    Abstract
    Die Verwendung von Erschließungsinstrumenten zur Beschreibung von Informationsressourcen kann Effizienz und Effektivität thematischer Recherchen wesentlich steigern: standardisierte Begriffe unterstützen Recall und Precision begrifflicher Suchen; Ausweisung von Relationen bietet die Grundlage für explorative Suchprozesse. Eine zusätzliche Steigerung der Funktionalitäten des Retrievals kann mittels einer Ausdifferenzierung und Spezifizierung der in Normdaten enthaltenen semantischen Informationen erreicht werden, die über die in Thesauri und Klassifikationen verbreiteten grundlegenden Relationstypen (äquivalent, hierarchisch, assoziativ) hinausgehen. In modernen Informationsräumen, in denen Daten verschiedener Institutionen über eine Plattform zeit- und ortsunabhängig zugänglich gemacht werden, können einzelne Wissenssysteme indes nur unzureichend das Information Retrieval unterstützen. Zu unterschiedlich sind die für thematische Suchanfragen relevanten Indexierungsdaten. Eine Verbesserung kann mittels Herstellung von Interoperabilität zwischen den verschiedenen Dokumentationssprachen erreicht werden. Im Vortrag wird dargelegt, in welcher Art und Weise die in Wissenssystemen enthaltenen semantischen Informationen zur Unterstützung thematischer Recherchen optimiert werden können und inwiefern Interoperabilität zwischen Systemen geschaffen werden kann, die gleichwertige Funktionalitäten in heterogenen Informationsräumen gewährleisten. In diesem Zusammenhang wird auch auf aktuelle Mappingprojekte wie das DFG-Projekt CrissCross oder das RESEDA-Projekt, welches sich mit den Möglichkeiten der semantischen Anreicherung bestehender Dokumentationssprachen befasst, eingegangen.

    Abstract
    Die erste Spam wurde 1978 an 400 Empfänger im Arpanet geschickt. Absender war ein Mitarbeiter der PR-Abtei lung von Digital Equipment Corporation (Dec), der darin für den damals neuen Decsystem-20-Rechner der Firma warb. Heute macht Spam mehr als zwei Drittel der über das Internet versandten E-Mails aus; täglich werden mehrere Milliarden solcher unverlangten Werbebotschaften versandt. Ein Drittel aller EMail-Nutzer hat mehr als 80 Prozent Spam in der elektronischen Post. Seit einiger Zeit sorgt Spam zudem durch so genannte Phishing-Attacken für Ärger: Dabei werden gefälschte E-Mails, die Fake-E-Mails, verschickt, die scheinbar von Mitarbeitern großer, Vertrauen erweckender Institutionen stammen, tatsächlich aber von Betrügern kommen - um damit Kreditkartennummern oder andere persönliche Informationen auszuspionieren. Nach einer Studie von Gartner Research von 2004 verursachen Phishing-Attacken in den USA Schäden in Höhe von jährlich 1,2 Milliarden Dollar. Spammer nutzen nicht nur E-Mail. In Chatrooms warten »Roboter«, die sich als Menschen ausgeben und Leute zu Klicks auf pornografische Webseiten verleiten sollen. Nutzer von Instant-Messaging-Systemen (IM) bekommen es mit so genannten splMs zu tun, engen »Verwandten« des Spams. In Web-Blogs (Web-Tagebüchern) lauern »Link-Spammer«, welche die Arbeit von Internetsuchmaschinen manipulieren, indem sie unerwünschte Links hinzufügen - was die Nutzung von Webseiten und Links erschwert. Spam steht teilweise in dem Ruf, die Internetkommunikation zu behindern oder gar zum Erliegen zu bringen. Die Wirklichkeit sieht indes nicht ganz so schwarz aus. Softwareentwickler haben verschiedene Techniken ersonnen, Spam auszufiltern und Spammern das Handwerk zu erschweren - weitere werden in Labors erprobt. Die hier vorgestellten Methoden richten sich gegen Junk-EMail, könnten aber auch zur Eindämmung anderer Spamvarianten verwendet werden. Keine dieser Techniken vermag Wunder zu vollbringen, doch ihre Kombination - sofern möglichst viele User sie anwenden - verspricht zumindest deutliche Verbesserungen. Es ist nicht unrealistisch zu hoffen, dass unsere E-MailPostfächer eines Tages wieder nahezu frei von Spam sein werden.

