    Die Konferenz FSR 2014 fand vom 27.-28. Februar 2014 in den Räumlichkeiten der Scuola Vaticana di Biblioteconomia in Rom statt. Veranstaltet wurde diese Ta- gung rund um das Thema Bibliothekskataloge und ihre Zukunft von der Associazione Italiana Biblioteche (AIB) und der Bibliotheca Apostolica Vaticana.     Abstract
    "Libraries: Tools for Education and Development" war das Motto der 70. IFLA-Generalkonferenz, dem Weltkongress Bibliothek und Information, der vom 22.-27. August 2004 in Buenos Aires, Argentinien, und damit erstmals in Lateinamerika stattfand. Rund 3.000 Teilnehmerinnen und Teilnehmer, davon ein Drittel aus spanischsprachigen Ländern, allein 600 aus Argentinien, besuchten die von der IFLA und dem nationalen Organisationskomitee gut organisierte Tagung mit mehr als 200 Sitzungen und Veranstaltungen. Aus Deutschland waren laut Teilnehmerverzeichnis leider nur 45 Kolleginnen und Kollegen angereist, womit ihre Zahl wieder auf das Niveau von Boston gesunken ist. Erfreulicherweise gab es nunmehr bereits im dritten Jahr eine deutschsprachige Ausgabe des IFLA-Express. Auch in diesem Jahr soll hier über die Veranstaltungen der Division IV Bibliographic Control berichtet werden. Die Arbeit der Division mit ihren Sektionen Bibliography, Cataloguing, Classification and Indexing sowie der neuen Sektion Knowledge Management bildet einen der Schwerpunkte der IFLA-Arbeit, die dabei erzielten konkreten Ergebnisse und Empfehlungen haben maßgeblichen Einfluss auf die tägliche Arbeit der Bibliothekarinnen und Bibliothekare. Erstmals wird auch ausführlich über die Arbeit der Core Activities ICABS und UNIMARC und der Information Technology Section berichtet.

    URL-Herkunftsken nungen Die Deutsche Bibliothek veröffentlicht auf ihrer Website <www ddb.de/professionell/pdf/ url herkunftskennungen.pdf> die in der Expertengruppe Online-Ressourcen erzielten Ergebnisse zu URL-Herkunftskennungen <urn:nbn:de:1111-200 4072123>. Uniform Resource Names (URNs) werden als Standardnummern mit dem Ziel erfasst, langfristig Uniform Resource Locators (URLs) zu ersetzen. Weitere Informationen zu URNs stehen unter <www. persistent-identifier.de> beziehungsweise <www.ddb.de/professionell/persistent identifier. htm> zur Verfügung. Die Expertengruppe OnlineRessourcen hält eine Zwischenlösung für erforderlich, welche die Erfassung von URLs mit Herkunftskennung vorsieht und im Datentausch zwischen den Verbünden eine eindeutige Kennzeichnungermöglicht. Nach ausführlicher Beratung, die sowohl bisher bereits verwendete Kennzeichnungen als auch neue Vorschläge berücksichtigte, sind bestimmte URL-Herkunftskennungen als verpflichtend vereinbart worden. Definitionen und eine einheitliche textliche MAB-Umsetzung wurden verabschiedet. Die Opac-Darstellung ist verbund- und bibliotheksabhängig. Eine Anwendung der URL-Herkunftskennungen ist sowohl für fortlaufend erscheinende Publikationen als auch für Monografien beschlossen worden. Über die genannten Kennzeichnungen hinaus können lokal und regional weitere Kennzeichnungen vereinbart werden. Änderungen im MAB-Format sind für eine Umsetzung des Ergebnisses nicht erforderlich. Der Standardisierungsausschuss hat in einem Umlaufverfahren im September die Inkraftsetzung und Veröffentlichung der in der Expertengruppe Online-Ressourcen erzielten Ergebnisse genehmigt. Die Deutsche Bibliothek wird die Bezieher ihrer Datendienste in gewohnter Weise über den Beginn der Anwendung in DDBDatendiensteninformieren."
