    Abstract
    Das wachsende Informationsvolumen im WWW führt paradoxerweise zu einer immer schwierigeren Nutzung, das Finden und Verknüpfen von Informationen in einem unstrukturierten Umfeld wird zur Sisyphosarbeit. Hier versprechen Semantic-Web-Ansätze Abhilfe. Die Autoren beschreiben Technologien, wie eine semantische Integration verteilter Daten durch verteilte Ontologien erreicht werden kann. Diese Techniken sind sowohl für Forscher als auch für Professionals interessant, die z.B. die Integration von Produktdaten aus verteilten Datenbanken im WWW oder von lose miteinander verbunden Anwendungen in verteilten Organisationen implementieren sollen.

    Abstract
    Das Buch Semantic Web Grundlagen vermittelt als erstes deutschsprachiges Lehrbuch die Grundlagen des Semantic Web in verständlicher Weise. Es ermöglicht einen einfachen und zügigen Einstieg in Methoden und Technologien des Semantic Web und kann z.B. als solide Grundlage für die Vorbereitung und Durchführung von Vorlesungen genutzt werden. Die Autoren trennen dabei sauber zwischen einer intuitiven Hinführung zur Verwendung semantischer Technologien in der Praxis einerseits, und der Erklärung formaler und theoretischer Hintergründe andererseits. Welche Technologie steckt dahinter, und wie lässt sich diese für individuelle Zwecke einsetzen? Diese Frage beantwortet Johannes Gamperl in "AJAX. Web 2.0 in der Praxis", weiches im Galileo Verlag erschienen ist. Das Zauberwort hinter Web 2.0 heißt AJAX. AJAX heißt "asynchron javascript and xml" und deutet an, woraus diese neue Programmier-Technik besteht: aus bereits vorhandenen und gut eingeführten Sprachen wie JavaScript und XML. Die Grundlagen sind nicht neu, doch die kreative Art ihrer Verwendung macht sie zur Zukunftstechnologie im Web schlechthin. Mit AJAX lassen sich Daten im Hintergrund und ohne ein neuerliches Laden einer Webseite übertragen. Das hat wesentliche Vorteile, denn so können Webseiten fortlaufend und interaktiv aktualisiert werden. Das Buch vermittelt auf rund 400 Seiten Einblicke in die fortgeschrittene JavaScript Programmierung im Hinblick auf AJAX und das Web. Schritt für Schritt werden Beispiele aufgebaut, Techniken erläutert und eigene Kreationen gefördert. Allerdings ist das Buch kein Einsteigerbuch. Es wendet sich dezidiert an Programmierer, die über entsprechende Erfahrung mit JavaScript und XML verfügen. Die Kernthemen des Buches beinhalten - die Grundlagen des Document Object Model - die dynamische Bearbeitung von StyleSheet Angaben - den Zugriff auf XML-Daten über JavaScript - die Einführung in die Client/Server-Kommunikation - diverse JavaScript Bibliotheken Ergänzt werden diese Themen durch eine Reihe von Anwendungsbeispielen, die übersichtlich entwickelt und beschrieben werden. Eine CD mit dem Code liegt dem Buch bei. Weitere Unterstützung bieten diverse WebQuellen des Verlags und des Autors. Bekannte Beispiele für in AJAX programmierte Anwendungen sind Google Maps und Yahoo! Maps.     Abstract
    Das Internet mit seinen ständig neuen Usern und seinem extremen Wachstum bringt viele neue Herausforderungen mit sich. Aufgrund dieses Wachstums bedienen sich die meisten Leute der Hilfe von Suchmaschinen um Inhalte innerhalb des Internet zu finden. Suchmaschinen nutzen für die Beantwortung der User-Anfragen Information Retrieval Techniken. Problematisch ist nur, dass traditionelle Information Retrieval (IR) Systeme für eine relativ kleine und zusammenhängende Sammlung von Dokumenten entwickelt wurden. Das Internet hingegen unterliegt einem ständigen Wachstum, schnellen Änderungsraten und es ist über geographisch verteilte Computer verteilt. Aufgrund dieser Tatsachen müssen die alten Techniken erweitert oder sogar neue IRTechniken entwickelt werden. Eine Suchmaschine die diesen Herausforderungen vergleichsweise erfolgreich entgegnet ist Google. Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es aufzuzeigen, wie Suchmaschinen funktionieren. Der Fokus liegt dabei auf der Suchmaschine Google. Kapitel 2 wird sich zuerst mit dem Aufbau von Suchmaschinen im Allgemeinen beschäftigen, wodurch ein grundlegendes Verständnis für die einzelnen Komponenten geschaffen werden soll. Im zweiten Teil des Kapitels wird darauf aufbauend ein Überblick über die Architektur von Google gegeben. Kapitel 3 und 4 dienen dazu, näher auf die beiden Komponenten Crawler und Indexer einzugehen, bei denen es sich um zentrale Elemente im Rahmen von Suchmaschinen handelt.

Dieses Versprechen lösen Angie Radtke und Michael Charlier mit einer DemoWeb-Site für die fiktive Gemeinde BadSeendorf (Internet, URL http://www.badseendorf.de) ein. Dort werden einander zwei Versionen gegenübergestellt, wobei der Ausgangspunkt ein barrierebehaftetes Design ist, das durch eine barrierearme Version ersetzt wird. Diese beiden Beispiele wären für sich genommen bereits sehr hilfreich bei der Auseinandersetzung mit dem Thema Barrierefreiheit. In Kombination mit dem zugehörigen Buch haben Radtke und Charlier eine umfassende Einführung geschaffen, die sowohl für die eigenständige Einarbeitung in die Thematik als auch für die Verwendung in der Lehre sehr geeignet ist. Im Mittelpunkt des umfangreichen Praxisteils steht die genannte Web-Site der fiktiven Gemeinde Bad-Seendorf. Ausgehend von dem barrierebehafteten Design werden an konkreten Beispielen die Probleme bestimmter Nutzergruppen analysiert, zu denen neben den üblicherweise dargestellten Betroffenen auch die Altersgruppe 50plus zählt, die häufig vernachlässigt wird. Weiterhin wird in einzelnen Kapiteln eine Analyse von Barrieren durchgeführt, sowie Maßnahmen zur gezielten Vermeidung von Zugangsblockaden und Zugangserschwernissen aufgezeigt, wobei auch auf multimediale Inhalte und Sonderfälle wie PDF, Flash, und Videos in Deutscher Gebärdensprache eingegangen wird.
