    Abstract
    Dieser Band gibt einen Überblick über 500 Jahre deutsche Buchhandelsgeschichte, über das Schreiben, Herstellen, Verkaufen und Lesen von Büchern. Angesprochen werden nicht nur Fachleute, sondern alle, die Interesse an Büchern und Literatur haben. Buchhandelsgeschichte bedeutet für Wittmann nicht nur eine Geschichte der (Sortiments-)Buchhandlungen. Buchhandel meint hier die Gesamtprozesse der Vermittlung von geistigem Kulturgut eines Autors über die materielle Speicherung dieses geistigen Produkts in Form von Büchern, die Finanzierung und Verbreitung durch Verlage und Sortimentsbuchhandlungen bis hin zum Leser. Wittmann teilt das von ihm behandelte halbe Jahrtausend seit Erfindung des Buchdrucks in zwölf Epochen auf und geht in jedem seiner Kapitel eben nicht nur auf Fragen der Herstellung und Verbreitung von Büchern ein (also die eigentliche Druck-, Verlags- und Buchhandelsgeschichte), sondern stellt auch jeweils fundierte Reflexionen über das Bild und die Rolle von Autoren sowie die Erwartungshaltungen, Vorlieben und Kenntnisse der Leser an. Dieser weite Blickwinkel bedingt natürlich, dass das dargebotenen Material für die jeweiligen Epochen nicht sehr ausführlich sein kann. Wittmann beschränkt sich häufig auf prägnante Beispiele für die jeweiligen Forschungsperspektiven. Seine Vorgehensweise bietet jedoch andererseits einen großen Vorteil: Dieses Buch ist eine interessante Lektüre nicht nur für Leute, die sich direkt für Buchhandelsgeschichte interessieren, sondern auch für solche, die einen Blick auf den Wandel des Autoren- und Leserbildes in der deutschen Gesellschaft der letzten 500 Jahre werfen wollen.

    Abstract
    Vom soziolinguistischen Ansatz her, führt dieses Buch in die Theorie und Praxis der Fachsprachen ein und stellt den modernen Forschungsstand dar. Funktionen, linguistische Merkmale und gesellschaftliche Relevanz spezialsprachlicher Kommunikationsformen werden an vielen Beispielen erläutert. Zentrale Aspekte der Fachsprachenforschung der 90er Jahre verbunden mit Perspektiven für die Zeit nach dem Jahr 2000 werden in einem zusätzlichen Kapitel behandelt.     Abstract
    Eine der wesentlichen Aufgaben als Fachreferent*in ist die inhaltliche Erschließung der neuerworbenen Literatur, sowie die Begutachtung und Auswahl der neu erschienenen Werke in den jeweiligen Fachgebieten hinsichtlich der Relevanz für die eigenen Sammlungen gemäß dem Sammlungsprofil der TU Wien Bibliothek. Im Zuge der Corona-Krise wurde die herkömmliche Arbeitsweise in der Sacherschließung beeinträchtigt, und es haben sich neue Herausforderungen, aber auch Möglichkeiten ergeben. Neben der fehlenden Autopsie der Literatur leidet auch die Sichtung und Erwerbung neuer Literatur unter der physischen Abwesenheit vom Arbeitsplatz bzw. der entsprechenden technischen Infrastruktur. Auch der persönliche Austausch mit den Kolleg*innen wurde deutlich erschwert. Neben den Schwierigkeiten wurden aber auch die neuen Handlungsoptionen auf beruflicher und individueller Ebene positiv gesehen. In dem Artikel werden unsere individuellen Erfahrungen an der TU Wien Bibliothek sowie Ausblicke in die Zukunft wiedergegeben.

