    Abstract
    Knowledge management, in particular corporate knowledge management, is a challenge companies and researchers have to meet. The conceptual graph formalism is a good candidate for the representation of corporate knowledge, and for the development of knowledge management systems. But many of the issues concerning the use of conceptual graphs as a metalanguage have not been worked out in detail. By introducing a function that maps higher level to lower level, this paper clarifies the metalevel semantics, notation and manipulation of concepts in the conceptual graph formalism. In addition, this function allows metamodeling activities to take place using the CG notation

    Abstract
    In zunehmendem Maße müssen immer größere Datenmengen in Datenbanksystemen verwaltet werden. Ein neuer Ansatz zur Beherrschung großer Datenbanken ist die Archivierung in Datenbanksystemen. Das Buch stellt hierfür ein Konzept und eine Sprache vor. Es wird auf die Themen Archivierungsfunktionalität, Zeitaspekte, Datenintegrität, Schema, Meta-Daten, SQL und Implementierung eingegangen. Anhand von ausführlichen Beispielen werden Lösungen vorgestellt und erläutert. Die Bedeutung der Thematik wird durch erste Lösungen der Praxis von SAP und IBM dokumentiert. Durch den didaktischen Aufbau und die Praxisnähe ist das Buch gleichermaßen für Studenten und Praktiker geeignet.

    Abstract
    Die zukünftige Informationsverarbeitung integriert Personal Computer und die 'low cost' Workstationen in die moderne Rechnerwelt und übernimmt dabei universelle Aufgaben der Bürokommunikation - vom intelligenten Telefon über den Einsatz als Fax-Gerät, zur Abfrage externer Datenbanken und als Arbeitsplatzrechner in vielfältigen Anwendungen. Dabei werden alle Information in digitaler Form gespeichert und bearbeitet. Elektronische Archivierung und Vorgangsbearbeitung nehmen dabei eine Schlüsselstellung innerhalb der modernen Informationsverarbeitung ein und ermöglichen erhebliche Qualitäts-, Zeit- und Wettbewerbsgewinne. Das Angebotsspektrum ist vielfältiger und preislich günstiger geworden. Die elektronische Vorgangsbearbeitung und der Einsatz digitaler optischer Speicher ('optical filing' in Verbindung mit 'image processing'), wird damit auch für kleinere Unternehmen interessant. Die Spannweiter reicht heute von großen individuellen und unternehmensweiten Lösungen bis hin zum komfortablen Einzelplatzsystem.     Abstract
    Es liegt eine Vielzahl von Vorschlägen darüber vor, was unter "Informationswirtschaft" verstanden werden soll. Tendenzen zu einer Einigung sind nicht in Sicht. Teilweise unterscheiden sich die Definitionen durch ihre unterschiedliche Reichweite, so dass die eine Definition von "Informationswirtschaft" als Teilmenge einer weitergehenden Definition von "Informationswirtschaft" gesehen werden kann. Beispielsweise versteht das Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Arbeit (BMWA) unter Informationswirtschaft die Summe der Teilbranchen "Telekommunikation, Informations- und Kommunikationstechnik, Elektronische Informationsdienste und E-Commerce". Hingegen sollte nach dem früheren Verband für Informationswirtschaft (VIW) unter "Informationswirtschaft" nur die Branche "Elektronische Informationsdienste" gesehen werden. Es gibt aber auch Definitionen von "Informationswirtschaft", die über kaum oder keine gemeinsamen Schnittmengen verfügen. So weist Wolfgang G. Stock darauf hin, dass sich die Definitionen von "Informationswirtschaft" in den Studiengängen der FH Darmstadt ("zeitgemäße Spielart von Dokumentation bzw. Spezialbibliothek") und der TU Karlsruhe (vor allem Informatik, aber auch wirtschafts- und rechtswissenschaftliche Fragen) völlig voneinander unterscheiden. Auch dürfte es wichtige Probleme geben, für die es aus systematischen Gründen nahe liegt, sie der "Informationswirtschaft" zuzuordnen, die jedoch von keiner der gängigen Definitionsvorschläge erfasst werden. Darunter fallen zum Beispiel die wirtschaftlichen Probleme der Informationsgenerierung.
    Angesichts dieser Heterogenität muss es nicht überraschen, dass sich auch im Rahmen gegebener Definitionen keine allgemein bewährten theoretischen Ansätze, Systematiken oder auch nur eine konsensfähige Liste relevanter Fragen ergeben haben. Vielmehr scheint das, was und wie es erörtert wird, eine Frage individueller Vorlieben, des Einflusses verschiedener Disziplinen (insbesondere Betriebswirtschaft, Volkswirtschaft, Marktforschung und Sozialwissenschaften), sich ergebender Konventionen von Erörterungen (die sich freilich immer nur auf Teilausschnitte der Informationswirtschaft beziehen) sowie aktueller wirtschaftlicher und politischer Probleme zu sein. Mehr noch als auf der allgemeinen Ebene definitorischer Bestimmungen und Abgrenzungen lassen sich auf den konkreteren Erörterungsebenen eine Vielzahl relevanter Themen, Thesen und Untersuchungsperspektiven finden, die kaum oder nicht oder nur unter einseitigen Interessentengesichtspunkten abgehandelt beziehungsweise eingenommen worden sind. Wohl liegen zum Teil ausgefeilte begriffliche, theoretische und weitere methodologische Instrumentarien vor, die mehr oder minder geeignet erscheinen, Phänomene der Informationswirtschaft zu beschreiben. Diese Begriffe, Hypothesen und theoretischen Ansätze sind aber nur von einem geringen prognostischem und pragmatischem Wert. Wer über einen längeren Zeitraum informationswirtschaftliche Marktforschung betrieben hat, wird Jahr für Jahr die Erfahrung gemacht haben, dass er (und mit ihm die gesamte Expertengemeinschaft) von neuen Entwicklungen überrascht worden ist. Das beste Beispiel dafür ist der sich in der Mitte der 90er Jahre vollzogene Aufstieg des Internet, der weder in seinem Entwicklungstempo noch in der erreichten wirtschaftlichen und gesellschaftlichen Bedeutung des Internets von jemandem vorausgesehen worden ist. Dennoch ist der pragmatische Wert des uns vorliegenden informationswirtschaftlichen Wissens keineswegs gleich Null. Man denke nur an die vielen nützlichen Werkzeuge und Technologien, die beispielsweise entwickelt worden sind, um Informationen zu ordnen, wiederzufinden, zu vervielfältigen und zu verbreiten (beispielsweise über Netze). Andererseits sind wir beispielsweise auch im Vergleich zu anderen "Emerging Markets" wie den der Biotechnologie weit davon entfernt, politische Erfolgsprogramme mit objektiv hohen Erfolgschancen konstruieren, den Take-off neuer informationswirtschaftlicher Teilmärkte voraussagen oder auch nur die Wirkungen neuer Ausbalancierungen der Internet-Gesetzgebung zwischen Gesetzlichkeit und Freiheit des Internet in Einzelheiten voraussehen zu können.

