- Abstract
- Das Buch Semantic Web Grundlagen vermittelt als erstes deutschsprachiges Lehrbuch die Grundlagen des Semantic Web in verständlicher Weise. Es ermöglicht einen einfachen und zügigen Einstieg in Methoden und Technologien des Semantic Web und kann z.B. als solide Grundlage für die Vorbereitung und Durchführung von Vorlesungen genutzt werden. Die Autoren trennen dabei sauber zwischen einer intuitiven Hinführung zur Verwendung semantischer Technologien in der Praxis einerseits, und der Erklärung formaler und theoretischer Hintergründe andererseits. Nur für letzteres werden Grundkenntnisse in Logik vorausgesetzt, die sich bei Bedarf jedoch durch zusätzliche Lektüre und mit Hilfe eines entsprechenden Kapitels im Anhang aneignen lassen.Das Lehrbuch richtet sich primär an Studenten mit Grundkenntnissen in Informatik sowie an interessierte Praktiker welche sich im Bereich Semantic Web fortbilden möchten.

- Abstract
- Ein Grundproblem der rechnergestützten Erstellung, Bearbeitung und Archivierung von Dokumenten ist die unzureichende Wiedergabe von Inhalt und Struktur durch die heute verbreiteten Dokumentformate und Seitenbeschreibungssprachen. Die Standard Generalized Markup Language löst dieses Problem druch die präzise und flexible Beschreibung der Struktur von Dokumenten. SGML ermöglicht dadurch die vielseitige Nutzung der in Dokumenten enthaltenen Information für elektronische Publikationen, Hypertext-Systeme, Online-Dokumente, aber auch für die klassischen Formen der Publikation in Buch, Zeitschrift und Loseblattwerk. Darüber hinaus dient der ISO-Standard SGML als Austauschformat in heterogenen DV-Umgebungen. - LINUX ist ein auf PCs lauffähiges Betriebssystem, welches UNIX sehr ähnlich ist. LINUX-Distributionen, in welchen der LINUX-Betriebssystemkern, zahlreiche Applikationen, UNIX-Basisprogramme sowie komplette Anwendungspakete enthalten sind, stehen in verschiedenen sehr preisgünstigen Varianten zur Verfügung. Der Autor gibt praxisorientiert eine Einführung in LINUX, die schwerpunktmäßig die Themenkreise Programme und Prozesse, Dateien und Dateisysteme, dateiorientierte Kommandos, Editoren, Shell-Programmierung, vernetzte Systeme und die X-Windows-Oberfläche behandelt. Die kompakte Darstellung geht auch auf konzeptionelle Hintergründe ein und stützt sich auf instruktive Beispiele. Auf eine Berücksichtigung sämtlicher in LINUX-Distributionen enthaltenen Werkzeuge muß aus Platzgründen verzichtet werden. Nachweis weiterführender Literatur; umfangreiches Stichwortregister. Bei aufmerksamer Lektüre ist das Buch auch Einsteigern zugänglich. Zum Selbststudium gut geeignet.

Dieses Versprechen lösen Angie Radtke und Michael Charlier mit einer DemoWeb-Site für die fiktive Gemeinde BadSeendorf (Internet, URL http://www.badseendorf.de) ein. Dort werden einander zwei Versionen gegenübergestellt, wobei der Ausgangspunkt ein barrierebehaftetes Design ist, das durch eine barrierearme Version ersetzt wird. Diese beiden Beispiele wären für sich genommen bereits sehr hilfreich bei der Auseinandersetzung mit dem Thema Barrierefreiheit. In Kombination mit dem zugehörigen Buch haben Radtke und Charlier eine umfassende Einführung geschaffen, die sowohl für die eigenständige Einarbeitung in die Thematik als auch für die Verwendung in der Lehre sehr geeignet ist. In einem knappen theoretisch ausgerichteten Grundlagenteil werden Fragen behandelt wie beispielsweise was Barrierefreiheit ist und wem sie nützt, warum Zugänglichkeit und ansprechendes Design kein Widerspruch sind und welche gesetzlichen Vorgaben gelten. Im Mittelpunkt des umfangreichen Praxisteils steht die genannte Web-Site der fiktiven Gemeinde Bad-Seendorf. Ausgehend von dem barrierebehafteten Design werden an konkreten Beispielen die Probleme bestimmter Nutzergruppen analysiert, zu denen neben den üblicherweise dargestellten Betroffenen auch die Altersgruppe 50plus zählt, die häufig vernachlässigt wird. Weiterhin wird in einzelnen Kapiteln eine Analyse von Barrieren durchgeführt, sowie Maßnahmen zur gezielten Vermeidung von Zugangsblockaden und Zugangserschwernissen aufgezeigt, wobei auch auf multimediale Inhalte und Sonderfälle wie PDF, Flash, und Videos in Deutscher Gebärdensprache eingegangen wird. Eine kurze Beschreibung des Einsatzes von Content-Management-Systemen für barrierefreie Web-Angebote legt den Schwerpunkt auf die Systeme Joomla! und TYPO3.
