    Abstract
    Die Verwendung von Erschließungsinstrumenten zur Beschreibung von Informationsressourcen kann Effizienz und Effektivität thematischer Recherchen wesentlich steigern: standardisierte Begriffe unterstützen Recall und Precision begrifflicher Suchen; Ausweisung von Relationen bietet die Grundlage für explorative Suchprozesse. Eine zusätzliche Steigerung der Funktionalitäten des Retrievals kann mittels einer Ausdifferenzierung und Spezifizierung der in Normdaten enthaltenen semantischen Informationen erreicht werden, die über die in Thesauri und Klassifikationen verbreiteten grundlegenden Relationstypen (äquivalent, hierarchisch, assoziativ) hinausgehen. In modernen Informationsräumen, in denen Daten verschiedener Institutionen über eine Plattform zeit- und ortsunabhängig zugänglich gemacht werden, können einzelne Wissenssysteme indes nur unzureichend das Information Retrieval unterstützen. Zu unterschiedlich sind die für thematische Suchanfragen relevanten Indexierungsdaten. Eine Verbesserung kann mittels Herstellung von Interoperabilität zwischen den verschiedenen Dokumentationssprachen erreicht werden. Im Vortrag wird dargelegt, in welcher Art und Weise die in Wissenssystemen enthaltenen semantischen Informationen zur Unterstützung thematischer Recherchen optimiert werden können und inwiefern Interoperabilität zwischen Systemen geschaffen werden kann, die gleichwertige Funktionalitäten in heterogenen Informationsräumen gewährleisten. In diesem Zusammenhang wird auch auf aktuelle Mappingprojekte wie das DFG-Projekt CrissCross oder das RESEDA-Projekt, welches sich mit den Möglichkeiten der semantischen Anreicherung bestehender Dokumentationssprachen befasst, eingegangen.

    Abstract
    Diskussionen um Datennetze und Informationstechnik drehen sich häufig um kompetentes Handeln. In der Publikation werden Voraussetzungen eines autonomen informationellen Handelns gezeigt: Abstrahieren, Analogien bilden, Plausibilitäten beachten, Schlussfolgern und kreativ sein. Informationelle Kompetenz ist gelebte Informationelle Autonomie. Es lassen sich Konsequenzen für ein zukünftiges Menschenbild in informationstechnischen Umgebungen ziehen.

    Abstract
    Wir leben in einer Wissensgesellschaft. Das Wissen der Mitarbeiterinnen und Mitarbeiter wird zunehmend als wichtiges Kapital der Unternehmen wahrgenommen und vielfach als vierter Produktionsfaktor bezeichnet. Immer mehr setzt sich die Erkenntnis durch, dass Wissensverlust, beispielsweise durch den Arbeitsplatzwechsel von Mitarbeiterinnen und Mitarbeitern, den Geschäftserfolg gefährden kann Doch wie sind diese Wissensbestände überhaupt zu messen, wie ist möglich dieses Wissen zu speichern und jederzeit abrufbar zu machen? Grundlage der Unternehmensintelligenz ist das Wissensmanagement. Was kann und soll Wissensmanagement leisten? Welche Wissenskultur fördert die Bereitschaft Wissen weiterzugeben? Welche Besonderheiten sind beim Wissensmanagement in Hochschulen im Vergleich zu Unternehmen zu beachten.

    Abstract
    Der Umfang und die Heterogenität des Informationsangebotes erfordert immer differenzierte Methoden und Hilfsmittel für das gezielte und möglichst ballastfreie Auffinden von Informationsquellen im Kontext eines bestimmten Fachgebietes oder einer wissenschaftlichen Disziplin. Um dieses Ziel zu erreichen, wurden in der letzten Zeit eine Reihe sog. Subject Gateways entwickelt. Bislang liegen weder viele Untersuchungen zur Qualität derartiger Hilfsmittel vor noch ist eine differenzierte Methodik für solche Bewertungen entwickelt worden. Das Projekt Evaluation von Subject Gateways des Internet (EJECT) verfolgte daher die Ziele: durch Analyse bereits realisierter Subject Gateways die Verwendungsvielfalt des Begriffes aufzuzeigen und zu einer Präzisierung der Begriffsbildung beizutragen; einen methodischen Weg zur qualitativen Bewertung von Subject Gateways aufzuzeigen; diesen Weg anhand einer Evaluation des Subject Gateways EULER zu testen, das im Rahmen eines EU-Projektes für das Fachgebiet Mathematik entwickelt wurde. Die Resultate der Evaluation werden hier in verkürzter Form vorgestellt und es wird aufgezeigt, inwieweit eine Übertragung auf die Bewertung anderer Gateways möglich ist

    Abstract
    Internet, Neue Medien, CD-ROM - und Bibliotheken. Bibliothekare, vor allem auch ihre Standesvertreter, werben für die Institution Bibliothek gerne mit dem Hinweis, daß gerade dort das notwendige Know-how zur Nutzbarmachung der schönen neuen Online-Welt vorhanden sei. Dabei wird allzuhäufig auf die Tradition und Erfahrung der Profession bei der Erschließung und Strukturierung von Wissensressourcen verwiesen, ohne daß diese Argumentation in irgendeiner Weise kritisch hinterfragt würde. Gerade die bibliothekarischen Erschließungsinstrumente haben sich bisweilen unter OPAC-Bedingungen als wenig tauglich erwiesen (etwa die RSWK), was in vielen Fällen auch die fehlende Akzeptanz auf Benutzerseite erklärt. Hinzu kommt, daß die Internetgemeinde mit den Suchmaschinen und -verzeichnissen der kommerziellen Anbieter anscheinend ganz gut allein zurechtkommt. - Was also fehlt noch, und was könnte dabei der spezifisch bibliothekarische Beitrag sein?