    Abstract
    Information spielt heute im Wirtschaftsgeschehen eine überragende Rolle. Die Bedeutung der Information und des gesamten Umgangs mit Information schlägt sich auch im Ausbildungsbereich nieder. Das Studium der Prozesse und Maßnahmen zur effizienten Gewinnung und Nutzung von Information und zur Gestaltung effizienter Informationsverarbeitung ist für Studenten unverzichtbar. Dieses Lehrbuch vermittelt Wirtschaftswissenschaftlern systematisch die wesentlichen Kenntnisse für das Verständnis des Zusammenwirkens von Hard- und Software im betrieblichen Einsatz. Ein Anhang mit Lösungen zu den im Buch enthaltenen Übungsbeispielen will den praxisbezogenen Ansatz des Buches betonen und den Zugang zur Informationswirtschaft erleichtern. Die 2.     Abstract
    Der Begriff 'Informationsmanagement' hat sich sowohl in der Wissenschaft als auch in der Praxis eingebürgert. Viele benutzen ihn, doch wage ich zu behaupten, daß viele, die ihn benutzen, sich nicht über seine Definition einig sind. Je nachdem, in welchem Sinne der Management- und Informationsbegriff definiert und ausgelegt wird, lassen sich unterschiedliche Bedeutungen des zusammengesetzten Begriffs Informationsmanagement analysieren. Dies ist der Hauptgrund dafür, weshalb Informationsmanagement in unterschiedlichen Disziplinen (jedoch auch situationsbedingt) begrifflich differenziert verwendet wird und keine allgemein gültige Definition vorliegt. Aus diesem Grunde ist es dringend notwendig, den Begriff bzw. die Inhalte des Informationsmanagement (IM) zu analysieren und zu beschreiben; dabei sollte dies aus informationswissenschaftlicher Sicht und nicht wie so oft einseitig aus der Sicht der DV-Manager bzw. Informatiker geschehen. Dies gilt besonders deshalb, als die beiden letzteren unter dem Begriff häufig nur das Management der Datenverarbeitung bzw. der Informationstechnologien im Unternehmen verstehen. Für uns Fachleute, die andere Bereiche der Informationsarbeit im Unternehmen abdecken (wie etwa den Bereich Information und Dokumentation, IuD) und die in der Praxis informations- und kommunikationswissenschaftliche Konzepte umsetzen, ist dieser Informatik-geprägte IM-Begriff unbefriedigend und auch unvollständig, da er unsere Arbeit nicht integriert. Die vorliegende Arbeit hat deshalb das Ziel, eine eigene informationswissenschaftliche Begriffsbeschreibung zu skizzieren, wie sie auch in der unternehmerischen Praxis sinnvoll ist. Dabei kann auf bisherige, umfangreiche Lehr- und Forschungsarbeiten der Informationswissenschaft zurückgegriffen werden