    Abstract
    Dieses Jahrbuch des Instituts für Deutsche Sprache ist dem Jahr der Geisteswissenschaften gewidmet und beleuchtet aus interdisziplinärer Perspektive das Zusammenwirken von cultural und linguistic turn. Die Beiträge aus Linguistik, Kultur- und Kognitionswissenschaft sowie Literatur- und Geschichtswissenschaft zielen darauf ab, die kulturwissenschaftlichen Traditionen der Sprachwissenschaft zu vergegenwärtigen und gleichzeitig den Anschluss der Linguistik an die modernen Forschungsrichtungen der Kulturwissenschaft zu dokumentieren: Hermeneutik, Rhetorik und Lexikographie, Kognitionstheorie und Diskursanalyse werden aus sprachwissenschaftlicher Perspektive diskutiert. Darüber hinaus beleuchten die Beiträge die Folgen des linguistic turn in den Nachbarwissenschaften exemplarisch anhand der Literaturwissenschaft und der Historiographie. Insgesamt präsentiert der Band das Spektrum von Grundlagen, Theorien und Methoden sowie anwendungsbezogene Beispiele einer kulturwissenschaftlichen Linguistik.

    Abstract
    Dieses Lehr- und Studienwerk gibt eine sehr gute Einführung in alle Aspekte der heutigen (synchronen) Sprachwissenschaft. Präsentiert die wichtigsten Ansätze der linguistischen Forschung (sowohl Sprachebenen als auch Bindestrich-Linguistiken), berücksichtigt dabei gleichermassen klassische Theorien wie neuere Ansätze. Dieses Buch versucht erfolgreich zu halten, was es im Titel verspricht: ein Studienbuch zu sein, will sagen: als Buch das ganze Studium an meinem Schreibtisch zu kauern und nicht vergeblich darauf zu warten, daß ich es benutze. Den drei Autoren ist eine durchaus lesbare Einführung in alle klassischen (und auch "modernen klassischen") Bereiche der Linguistik gelungen, die nur den einen Nachteil hat, daß sie als Einführung schon wieder ein wenig zu ausführlich ist. Für Studierende der Linguistik ist das natürlich äußerst empfehlenswert: hier können sie sich gründlich einlesen, und anhand der zahlreichen Literaturangaben weiterlesen. Wer allerdings Sprachwissenschaft eher nebenher betreibt, ist zur Einführung mit diesem Buch vielleicht etwas überfordert. Hat man sich allerdings durch den Text gekämpft und vielleicht für seine(n) Einführungskurs(e) das Notwendige (und klausurrelevante) von der Spreu getrennt, dann kann dieses Buch ein einigermaßen verläßlicher Begleiter durch die nächsten Jahre Linguistik werden. So manchen wissenschaftlichen Primärtext kann es zwar sicherlich nicht ersetzen, aber das will es ja auch nicht. Ärgerlicher ist dagegen schon, daß manche Themen (etwa "Sprache und Politik", "Lexikologie") nur ganz am Rande oder gar nicht vorkommen. Aber dafür gibt es natürlich auch wieder gelehrte Werke, die man aufsuchen und -schlagen kann. Wer gerne gründlich lernt und auch eine gewisse Textmenge nicht scheut, ist mit diesem Buch auf jeden Fall bestens beraten.

    Abstract
    Als Erfinder des «Allgemeinen» gilt, gemäß dem Bericht des Aristoteles und seit diesem Bericht, Sokrates. Er ist es, der nicht mehr danach suchte, woraus ein Ding zu dem geworden ist, was es ist, oder wie es entstanden ist, sondern danach, «was [ein Ding] ist», und somit ist Sokrates der erste gewesen, der die Herausarbeitung des Allgemeinen (?a?????) forderte und mit seinen Fragen seine Gesprächspartner zu dieser Herausarbeitung trieb bzw. lockte; die Definition (???sµ??) war das Ziel des sokratischen Gesprächs, und die sokratische Aporie war das Vehikel.

    Abstract
    Diskussionen um Datennetze und Informationstechnik drehen sich häufig um kompetentes Handeln. In der Publikation werden Voraussetzungen eines autonomen informationellen Handelns gezeigt: Abstrahieren, Analogien bilden, Plausibilitäten beachten, Schlussfolgern und kreativ sein. Informationelle Kompetenz ist gelebte Informationelle Autonomie. Es lassen sich Konsequenzen für ein zukünftiges Menschenbild in informationstechnischen Umgebungen ziehen.

