswahl der neu erschienenen Werke in den jeweiligen Fachgebieten hinsichtlich der Relevanz für die eigenen Sammlungen gemäß dem Sammlungsprofil der TU Wien Bibliothek. Im Zuge der Corona-Krise wurde die herkömmliche Arbeitsweise in der Sacherschließung beeinträchtigt, und es haben sich neue Herausforderungen, aber auch Möglichkeiten ergeben. Neben der fehlenden Autopsie der Literatur leidet auch die Sichtung und Erwerbung neuer Literatur unter der physischen Abwesenheit vom Arbeitsplatz bzw. der entsprechenden technischen Infrastruktur. Auch der persönliche Austausch mit den Kolleg*innen wurde deutlich erschwert. Neben den Schwierigkeiten wurden aber auch die neuen Handlungsoptionen auf beruflicher und individueller Ebene positiv gesehen. In dem Artikel werden unsere individuellen Erfahrungen an der TU Wien Bibliothek sowie Ausblicke in die Zukunft wiedergegeben.

    Abstract
    Diskussionen um Datennetze und Informationstechnik drehen sich häufig um kompetentes Handeln. In der Publikation werden Voraussetzungen eines autonomen informationellen Handelns gezeigt: Abstrahieren, Analogien bilden, Plausibilitäten beachten, Schlussfolgern und kreativ sein. Informationelle Kompetenz ist gelebte Informationelle Autonomie. Es lassen sich Konsequenzen für ein zukünftiges Menschenbild in informationstechnischen Umgebungen ziehen.

    Abstract
    Wissenschaftliche Karrieren und Publikationen benötigen Reputation und möglichst viel Beachtung. Literatur, die diese Aufmerksamkeit findet, wird - so die gängige Annahme - häufig zitiert. Ausgehend von dieser Überlegung wurden Verfahren der Zitationsmessung entwickelt, die Auskunft über die Relevanz oder (wie im- und explizit oft auch postuliert wird) gar die Qualität einer Publikation oder eines Wissenschaftlers geben sollen.

    Abstract
    Werden Maschinen mit Begriffen beschrieben, die ursprünglich der Beschreibung des Menschen dienen, so liegt zunächst der Verdacht nahe, dass jene Maschinen spezifischmenschliche Fähigkeiten oder Eigenschaften besitzen. Für körperliche Fähigkeiten, die mechanisch nachgeahmt werden, hat sich in der Alltagssprache eine anthropomorphisierende Sprechweise bereits etabliert. So wird kaum in Frage gestellt, dass bestimmte Maschinen weben, backen, sich bewegen oder arbeiten können. Bei nichtkörperlichen Eigenschaften, etwa kognitiver, sozialer oder moralischer Art sieht dies jedoch anders aus. Dass mittlerweile intelligente und rechnende Maschinen im alltäglichen Sprachgebrauch Eingang gefunden haben, wäre jedoch undenkbar ohne den langjährigen Diskurs über Künstliche Intelligenz, welcher insbesondere die zweite Hälfte des vergangenen Jahrhunderts geprägt hat. In jüngster Zeit ist es der Autonomiebegriff, welcher zunehmend Verwendung zur Beschreibung neuer Technologien findet, wie etwa "autonome mobile Roboter" oder "autonome Systeme". Dem Begriff nach rekurriert die "Autonomie" jener Technologien auf eine bestimmte Art technologischen Fortschritts, die von der Fähigkeit zur Selbstgesetzgebung herrührt. Dies wirft aus philosophischer Sicht jedoch die Frage auf, wie die Selbstgesetzgebung in diesem Fall definiert ist, zumal sich der Autonomiebegriff in der Philosophie auf die politische oder moralische Selbstgesetzgebung von Menschen oder Menschengruppen beziehungsweise ihre Handlungen bezieht. Im Handbuch Robotik hingegen führt der Autor geradezu beiläufig die Bezeichnung "autonom" ein, indem er prognostiziert, dass "[.] autonome Roboter in Zukunft sogar einen Großteil der Altenbetreuung übernehmen werden."

