    Abstract
    Der Beitrag beschreibt eine Usability-Studie zur Evaluation eines betrieblichen IntranetAngebots zum Thema Multimediales Lernen. Es wurde eine mehrstufige, kombinierte Evaluation durchgeführt eine heuristische Evaluation mit den neu entwickelten Heuristicsfor Web Communication als expertenorientierte Methode und ein Produkttest (Benutzertest) im Usability-Labor mit der Methode des lauten Denkens als benutzerorientierte Methode. Die Durchführung der Studie wird beschrieben und die Methoden diskutiert. Die Heuristics for Web Communication benötigen geschulte Gutachter, sind schnell und einfach anzuwenden und unterstützen ein systematisches Vorgehen beim Entdecken von Usability-Problemen. Die Evaluation mit den Heuristiken ist gut kombinierbar mit einem Benutzertest und ergänzt ihn, indem sie Usability-Probleme aufdeckt, die in Produkttests vermutlich nicht gefunden werden. Der Aufwand für den Produkttest ist sehr hoch, er liefert anschauliche und aussagekräftige Aussagen von echten Nutzern und rechtfertigt unter Umständen den Aufwand

    Abstract
    Ein Problem der Erstellung von Multimediaanwendungen in Unternehmen ist, dass die Sachkompetenz bezüglich der darzustellenden Inhalte nicht immer bei denjenigen Mitarbeitern liegt, die die Kompetenz für die mediengerechte Aufbereitung haben. Um umfangreiche Hypertextanwendungen - ggf. auch mit interaktiven Aufgaben Lind Multimediaelernenten - zu erzeugen, können Sachautoren von dem Umgang mit Multimediasoftware weitgehend entlastet werden. Der von den Sachautoren verfasste Text ist dazu von vornherein mit minimalen Textauszeichnungen zu versehen. Dazu braucht er seine Textverarbeitung nicht zu verlassen. Um jetzt einen interaktiven Hypertext oder eine 1 lypermediaanwendung mit einzelnen Einträgen und zusätzlichen umfangreichen Navigationskomponenten zu erzeugen und weitere Medien an den jeweils richtigen Stellen einzufügen, ist ein Programm erforderlich, das die Anwendung erzeugen hilft (Engine). Zu den Themen "Hypertext" und "Multimedia" erscheinen etliche Publikationen. Eine Vielzahl von ihnen hat theoretische und konzeptionelle Aspekte zum Inhalt (z. B. Lobin 1999, Brusilovsky 1998, Rouet 1996). Manche betonen den Anwendungsbezug (Gerdes 1997, Hofinann/Simon 1995), der unter besonderer Berücksichtigung für Information oder Ausbildung gesehen werden kann (vgl. Glowalla 1992). Andere sind von historischem Interesse (Nelson 1992), klären die Begrifflichkeit und die Grundlagen (Schnupp 1992, Kuhlen 1991, Seyer 1991, Nielsen 1990, Hashim 1990) oder geben Hinweise auf die Benutzung (MacGrew 1989). Ferner gibt es programmspezifische Literatur, die die technische Handhabung bei der Erstellung unterstützt. Solche Literatur kann genutzt werden, um Aspekte zu gewinnen, die für die Anlage und Ausrichtung einer Hypertextanwendung sinnvoll sind. Werden hingegen existierende Hypertextanwendungen betrachtet, so bleibt der damit verbundene Aufwand und die Organisationsstruktur oft im Dunkeln

    Abstract
    Tonmaterial in Form von Audio- oder Videoaufnahmen spielt in Bereichen der Wissenschaft, die sich mit verbaler Interaktion beschäftigen, eine bedeutende Rolle. Solche Gebiete sind u,a. die Linguistik, Psychologie, Soziologie und Kriminalistik. Gegenstand der Untersuchung können dabei z.B. die Formen des sprachlichen Handelns und der Sprachvariation in Abhängigkeit von der Situation oder die Ausprägung und Entwicklung von Sprachunterschieden vor dem sozialen Hintergrund sein. Im Rahmen der Analyse eines Gesprächsverlaufs kann beispielsweise die Form der Rederechtsicherung von Interesse sein. In diesem Zusammenhang stellen sich Fragen wie z.B. "Wie bringen Gesprächsteilnehrner Gesprächsbeteiligte dazu, ihre Rede zu unterbrechen?" oder "Wie wehren Gesprächsteilnehmer Unterbrechungsversuche voll anderen Teilnehmern ab?". Denkbar ist hier u.a. nach dem Vorkommen von "ausreden lassen" zu suchen, wobei diese beiden Wörter nicht unbedingt nebeneinander auftreten müssen. Bei der Suche nach Stellen an denen ein Gesprächsteilnehmer Ansprüche oder Forderungen an einen Gesprächspartner stellt, können die flektierten Formen der Modalverben wie z.B. "müssen", "sollen" oder "dürfen" für die Anfrage wichtig sein, während Konnektiva wie "aber", "ja aber" oder "doch" auf oppositive Gesprächsabschnitte verweisen können. Näheres zur gesprächsanalytischen Methodik kann Deppermann (1999) und Brünner et al. (1999) entnommen werden. In dem Bereich der Linguistik, die den Gebrauch von gesprochener Sprache in offiziellen und privaten Situationen zum Gegenstand hat, sind u.a. auch Aussprachevarianten von großem Interesse. Von der Untersuchung der Sprachfärbungen erhofft man sich detaillierte Aussagen über die Sprechersituation und die regionale (König (1988)) und soziale Herkunft des Sprechers machen zu können.     Firmen handeln zunehmend global.     Abstract
    Lang schon bemüht sich unser Verein, seine gesammelte Schätze, Exponate und Nachlässe einer interessierten Öffentlichkeit zu präsentieren; denn nur so lassen sich breitere Unterstützung und nachhaltiges Interesse für die Film- und Fernsehstadt Hamburg und ihre Geschichte auf Dauer gewinnen und eventuell sogar das geneigte Engagement von Sponsoren bewegen. Doch über wenige Ausstellungen und die Schaukästen im (ehemaligen) Landesmedienzentrum hinaus reichten bislang Kraft und Finanzen nicht. So reifte die Idee, es doch auf mindestens kostengeringe Weise virtuell zu probieren, zumal die Zeit dafür reif ist, Knowhow und Gerätschaften vorhanden sind oder sich allmählich anschaffen ließen und das Medium Film mit seinen visuellen Reizen dazu gerade angetan ist, es auf HTML-Seiten mit allerlei Fenstern, bewegten Szenarien und Links zu präsentieren. Ein virtuelles Museum für Film und Fernsehen, das könnte auch in heutiger Zeit mit klammen öffentlichen Kassen ein kleines Highlight sein, obendrein das erste in seiner Art, wie unsere Recherchen erwiesen haben. Denn die realen in Berlin, Potsdam, Frankfurt/M., München und Düsseldorf begnügen sich (noch?) mit wenigen, nur ankündigenden Websites; sie wollen die Besucher ja in ihr Haus locken und dürfen nicht allzu freigiebig im WWW alles offenbaren.