    Abstract
    Diese onomasiologische Arbeit untersucht sprachvergleichend lexikalische Benennungen mentaler Tätigkeiten (wie z.B. denken), Vorgänge (verstehen) und Zustände (wissen). Dabei stehen Gemeinsamkeiten und Unterschiede der sprachlichen Erschließung dieser Bereiche im Blickpunkt. Bereits im deutschen Wortschatz zeigen sich verschiedene Motivationsverhältnisse: von relativ durchsichtigen Ausdrücken (begreifen, erwägen) über als komplex analysierbare, aber nicht eigentlich durchschaubare Ausdrücke (überlegen, verstehen) bis zu undurchsichtigen Simplizia (denken, wissen). Die Leitfrage lautet: Welche Bilder wiederholen sich durch verschiedene Sprachen und Kulturen? Gibt es bestimmte Bahnen, in denen sich die bezeichnungsmäßige Erschließung bewegt? Es zeigt sich, daß es sich um einen sehr heterogenen Bereich mit zahlreichen Bezeichnungsmustern handelt, von denen sich aber drei Muster - Bezeichnungen aus den Quellbereichen GREIFEN/NEHMEN, SEHEN und HÖREN - als stark verbreitet in verschiedenen Unterbereichen und in unterschiedlichen Sprachen herauskristallisieren.

    Abstract
    Das Historische Wörterbuch der Philosophie (HWPh), im Zeitraum von 1971 bis 2007 unter Mitwirkung von mehr als 1500 Fachgelehrten entstanden, ist eines der umfassendsten, bedeutendsten und auch erfolgreichsten Publikationsprojekte der jüngeren deutschsprachigen Geisteswissenschaften. Im Gegensatz zu anderen Lexika oder Enzyklopädien basiert das HWPh nicht auf einer Geschichte philosophischer Ideen oder Probleme, sondern auf der Geschichte der philosophischen Begriffe. In 12 Textbänden sowie einem abschliessenden Registerband dokumentiert das Lexikon in 17144 Spalten und rund 6000 Artikeln anhand zahlreicher präziser Belege und Stellenangaben Herkunft und Genese von insgesamt 3670 philosophischen Begriffen und beschreibt den Wandel ihrer Bedeutung und Funktion von ihrem ersten Auftreten bis heute. Das Konzept der begriffsgeschichtlichen Methode macht sowohl synchronisch Stellung und Bedeutung einzelner Begriffe in bestimmten Epochen oder bei bestimmten Philosophinnen und Philosophen als auch diachronisch deren Bedeutungsveränderungen innerhalb der abendländischen Philosophiegeschichte nachvollziehbar. Um die spezifisch philosophische Begriffsarbeit im Kontext des gesamten Wissenschaftssystems zu veranschaulichen, werden zudem auch Begriffe aus angrenzenden Fachgebieten - Theologie, Psychologie, Pädagogik, Soziologie, Geschichte und Kunstgeschichte, Politik, Jurisprudenz, Medizin sowie aus den Naturwissenschaften - behandelt.

    Dieses umfassende etymologische Wörterbuch der deutschen Sprache gibt präzise Auskunft über Herkunft und Bedeutung von rund 13.000 Wörtern. Neben dem deutschen Standardwortschatz werden zahlreiche Ausdrücke aus Fachsprachen und regionalen Wortschätzen erklärt. Der Aufbau der Artiel ist übersichtlich: Auf einen Blick erkennt man, seit wann das betreffende Wort in Gebrauch ist. Jedes selbständige Wort ist in einem eigenen Artikel erfaßt und dadurch rasch zu finden. Klar strukturierte Verweise führen zu verwandten Wörtern. Am Ende der Wörterbuchartikel finden sich Literaturhinweise.