Für die 'Erlanger' ist 'Konstruktivismus' ein Synonym für 'konstruktive Wissenschaftstheorie'. Beide Postulate, sowohl die lebenspraktische Orientierung als auch die methodische Genauigkeit' vereinen sich in den Schriften Matthias Gatzemeiers, die hier im ersten Band seiner gesammelten Aufsätze und Vorträge unter dem Titel "Zur Philosophie der wissenschaftlichen Welt" vorliegen. Das ca. 700 Seiten starke Opus umfasst zu etwa gleichen Teilen systematische und historische Arbeiten aus den Siebzigerjahren bis heute, die eine reiches Themenspektrum abdecken und dennoch eine erstaunliche Kohärenz aufweisen, die ihre Ursache nicht zuletzt in der durchgängigen methodischen Stringenz der Untersuchungen hat. Einige der Arbeiten beschäftigen sich mit Fragen der Wissenschaftstheorie, andere mit der gesellschaftlichen Rolle von Wissenschaft - wobei sich gerade in diesem Themenbereich zeigt, wie aktuell viele politische Debatten, die bereits in den siebziger und achtziger Jahren geführt wurden - gerade was die 'Nützlichkeit' von Geisteswissenschaften angeht - bis heute geblieben sind. Hierzu finden sich in den persönlichen Vorbemerkungen des Autors einige resümierende Überlegungen. Weitere systematische Arbeiten sind der Argumentationstheorie sowie der Hermeneutik und Interpretationstheorie gewidmet.
    Die historischen Rekonstruktionen haben ihren Schwerpunkt in der Antike, reichen aber ebenfalls bis in die Gegenwart hinein. Die Schriften zur Antike umfassen u. a. Arbeiten zum traditionellen Mythenverständnis, zur antiken Philosophie im allgemeinen, zu den Anfängen sprachphilosophischen Denkens, Platons Theorie der politischen Entscheidung, zur Platonischen Liebe sowie zu Wissenschafts- und RhetorikKonzeption des Aristoteles. Desweiteren enthält der Band Rekonstruktionen zu Kants Begriff des Apriori, zu Bolzanos Kunsttheorie und zum Mythos der Europa-Idee. Besonders interessant, weil selten behandelt, sind auch Gatzemeiers Schriften zur Anthropologie der Frau, die das Buch abschließen und zum zweiten Band überleiten, der noch in diesem Jahr erscheinen soll. Im Anhang findet sich ein umfangreiches, hierarchisch strukturiertes Sachregister, mit dessen Hilfe man mühelos einzelne Probleme und Analysen ansteuern kann. Auffallend, dass sich viele der Beiträge trotz ihres hohen philosophischen Standards nicht nur an Fachphilosophen richten, sondern ebenso für "interessierte Laien" verständlich sind. Auch Lehrer können insbesondere aus Gatzemeiers Überlegungen zu Theorie und Praxis des Argumentierens im Hinblick auf ihre Unterrichtsgestaltung hohen Nutzen ziehen: Dies ist keine Elfenbeinturmphilosophie, sondern grundsolides philosophisches Handwerk, mit dem man, auch in heutigen bildungspolitischen Debatten, keinerlei Legitimationsprobleme hat.     Abstract
    Nach der Veröffentlichung einer deutschen Übersetzung der Dewey Decimal Classification 22 im Oktober 2005 und ihrer Nutzung zur Inhaltserschließung in der Deutschen Nationalbibliographie seit Januar 2006 stellt sich aus Sicht der deutschen kunsthistorischen Spezialbibliotheken die Frage nach einer möglichen Verwendung der DDC und ihrer generellen Eignung zur Inhalterschließung kunsthistorischer Publikationen. Diese Frage wird vor dem Hintergrund der bestehenden bibliothekarischen Strukturen für die Kunstgeschichte sowie mit Blick auf die inhaltlichen Besonderheiten, die Forschungsmethodik und die publizistischen Traditionen dieses Faches erörtert.

Denn dass im digitalen Zeitalter jeder Leser auch gleichzeitig Autor ist, betonen die Verfechter der so genannten "Open Source"-Bewegung nur allzu gern. Als Nutzer der Website steht jedermann die Möglichkeit offen, aktiv zu werden: Wer angemeldet ist, kann alle Artikel überarbeiten, korrigieren und editieren - ohne dass dabei eine Redaktionsinstanz eingreift. Nachdem Directmedia im Herbst erstmals eine CD-ROM-Fassung von Wikipedia auf den Markt gebracht hat, ist nun eine Version auf DVD-ROM erschienen. Diese enthält über 204 000 Artikel und rund 19 000 Abbildungen. Inhaltlich kann das den großen Konkurrenten Brockhaus und Microsoft das Wasser reichen, nicht jedoch in der Handhabung. Allzu oft muss sich der Wissenshungrige mit der Maus durchs Alphabet klicken, wenn er etwas finden will. Aber beim niedrigen Preis von 9,90 Euro ist das zu verkraften."
