- Abstract
- JavaScript ist ein effektiver Programmcode, der direkt in den HTML-Code einer Internet-Seite geschrieben wird. Man benötigt einen Web-Browser, einen ASCII-Editor und dieses Buch und schon kann es losgehen. Bekannt als "abgespecktes Java" stellt JavaScript, wie auch HTML und natürlich Java selbst, eine Säule des WWW dar. Es ist jedoch weitaus einfacher zu erlernen, leichter zu analysieren und bequemer zu handhaben als seine großen Geschwister; ein modernes Tool also. Seit Anfang 2001 gibt es Netscape 6, seit Sommer 2000 den Internet Explorer 5.5. Anlass genug, das Taschenbuch zu aktualisieren und die 3. Auflage herauszubringen. Vom selben Autor u.a. unter der Marke bhv erschienen: Die Einsteigerseminare Java 2, JavaScript und XML. Der Autor ist bereits durch Bücher, die sich mit der Gestaltung von Webseiten beschäftigen, bekannt. Hier befaßt er sich mit JavaScript, einer Scriptsprache, mit der man in Webseiten z.B. sehr einfach Farben verändern und Texte ausgeben, aber auch Fenster anzeigen lassen kann, die Menüs und Dialogboxen enthalten. Eigenständige Applikationen können mit JavaScript nicht erstellt werden. JavaScripte müssen in HTML-Code eingebettet sein und laufen nur unter einem Browser. Der Autor baut auf sein Einsteigerseminar auf, das einen großen Anklang gefunden und zu zahlreichen Rückfragen und Anregungen beim Autor geführt hat. Diese Anregungen sind zum großen Teil hier aufgenommen worden. Auf Grund dieser Entstehungsgeschichte ist es nicht verwunderlich, wenn einige Textpassagen aus dem Einsteigerseminar übernommen worden sind. Dennoch ist ein (zusätzlicher) Kauf auch des vorliegenden Werkes empfehlenswert. Völlig neu hinzugekommen sind die Kapitel zur Formularauswertung mit JavaScript, der Einsatz von Arrays und eine Befehlsreferenz von JavaScript.

- Das Internet und besonders das Web 2.0 sind ein Segen für die Meinungsfreiheit, so heißt es: Endlich können alle bestimmen, worüber diskutiert wird - nicht nur wenige Experten, Top-Journalisten und wortgewaltige Autoren, die das Meinungsmonopol für sich beanspruchen. Doch was haben wir uns da eingehandelt? Forumsbeiträge, die vor Dummheit und falschen Fakten strotzen, und an Idiotie kaum zu überbietende Videoclips bei YouTube. Es kommt noch schlimmer: - Politische Splitterparteien und verschrobene Wirrköpfe maskieren sich immer häufiger als harmlose Blogger, um demokratiefeindliche Hetzkampagnen zu verbreiten. Betroffene können sich kaum dagegen wehren. - Unternehmen betreiben auf subtile Weise "virales Marketing", um ihre Produkte von vermeintlich begeisterten Kunden empfehlen zu lassen. - Clevere Lobbyisten mischen sich unter falscher Identität in Diskussionen ein, um ihre fragwürdigen Interessen durchzusetzen. Wir befinden uns auf einem gefährlichen Irrweg, sagt Andrew Keen: Wo Halbwissen und blanke Lügen herrschen statt verlässlicher Information, da fehlt auch die Basis für vernünftige und tragfähige politische Entscheidungen, da ist unsere Kultur in ihren Grundfesten erschüttert. Ein scharf formuliertes Plädoyer gegen die absurden Auswüchse der großen Verdummungsmaschine, die sich Internet nennt.

Aber wie das so ist mit dem Müll: Für die einen ist es Abfall, andere suchen und finden meistens etwas, das sich zur Wiederverwer- tung eignet. Das muss Andrew Keen entgangen sein, obwohl der IT-Unternehmer (audiocafe.com), sich in der Materie auskennt. Aber das hindert ihn nicht, sich mit geradezu pietistischem Eifer wider den neu-bösen Feind zu wenden: den Blogger. Keen sieht im durch soziale Netzwerke und demokratische Teilhabe geprägten Web 2.0 nicht nur den "Kult des Amateurs" (so der Originaltitel, korrekt übersetzt), sondern sogar die "Vernichtung unserer Kultur". So richtig der eine oder andere Befund sein mag - etwa die Selbstbezüglichkeit vieler Slogger - er wird nicht richtiger durch penetrante Wiederholung. Falsch aber ist eine Behauptung wie die, dass Einträge bei Wikipedia (noch ein Lieblingsfeind Keens) nicht redigiert würden. Da hat sich einer in sein Bedürfnis nach werbewirksamer Polemik verrannt". - Diese Diplomarbeit beschreibt ein verteiltes Bibliothes-Informationssystem für bibliographische Datenbnaken im Internet. Der Name des Systems ist ZACK. Der Benutzer kann mit ZACK in einer oder mehreren bibliographischen Datenbanken nach einem Dokument suchen und die Treffer in die eigene lokale Datenbank übernehmen. Mit der Übernahme der Datensätze aus einer fremden Datenbank wird die Erfassung neuer Dokumente wesentlich erleichtert, da die Eigenkatalogisierung auf ein Minimum beschränkt werden kann. Bei der verteilten Suche mit ZACK wird parallel in mehreren Datenbanken gesucht. Dubletten werden als solche erkannt

- Abstract
- Die vorliegende Arbeit befasst sich mit den Möglichkeiten der Informationsextraktion aus den Daten von Webcommunities und der Verwendung der extrahierten Informationen in Case-Based Reasoning- (CBR) Systemen. Im Rahmen der Arbeit wird auf die Entwicklung der Webcommunities im Zeitraum der letzten 30 Jahre eingegangen. Es wird eine Klassifikation der derzeitig anzutreffenden Webcommunities in verschiedene Kategorien von Webcommunities vorgenommen. Diese Klassifikation erfolgt hinsichtlich der Struktur, der technischen Mittel sowie der Interessen der Nutzer dieser Webcommunities. Aufbauend auf die vorgenommene Klassifikation von Webcommunities erfolgt eine Untersuchung der Eignung dieser Kategorien von Webcommunities zur Informationsextraktion im Kontext der Verwendung der extrahierten Informationen in CBR-Systemen. Im selben Kontext werden verschiedene Ansätze und Techniken der Informationsextraktion auf ihre Eignung zur Extraktion von Wissen speziell für die Wissenscontainer von CBR -Systeme geprüft. Aufbauend auf den dadurch gewonnenen Erkenntnissen wird, angelehnt an den Prozess der Knowledge Discovery in Databases, ein eigenes Prozessmodell der Wissensextraktion aus Webcommunities für CBR-Systeme entworfen. Im Zuge der näheren Betrachtung dieses Prozessmodells wird auf verschiedene, durch die beabsichtigte Verwendung der extrahierten Informationen in den vier Wissenscontainern des CBR bedingte, Anforderungen an NLP- sowie IE-Techniken, die zur Extraktion dieser Daten verwendet werden, eingegangen. Die in den theoretischen Betrachtungen erlangten Erkenntnisse werden dann dazu eingesetzt, eine Anwendung zur Informationsextraktion aus einer Webcommunity für ein CBR-System, in Form der Knowledge Extraction Workbench zu implementieren. Diese IEAnwendung arbeitet im Kontext des auf der SEASALT-Architektur aufbauenden Projektes docQuery. Die Realisierung dieser IE-Anwendung wird dokumentiert sowie die Extraktionsergebnisse der Anwendung hinsichtlich ihres Umfanges und ihrer Qualität evaluiert.
