- Abstract
- Es werden die Grundprobleme der Sacherschließung in Online-Katalogen dargestellt. Ein anschließendes Kapitel behandelt das Verhältnis von verbaler und klassifikatorischer Erschließung. Ein wichtiger Teil der Aussagen betrifft das Gebiet der verbalen Sacherschließung und damit das nationale Regelwerk: Es werden Vorschläge für eine Reform der RSWK im Hinblick auf die Erfordernisse der OPAC unterbreitet. Regelwerk und Normdatei (SWD) bilden dabei eine Einheit und werden zusammen betrachtet. Im vergangenen Jahr wurden die Ergebnisse der Expertengruppe mit dem Schwerpunkt Formalerschließung vorgelegt, nun folgen die Aussagen zur Sacherschließung, welche die Expertengruppe - in veränderter personeller Zusammensetzung unter Leitung von Dr. Friedrich Geißelmann, Regensburg - erarbeitet hat. Die bibliothekarische Öffentlichkeit ist aufgefordert, sich dazu bis zum Jahresende zu äußern. Beide Berichte beziehen sich aufeinander und versuchen, den Zusammenhang zwischen Formal- und Sacherschließung herzustellen. Vom gegenwärtigen Stand der Sacherschließung in deutschen Bibliotheken ausgehend - wozu auch durch die Gruppe im Frühjahr 1993 eine Umfrage in wissenschaftlichen und Öffentlichen Bibliotheken gemacht worden ist, werden die Grundprobleme der Sacherschließung in Online-Katalogen dargestellt. Ein anschließendes Kapitel behandelt das Verhältnis von verbaler und klassifikatorischer Erschließung. Ein wichtiger Teil der Aussagen betrifft das Gebiet der verbalen Sacherschließung und damit das nationale Regelwerk: Es werden Vorschläge für ein Reform der RSWK im Hinblick auf die Erfordernisse des OPAC unterbreitet. - Abstract
- Im Hinblick auf den erreichten Umfang der SWD und ihre Funktion in elektronischen Katalogen werden Überlegungen zur strukturellen Anpassung der SWD diskutiert. Diese Überlegungen sollen nicht als Aufforderung zur grundsätzlichen Überarbeitung der SWD verstanden werden, sie sollen jedoch dazu beitragen, daß die SWD als Hilfsmittel bei der Literaturrecherche sinnvoll eingesetzt werden kann. Dabei sind folgende Bereiche angesprochen: (1) Allgemeine Probleme in einem universellen Vokabular; (2) Disambiguierung; (3) Verhältnis Zugangssprache - Indexierungssprache; (4) Berücksichtigung fremdsprachiger Äquivalente und Problemen der Weiterentwicklung der SWD zu einer multilingualen Normdatei; (5) Relationierung; (6) Strukturierung nach art der Schlagwortkategorien; (7) Systematisierung; (8) Codierung

- Abstract
- Es scheint naheliegend, daß der Unsicherheit, welche durch die "Vielfalt der möglichen sprachlichen Ausdrucksweisen für einen Sachverhalt" beim Beschlagworter ausgelöst wird, dadurch begegnet werden soll, "daß immer nur eine der möglichen Formen gewählt wird". Der Ruf nach einer "Standardisie- rung der Schlagwörter" geht damit Hand in Hand. Zwei Ergebnisse dieser Standardisierungsbemühungen werden im folgenden dargestellt; ein Punkt aber sollte dabei nicht übersehen werden: "Ein allgemein akzeptiertes Verfahren der Inhaltsanalyse gibt es bisher nicht und es ist offen, ob das Problem überhaupt gelöst werden kann." - Abstract
- In der vorliegenden Form können die RSWK nicht befriedigen. Die geforderte hochdifferenzierte Erschließung ist in einem OPAC wegen der vielfältigen Abfragemöglichkeiten gar nicht nötig, ja eine einheitliche Indexierung und effiziente Suche is aufgrund der komplexen Regeln sogar erschwert. Aufgaben und Probleme der verbalen Sacherschließung in OPACs werden in dieser Arbeit aufgezeigt und Ansätze zu einer Alternative diskutiert. Der traditionelle Indexkatalog hat als Ergänzung des modernen Information Retrieval nur eine Zukunft, wenn die Möglichkeiten der EDV und der Faktor Mensch bei der Regelwerkentwicklung besser berücksichtigt werden

- Diese Mitteilungen enthalten die von der Expertengruppe RSWK beschlossene endgültige Fassung der in den RSWK-Mitteilungen Nr.4-6 vorgeschlagenen Regelwerksänderungen und -ergänzungen [BD 26(1992) S.1205-1220, 1729-1741; BD 27(1993) H.6, Beilage]. Die Änderungen und Ergänzungen betreffen die Beschlagwortung von Belletristik, Kinder- und Jugendliteratur, Schulbüchern sowie von Literatur zum österreichischen und Schweizer Recht. Eine Praxisregel zur Behandlung des österreichsichen und Schweizer Rechts wird in der 2. Ergänzungslieferung zu den Praxisregeln publiziert. Zur Diskussion gestellt wurde die Frage des Pleonasmus von Deutschland im Recht. Nach dem Beschluß der juristischen Fachreferenten bleibt es bei der bisherigen Regelung: Deutschland entfällt als pleonastisch (Ausnahme ist für bestimmte Bibliotheken möglich; die DNB verfährt wie bisher)

- Abstract
- Mit der 3. Aufl. der RSWK wird eine Neubearbeitung vorgelegt, die eine durchgehende Revision des Regelwerkes vor allem unter Berücksichtigung des Online-Katalogs zum Ziel hatte. Eine wesentliche Bedingung dabei war allerdings, die breite Akzeptanz des Regelwerks zu erhalten und die gegenwärtigen Dienstleistungen der anwendenden Bibliotheken weiterführen zu können. Im Regelwerk sind die Standards festgeschrieben, die von Der Deutschen Bibliothek und den mitarbeitenden Bibliotheksverbünden eingehalten werden. Damit wird die zentrale Rolle der kooperativ geführten Schlagwortnormdatei (SWD) im Regelwerk verankert. Für die 3. Aufl. hatte sich die mit dieser Arbeit betraute Expertengruppe des DBI folgende grundsätzliche aufgaben gestellt: Einbeziehung der Voraussetzungen für den Einsatz der Datenverarbeitung in das Regelwerk (Abstimmung von Regelwerk und Datenformat, Beschreibung auch der wesentlichen Bestimmungen für das Datenformat); Verbesserung der Struktur der SWD und Nutzbarmachung der intern verwendeten Datei für den Benutzer; Ausweitung der Sacherschließung bei in Bibliothekskatalogen nachgewiesenen Materialarten); redaktionelle Überarbeitung des gesamten Regelwerkes, vor allem auch der Struktur der Grundregeln, die jetzt alle grundlegende Bestimmungen - auch aus Beispielsammlung und Praxisregeln - enthalten. Der Einleitung in das Regelwerk ist eine nach Paragraphen geordnete Übersicht der wichtigsten Veränderungen nachgestellt. Das Sachregister wurde überarbeitet; neu ist ein Beispielregister, das alle im Text des Regelwerks enthaltenen Beispiele erschließt