    "Damit die Formen, in denen Multimedia in den nächsten Jahren entstehen wird, nicht nur von wirtschaftlichen Interessen dominiert werden, ist eine breite und aktive Beteiligung vor allem von jungen Leuten notwendig.     Abstract
    Dow Jones & Company (NYSE:DJ) hat am 13. Juni 2007 seine Partnerschaft mit PodZinger bekannt gegeben. PodZinger ist derzeit die einzige Multimedia-Plattform, die es ermöglicht, Audio- und Videoinhalte über Schlagworte zu suchen. Diese Suchfunktion wird über die Nachrichten- und Wirtschaftsinformationsdienste Factiva.com und Factiva iWorks zur Verfügung stehen. So können Anwender ab August 2007 Video- und Audio-Informationen abrufen, darunter Wirtschaftsnachrichten, CEO-Interviews, Vorträge von führenden Managern, Jahreshauptversammlungen, Produktrezensionen und andere einschlägige Inhalte. Laut eMarketer wurden allein im Januar 2007 über 7,2 Milliarden Videostreams von mehr als 123 Millionen Konsumenten betrachtet. AccuStream iMedia erwartet ein jährliches Wachstum an Multimedia-Nutzern von 30 Prozent. Trotzdem ist es noch immer sehr zeitaufwändig, relevante Inhalte zu finden, weil die meisten Multimedia-Seiten nur begrenzt Metadaten anbieten und nur rudimentäre Suchmöglichkeiten für Audio- und Videoinhalte zur Verfügung stellen. Oft resultieren aus der Suche dann große Informationsmengen, die für den Suchenden kaum relevant sind. Das Multimedia-Angebot von Factiva basiert auf den Speech-to-Text und Natural Language Technologien von PodZinger. Genutzt wird bei Factiva Multimedia auch das patentierte Factiva Intelligent Indexing(TM), und Suchergebnisse werden in Form von Charts und Grafiken dargestellt. Der Anwender erhält damit einen Überblick über den Kontext seiner Recherche. Gemäß einer Studie, die PodZinger 2006 in Auftrag gegeben hatte, hören oder schauen sich Menschen nur rund 15 Prozent einer Audio- oder Videodatei an. Dow Jones kombiniert die Stärken von Factiva und PodZinger zu einer einzigartigen Multimedia-Suchmaschine. Relevante Inhalte können mit Hilfe von spezifischen Suchbegriffen herausgefiltert werden. Anschließend können die Anwender selbst entscheiden, ob sie den gesamten Clip oder nur den für ihn relevanten Teil sehen oder hören wollen. Das Multimedia Angebot von Factiva umfasst ergänzend: Kontinuierlich aktualisierte Inhalte aus mehr als 4.000 Nachrichten- und Wirtschaftsquellen mit mehr als 300.000 Clips.     Abstract
    Die Länder sind für den Rundfunk zuständig, der Bund für Telekommunikation. So sieht es das Grundgesetz vor. Doch was, wenn die Grenzen zwischen Massen- und Individualkommunikation nicht mehr trennscharf sind? "Die schöne alte Ordnung der Begriffe ist vorbei", konstatierte der nordrhein-westfälische Regierungschef Wolfgang Clement auf dem Kölner Medienforum. Zwar haben Bund und Länder im vergangenen Jahr mit dem Informations- und Kommunikationsdienste-Gesetz (IuKDG) und dem Mediendienste-Staatsvertrag fast wortgleiche Multimedia-Regelungen getroffen, doch wie geht es in der digitalen Welt weiter? Der Bundesminister für Forschung und Technologie, Jürgen Rüttgers (CDU), und der Ministerpräsident des Landes Rheinland-Pfalz und Vorsitzende der Rundfunkkommission der Länder, Kurt Beck (SPD), diskutieren über die Medienentwicklung und ihre Folgen in Bonn.