    Abstract
    Befindet sich die Informationswissenschaft in der Krise? Die Krise der Informationswissenschaft ist durch institutionelle Schließungen, mangelhaften Zusammenhalt und geringe Sichtbarkeit in Politik und Öffentlichkeit gekennzeichnet. Führende Informationswissenschaftler diskutieren, ob die Informationswissenschaft ein neues Paradigma braucht. Sie stellen sich der Frage, wie sie ihre Lehre an neue Herausforderungen in der Praxis, beispielsweise die neue Flut an Fehl- und Falschinformationen, anpassen und die Studierenden im Verbund beispielsweise mit wissenschaftlichen Bibliotheken noch besser an anspruchsvolle Recherchen und Quellenkritik heranführen sollten. Die Forschung der Informationswissenschaft umfasst ein heterogenes Themenspektrum und kommt zu wichtigen Ergebnissen, z.B. in den Bereichen Smart Cities und Smart Countries, Semantic Web, Information Behavior, Big Data und Forschungsinfrastruktur. Diese und andere Gebiete werden unsere Zukunft bis weit in unseren Alltag hinein bestimmen. Wie wir diese Herausforderungen bewältigen, dafür eröffnet die Informationswissenschaft neue und notwendige Perspektiven.

    Abstract
    Nach einem kurzen Rückblick auf die Vorgeschichte des Fachinformationsdienstes Buch-, Bibliotheks- und Informationswissenschaft (FID BBI) sowie einer Skizze zum Stand der Fachinformationsdienste im Allgemeinen bietet der vorliegende Bericht aus der Werkstatt des FID BBI vor allem Aussagen zu den Erwerbungskriterien des Dienstes und Informationen zu dem kürzlich freigeschalteten Portal. Die Angaben sollen dem Austausch mit der bibliothekarischen und fachlichen Community dienen und schließen daher auch offene Fragen und noch unerreichte Meilensteine ein.

    Abstract
    Der Beitrag unternimmt eine Annäherung an bestimmte grundlegende Auswirkungen digitaler Kommunikationsnetze auf die Bibliotheks- und Informationswissenschaft sowie die Informationsvermittlung. Im Mittelpunkt stehen dabei der informationelle "Eigensinn" dieser Systeme sowie die Ablösung des Dokuments als fester Bezugsgröße. Die konkrete Einschreibbarkeit des Nutzungshandelns in das System der Informationsinhalte verändert beide Faktoren der Informationsarbeit. Die Frage, was ein Informationsobjekt ist und wie dieses verstanden werden kann, erfordert daher die Einbeziehung dieses Handelns in die bibliotheks- und informationswissenschaftliche Analyse, Bewertung und Innovation. Als Beschreibungsmatrix wird eine "Vierheit" vorgeschlagen. Dem klassischen Retrieval müssen dafür dynamische Verfahren der Visualisierung sowie der Informationshermeneutik zur Seite gestellt werden.

