    Abstract
    »Das war mal 'ne Schulung, bei der richtig viel dabei war, was ich für die Auskunft brauchen kann.« Dieses Feedback nach einer ganztägigen Internet-Schulung freute die Mitglieder des Arbeitskreises Internet' an der Stadtbibliothek München besonders. Denn das war die Intention des Konzeptes: Praxisnah und bedarfsgerecht sollte das Schulungsprogramm sein, das der Arbeitskreis zusammen mit der externen Trainerin Nicola Wißbrock speziell für alle in der Auskunft tätigen Mitarbeiter der Münchner Stadtbibliothek entwickelt hatte. Über den Zeitraum von etwa einem Jahr (2002/2003) absolvierten fast 200 Mitarbeiter das Training in einer Kombination von Präsenz-Veranstaltung und Online-Modulen.

    Abstract
    Touch-screen kiosks are located in a variety of locations to provide the public with ready access to health information. This paper examines, via a questionnaire, the characteristics of adult users of a surgery-based kiosk. The Esk Medical Centre is in Musselburgh, near Edinburgh. Just under 200 questionnaires were returned and analysed. The research establishes characteristics of users and non-users, how the kiosk fits in with other consumer information sources, what health outcomes result from using the kiosk, and reasons for non-use. The main finding is that the respondents' attitude and previous experience with information technology has an impact on whether the touch-screen kiosk is used.

    Abstract
    Purpose - The purpose of this paper is to examine the information-seeking behavior of science and social science research scholars, including service effectiveness, satisfaction level on different type of sources and various methods adopted by the scholars for keeping up to date. Design/methodology/approach - Data were gathered using a questionnaire survey of 200, randomly selected, PhD students of science and social science departments of four universities in Kerala, India. Findings - Although similarities exist between social science and science PhD students with regard to information-seeking behavior, there are significant differences as well. There is a significant difference between science and social science scholars on the perception of the adequacy of print journals and database collection which are very relevant to the research purposes. There is no significant difference between science and social science scholars on the perception of the adequacy of e-journals, the most used source for keeping up to date. The study proved that scholars of both the fields are dissatisfied with the effectiveness of the library in keeping them up to date with latest developments. Originality/value - The study is based on actual situation and the result can be used for library service redesign for different types of users.
