    Abstract
    Die Einleitung zu Heinrich Hertz' letztem Werk "Die Prinzipien der Mechanik in neuem Zusammenhange dargestellt" ist ein Meilenstein auf dem langen Weg von Galileis Auffassung, das "Buch der Natur" sei in "geometrischen Zeichen geschrieben", zum modernen Konzept des mathematischen Modells. Hertz scheint der Erste gewesen zu sein, der die Bedeutung der naturwissenschaftlichen Entwicklung des 19. Jahrhunderts für die Rolle der Mathematik in der Naturerkenntnis ins Bewusstsein gehoben und die Konsequenzen deutlich ausgesprochen hat: Es gibt für einen Gegenstandsbereich etwa der Physik verschiedene richtige mathematische Beschreibungen und nicht nur die eine. Deswegen müssen für die Auswahl der "inneren Scheinbilder und Symbole der äußeren Gegenstände" (im heutigen Sprachgebrauch: der mathematischen Modelle) weitere Kriterien hinzu kommen. Hertz nennt als die drei wichtigsten: Richtigkeit, Zulässigkeit, Zweckmäßigkeit. Das damit verbundene Auseinanderfallen von Mathematik und Substanzwissenschaften hat Folgen auch für die Grenzen der Naturerkenntnis, die mehr als hundert Jahre später immer noch oft übersehen werden.

Jahrhunderts. Als integraler Bestandteil der Datenbank zbMATH bieten die Daten des JFM einen Zugang zur mathematischen Literatur ab der Mitte des 19. Jahrhunderts. Das Jahrbuch hat eine bewegte Geschichte. Es entstand aus einer privaten Initiative, geriet durch den ersten Weltkrieg in eine tiefe Krise, wurde dann von der Preußischen Akademie der Wissenschaften übernommen, die das Jahrbuch noch bis zum Ende des zweiten Weltkriegs unter sich ständig verschlechternden Rahmenbedingungen und zunehmenden politischen Restriktionen weiterbetrieben hat. Der Artikel beschreibt die Enstehungsgeschichte und die Entwicklung des JFM von 1868 bis heute und würdigt das Wirken der Mathematiker, die federführend daran beteiligt waren. Einen Schwerpunkt bildet die konzeptionelle Diskussion und die Entwicklung der Anforderungen an mathematische Literaturdokumentationsdienste, die heute, im digitalen Zeitalter, vor gänzlich neuen Herausforderungen stehen. Zusätzlich zu den Daten des JFM liegt einiges an Originaldokumenten und Sekundärliteratur in der Berlin-Brandenburgischen Akademie der Wissenschaften (BBAW) vor. Aber nicht alles wurde dokumentiert und vieles ist verschollen, etwa die Daten des JFM für das Jahr 1943. Wir weisen an mehreren Stellen im Artikel darauf hin.

    Abstract
    Seit dem 30. November 2022 sind sog. "Chatbots" im Internet frei verfügbar - quasi als ansprechbarer "Avatar" für einen virtuellen "Dialog" zu einem (nahezu?) beliebigen Thema, so etwa derzeit (noch?) kostenfrei über den Link chatgpt.ch. Bereits die letzten beiden Ausgaben der Mitteilungen widmeten sich dem damit eröffnenden Themenkreis exemplarisch mit unterschiedlichen, z. T. verblüffenden Beispielen. Und sofort wurde (nicht nur mir) im Kontakt mit Kolleginnen und Kollegen aus Schule und Hochschule deutlich, dass sich hieraus Konsequenzen für künftige Prüfungsleistungen ergeben, etwa sogar in derart krasser Form, dass "häuslich erbrachte Leistungen nicht mehr bewertbar" seien. Solchen Diskussionen mit der Suche nach Lösungen und Konzepten wird nicht auszuweichen sein. In diesem Essay wird kurz der Bereich des Mathematikunterrichts an allgemeinbildenden Schulen angesprochen und dabei ein Vergleich mit der rund 30 Jahre alten didaktischen Diskussion zur sog. "Trivialisierung" des Mathematikunterrichts durch die damals aufkommenden Computeralgebrasysteme gezogen. Antworten dazu müssen in der nun anstehenden fachdidaktischen Diskussion gefunden werden. Der früher mal favorisierte und derzeit wohl kaum praktizierte "Mathematische Aufsatz" im Gymnasium wird angesichts von ChatGPT wohl definitiv nicht mehr möglich sein.

    Abstract
    IMAGINARY verfügt über eine große Spannbreite und eine Vielzahl an Ressourcen im Bereich der Mathematik- und Wissenschaftskommunikation. In diesem Artikel werden Formate zum Thema Künstliche Intelligenz (KI) für Zielgruppen mit unterschiedlichem Vor- und Fachwissen vorgestellt. Zwei grundlegende Themen, die eine wichtige Rolle im Maschinellen Lernen bilden, stehen dabei im Vordergrund: Neuronale Netze und Reinforcement Learning. IMAGINARY vermittelt diese beiden Schwerpunkte auf vielfältige Weise. Dieser Beitrag stellt einige der verwendeten Formate vor: Von interaktiven Exponaten in der Ausstellung "I AM A.I." zu "Explorables" in digitalen Programmen, über Online-Kurse auf Lernplattformen bis hin zu Workshops für Schüler*innen oder Mathematiklehrkräfte.

    Abstract
    Mit Sprachassistenten wie ChatGPT und Bard stehen seit kurzem Werkzeuge zur Verfügung, die natürlichsprachliche Eingaben (engl. prompts) verarbeiten und ebenso in natürlicher Sprache beantworten können. Nachdem der auf dem Large Language Model GPT-3.5 basierende KI-Sprachassistent ChatGPT im November 2022 von der Firma OpenAI veröffentlicht worden war, waren selbst KI-Expert*innen von dessen Leistungsfähigkeit überrascht. Seitdem ist die Entwicklung rasch vorangeschritten: Mitterweile ist das noch leistungsfähigere Sprachmodell GPT-4 veröffentlicht, und Google hat mit dem Sprachassistenten Bard nachgezogen. Es liegt nahe, diese Werkzeuge auch einmal hinsichtlich ihres mathematischen Potenzials zu untersuchen. Kann ChatGPT eine Rolle in der Mathematik spielen, etwa beim Lösen mathematischer Aufgaben?

    Abstract
    Die Zahl der mathematik-relevanten Publikationn steigt von Jahr zu Jahr an. Referatedienste wie da Zentralblatt MATH und Mathematical Reviews erfassen die bibliographischen Daten, erschließen die Arbeiten inhaltlich und machen sie - heute über Datenbanken, früher in gedruckter Form - für den Nutzer suchbar. Keywords sind ein wesentlicher Bestandteil der inhaltlichen Erschließung der Publikationen. Keywords sind meist keine einzelnen Wörter, sondern Mehrwortphrasen. Das legt die Anwendung linguistischer Methoden und Verfahren nahe. Die an der FH Köln entwickelte Software 'Lingo' wurde für die speziellen Anforderungen mathematischer Texte angepasst und sowohl zum Aufbau eines kontrollierten Vokabulars als auch zur Extraction von Keywords aus mathematischen Publikationen genutzt. Es ist geplant, über eine Verknüpfung von kontrolliertem Vokabular und der Mathematical Subject Classification Methoden für die automatische Klassifikation für den Referatedienst Zentralblatt MATH zu entwickeln und zu erproben.