    Abstract
    Die Informations- oder Wissensgesellschaft ist in aller Munde, das Verständnis derselben ist gleichwohl unklar. Unscharf ist auch das Verständnis der zugrunde liegenden Begriffe Information und Wissen sowie des Erwerbs von Information aus den verschiedenen medialen Repräsentationsformen. Allenfalls lässt sich eine gewisse Einseitigkeit bemerken, die durch den informationstechnischen Primat und an der Nachrichtentechnik orientierten Übertragungsformen geprägt ist. Ausgangspunkt der Erörterung ist die Beobachtung, dass Menschen Informationsbedürfnisse besitzen, die sie durch Inanspruchnahme verschiedenster externer Quellen und Hilfsmittel befriedigen wollen. Die neuartigen Speicher- und Findeformen führen zu übersteigerten Erwartungen, wenn man an all die Formulierungen mit virtuell, cyber, Hyper, Multimedia, Information Superhighway etc. denkt. Häufig wird dabei suggeriert, die veränderte mediale Präsentation habe neuartige und bessere Qualitäten für die Rezeption von Information, ohne dass die dabei beteiligten Prozesse völlig verstanden sind.     Abstract
    Dieser aus zwei Teilen bestehende Beitrag setzt Methoden der semantischen Wissensrepräsentation in Verbindung zur Gestaltung von Retrievalszenarios für begriffliche Recherchen und insbesondere für die Wissensexploration. Ausgehend von heterogenen Erschließungssituationen werden Konzepte vorgestellt, wie durch Maßnahmen zur Herstellung von Interoperabilität ein Beitrag zur Lösung der Heterogenitätssituation geleistet werden soll. Basierend auf einem, im zweiten Teil vorgestellten, formalen Modell zum besseren Verständnis von semantischer Interoperabilität, wird ein Vorschlag für ein Gesamtsystem entwickelt, das aus einer Kernontologie und lokalisierten semantischen Netzen mit erweitertem Relationenumfang besteht. Die Möglichkeiten zur Recherche und Exploration in einem solchen Gesamtrahmen werden skizziert.

    Abstract
    Es wird ein Überblick gegeben, wie sich die Veränderungen sich im Bereich der Informationsverarbeitung und -technik auf die Gestaltung von Studienkonzepten im Bereich Wissensorganisation und Information Retrieval in deutschen bibliothekarischen Ausbildungseinrichtungen ausgewirkt haben. Dabei wird unterschieden in Bereiche der Veränderungen und in Bereiche der Stabilität. Die Bereiche der Veränderungen lassen sich den Verfahren und Anwendungen in der Praxis zuordnen. Sie sind zum einen geprägt durch eine integrative Sicht auf Indexierung und Information Retrieval und lassen sich zum anderen durch folgende Trends charakterisieren: - Von Katalogen zu OPACs und WebOPACs - Von der Katalogisierung zum intelligenten Information Retrieval und Suchmaschinen mit benutzerfreundlichen Interaktionsschnittstellen - Vom lokalen Katalog zum kooperativen Erschließen und Retrieval in heterogenen Netzen - Von intellektueller zu automatischer Indexierung - Von Regelwerken zu strukturierten Beschreibungsebenen (z.B. Metadaten) - Von Beschreibung und Bewertung zu Entwicklungen und Produktdesign Die Bereiche der Stabilität lassen sich der Theorie und den Methoden zuordnen und sind durch folgende Themen beschreibbar: - Grundlagen der Wissensorganisation und Informationserschließung (z.B. in Philosophie, Linguistik, Informatik, Kognitionspsychologie) - Grundlagen der Gestaltung von Dokumentationssprachen - Grundlagen des Information Retrieval

    In diesem Beitrag wird die Zielsetzung und die geplante Durchführung des Projektes DDC Deutsch zur Herstellung einer deutschen Version der 22. Ausgabe der Dewey Decimal Classification näher beschrieben. Es werden Gründe für die Durchführung des Vorhabens diskutiert und der erwartete spätere Nutzen beschrieben.

    Abstract
    Die Informations- oder Wissensgesellschaft ist in aller Munde, das Verständnis derselben ist gleichwohl unklar. Unscharf ist auch das Verständnis der zugrunde liegenden Begriffe Information und Wissen sowie des Erwerbs von Information aus den verschiedenen medialen Repräsentationsformen. Allenfalls lässt sich eine gewisse Einseitigkeit bemerken, die durch den informationstechnischen Primat und an der Nachrichtentechnik orientierten Übertragungsformen geprägt ist. Ausgangspunkt der Erörterung ist die Beobachtung, dass Menschen Informationsbedürfnisse besitzen, die sie durch Inanspruchnahme verschiedenster externer Quellen und Hilfsmittel befriedigen wollen. Die neuartigen Speicher- und Findeformen führen zu übersteigerten Erwartungen, wenn man an all die Formulierungen mit virtuell, cyber, Hyper, Multimedia, Information Superhighway etc. denkt. Häufig wird dabei suggeriert, die veränderte mediale Präsentation habe neuartige und bessere Qualitäten für die Rezeption von Information, ohne dass die dabei beteiligten Prozesse völlig verstanden sind. Innerhalb eines konstruktivistischen Modells der kognitiven Informationsverarbeitung und der Rezeption medial gespeicherter Information werden Fragen der Darstellung und Rezeption von Information untersucht.
