    Develops frameworks to help Internet media designers address end user information presentation preferences by advancing structures for assessing metadata design variables. Design variables are then linked to user cognitive styles. An underlying theme is that artificial intelligence methodologies may be used to help automate the Internet media design process and to provide personalized and customized experiences. User preferences concerning knowledge acquisition in online experiences provide the basis for discussions of cognitive analysis, and are extended into structural implications for media design and interaction

    Colours, icons, graphics, hypertext links and other multimedia elements are variables that affect information search strategies and information seeking behaviour. These variables are culturally constructed and represented and are subject to individual and community interpretation. Hypothesizes that users in different communities (in intercultural or multicultural context) will interpret differently the meanings of the multimedia objects on the Internet.     In diesem Beitrag wird anhand praktischer Beispiele von Internet-Angeboten aufgezeigt wie weitgehend und umfassend Informations-Design bei der Formung von multimedialen Kommunikationslösungen beteiligt ist und welche Aspekte dabei wichtig sind. Es werden konzeptionell-strategische Gesamtaspekte beleuchtet und funktional-optisch wichtige Details aufgezeigt. Die Bedeutung von Informations-Design für die Oualität von vor allem elektronischen Publikationen und Anwendungen wird im Hinblick auf den Anwendernutzen dargestellt.
