- Abstract
- Eine große Anzahl deutscher wissenschaftlicher Bibliotheken erprobt den Einsatz neuer Techniken mit Pilot- und Anwendungsprojekten verschiedenster Art. Sie werden in nicht unerheblichem Maße gefördert, so z.B. im Rahmen des Förderungsprogramms 'Modernisierung und Rationalisierung in wissenschaftlichen Bibliotheken' der DFG. Von 155 angeschriebenen Institutionen wurden 109 Projekte gemeldet. Daraus resultieren 50 Projektbeschreibungen im Hauptteil dieser Veröffentlichung. - Die hier aufgeführten Regeln beziehen sich ausschließlich auf hier aufgeführte Relationsarten und die Beziehungen unter ihnen. Die Ergebnisse sind in Zusammenarbeit mit der Thesaurusredaktion des Projekts ATLAS entstanden (ATLAS 1990). Gedanken von Rostek & Fischer (1988), Schäuble (1989), Vanek (1980), Sick (1989) und Konrad (1990) sowie die Empfehlungen der DIN 1463 (1987) wurden mit berücksichtigt. Diese Regeln werden außerdem für die Entwicklung des Textinterpretationssystem ATLAS/ti (Muhr 1990) und ATLAS/PfleSaurus (Willenborg 1991) weiterverwendet. Punkt 1. enthält Definitionen: Thesaurus, Thesaurusrelationen und deren formal logische Eigenschaften. Punkt 2. enthält Konsistenzregeln. Punkt 3. enthält Inferenzregeln. Punkt 4. enthält zwei Beispielthesauri. Ein System zur Erstellung und Pflege von Thesauri solllte die unter Punkt 1.-3. beschriebenen Definitionen und Regeln berücksichtigen.

- Abstract
- Durch die Möglichkeiten der Einbindung von Bibliotheken in internationale Kommunikationsnetzwerke wie dem Internet zeichnen sich völlig neue Potentiale für die Vermittlung und Distribution von Wissen ab. Die globale Vernetzung verbindet die elektronischen Bestände aller angeschlossenen Bibliotheken, Datenbankanbieter oder sonstiger Informationsprodutzenten zu einer einzigen 'virtuellen Bibliothek' - der alte Traum von einer umfassenden Enzyklopädie des Weltwissens scheint damit in greifbare Nähe zu rücken. Neue Formen von Informationsprodukten entstehen und damit gleichzeitig der Bedarf nach veränderten Methoden und Regeln der Wissenserschließung, -aufbereitung und -verteilung. Die direkte Zugänglichmachung von Dokumenten in elektronischer Form verändert auf gravierende Weise die Gepflogenheiten unserer traditionellen 'Informationskultur'. Mit der Dematerialisierung des Wissens, d.h. mit der Unabhängigkeit des Rohstoffs 'Wissen' von festgelegten Formaten und Trägermedien stellt vielleicht auch das 'Gebäude' Bibliothek in seiner bisherigen physischen Präsenz bald einen Anachronismus dar.

- Abstract
- Am Beispiel der Knochenmarktransplantation, eines medizinischen Spezialgebietes, wird im folgenden dargelegt, wie man BenutzerInnen eine großen Teil des Aufwandes bei der Wissensbeschaffung abnehmen kann, indem man Suchergebnisse aus dem Netz fragebezogen zusammenfaßt. Dadurch wird in zeitkritischen Situationen, wie sie in Diagnose und Therapie alltäglich sind, die Aufnahme neuen Wissens ermöglicht. Auf einen Überblick über den Stand des Textzusammenfassens und der Ontologieentwicklung folgt eine Systemskizze, in der die Informationssuche im WWW durch ein kognitiv fundiertes Zusammenfassungssystem ergänzt wird. Dazu wird eine Fach-Ontologie vorgeschlagen, die das benötigte Wissen organisiert und repräsentiert.

- Abstract
- Im Rahmen von MILOS II wurde das erste MILOS-Projekt zur automatischen Indexierung von Titeldaten um eine semantischer Komponente erweitert, indem Thesaurusrelationen der Schlagwortnormdatei eingebunden wurden. Der abschließend zur Evaluierung durchgeführte Retrievaltest und seine Ergebnisse stehen im Mittelpunkt dieses Texts. Zusätzlich wird ein Überblick über bereits durchgeführte Retrievaltests (vorwiegend des anglo-amerikanischen Raums) gegeben und es wird erläutert, welche grundlegenden Fragestellungen bei der praktischen Durchführung eines Retrievaltests zu beachten sind

- Abstract
- Das GOS Thesaurus-Handbuch wurde für die Teilnehmer an dem von der ROBERTBOSCH-STIFTUNG geförderten Projekt "Sammlungsmanagement für kulturgeschichtliche Museen in den neuen Bundesländern" (Spitzname: "Knorr-Projekt") geschrieben. Es basiert auf den bereits Mitte der 80er Jahre vom Institut für Museumskunde in Zusammenarbeit mit dem heutigen Konrad-Zuse-Zentrum für Informationstechnik Berlin (ZIB) durchgeführten und 1988 publizierten Arbeiten im Projekt "Kleine Museen".' Schon damals war zu erkennen, daß die international gültige Thesaurusnorm auch in den Museen auf dem Siegeszug war. Heute ist sie die Grundlage aller wichtigen Projekte zur internationalen Zusammenarbeit bei der Museumsdokumentation. GOS-Benutzer, die sich noch nie mit solchen Dingen befaßt haben, können dieses Handbuch als eine allgemeine Einführung in die Thesaurusarbeit benutzen, denn es behandelt alle Grundfunktionen eines Thesaurus nach DIN 1463. Es besteht aus einem "Lesebuch", in dem es mehr um die Zusammenhänge und etwas Hintergrundwissen geht sowie einem "Datenkatalog" mit der Beschreibung der Datenfelder des Thesaurus, gedruckt aus einer kleinen GOS-Datenbank, aus der auch die "H i l f e t e x t e " im GOS-Menü geholt werden. Wir haben uns - mit einiger Mühe allerdings - jeden Hinweis auf "gerade in Entwicklung befindliche" und "in wenigen Monaten freizugebende" Leistungen von GOS verkniffen und uns auschließlich auf Dinge beschränkt, die in den am Projekt direkt beteiligten Museen vor März 1997 routinemäßig angewendet wurden.