    Abstract
    Dirk Lewandowski (HAW Hamburg) hatte mit dem Titel seines Referates auf der Veranstaltung zur "Zukunft der Informationswissenschaft - Hat die Informationswissenschaft eine Zukunft?" an der UB der TU Berlin Brisanz angekündigt. Sein Titel lautete: "Warum die Frage nach der Zukunft der Informationswissenschaft falsch gestellt ist". Dabei war die Veranstaltung auf der Basis des Buches "Zukunft der Informationswissenschaft - Hat die Informationswissenschaft eine Zukunft?" entwickelt worden. Wie sich zeigte, war Lewandowski der erste, der sich öffentlich mit den in dem Buch erhobenen Kritiken zum Stand der Informationswissenschaft umfassend auseinandergesetzt hatte und damit die dort geführte informationswissenschaftliche Debatte fortführte. Damit kam er den impliziten Wünschen der Autoren entgegen, die sich in dem Buch kritisch zum Stand der Informationswissenschaft geäußert hatten. Der Referent erklärte, er habe sich nach der Lektüre des Buches gefragt (oder nach den ersten 150 Seiten des Buches, auf denen Grundfragen der Informationswissenschaft erörtert werden - anschließend geht es mehr um eine Leistungsschau der Disziplin in Forschung und Lehre): "Von welcher Informationswissenschaft ist hier eigentlich die Rede?" und sich darauf die Antwort gegeben: "Das ist nicht die Informationswissenschaft, wie ich sie kenne." Die Grundhaltung der Autoren im Buch seien Zweifel an der Zukunft der Informationswissenschaft wenn nicht an der Zukunftsfähigkeit des Faches gewesen. Lewandowski widersprach diesen Kritikern mit den Worten, dass er keine Zweifel an der Zukunft der Informationswissenschaft habe. Wohl habe die Informationswissenschaft ein strukturelles, jedoch kein inhaltliches Problem. So habe Frauke Schade überzeugend nachgewiesen, dass sich die Informationswissenschaft mit allen Fragen der Digitalisierung, die die Politik in ihren Positionspapieren vom Wissenschaftsrat bis zum Rat für Informationsinfrastrukturen stelle, befasse. Hier Lösungen zu erarbeiten, "das können wir nach meiner Überzeugung gut".

    Abstract
    Bevor ich einige Gedanken über die Zukunft der Informationswissenschaft in den deutschsprachigen Ländern anstelle, möchte ich zunächst versuchen, ihren Gegenstandsbereich zu umreißen. Bei einem schwer greifbaren Begriff wie "Information" ist es nicht überraschend, wenn es keine allgemeine Übereinstimmung über die zentralen Themen der Informationswissenschaft gibt.
    "Eine zentrale Frage ist nun, wie der Stellenwert der Informationswissenschaft trotz dieser schwierigen Rahmenbedingungen verbessert werden könnte. Aus Sicht des Autors könnten gerade die in jüngster Zeit auftretenden "Unsicherheiten" bei der Benutzung von Sozialen Medien für die Informationswissenschaft eine große Chance bieten, neu durchzustarten. Wie vor einem halben Jahrhundert der Sputnik-Schock könnte nun der "Trump-Schock" der Informationswissenschaft neuen Auftrieb verleihen. Die entscheidende Frage ist aber, ob die Informationswissenschaft mittlerweile noch "stark" genug ist, diese Trendwende herbeizuführen."

    Abstract
    Das 13. Internationale Symposium für Informationswissenschaft (ISI 2013) führt die alle zwei Jahre stattfindende Tagung des Hochschulverbandes für Informationswissenschaft (HI) fort. Sie stellt stets ein Schaufenster auf die aktuelle Diskussion der Informationswissenschaft als Fachdisziplin zwischen Informatik, Interface Design, Computerlinguistik und benachbarten Sozialwissenschaften dar. Die eingereichten Beiträge stammen vorwiegend von (fast) allen Lehrstühlen und Instituten der Informationswissenschaft in den deutschsprachigen Ländern. In Kooperation mit dem amerikanischen Schwesterverband, der "Association of Information Science and Technology" (ASIS&T), gelang es wieder, neben den herausragenden Keynotes auch weitere internationale Beiträge zu integrieren und auf diese Weise die europäisch-deutschsprachige Informationswissenschaft mit dem internationalen Diskurs zu verbinden. Das Motto der Tagung verweist auf die aktuellen Veränderungen in der Fachdisziplin und in den vorherrschenden Anwendungsfeldern. Wie in vielen Wissenschaften vollzieht sich auch in der Informationswissenschaft ein vielfältiger Paradigmenwechsel, der auf den Wandel zur "digitalen Gesellschaft" reagiert. Neben klassischen Themengebieten wie Information Retrieval, Metadaten, Usability, Portalen, neuen Medientechnologien oder Bibliometrie rücken deshalb Fragen des Informationsverhaltens und der tatsächlichen "Informationspraxis" immer mehr in den Fokus.
