    Abstract
    Die Datenbank basierte Objektartenbeschreibung dient zur eigenschaftsbasierten Aufnahme aller Objektarten der Kataloge BNTK, CLC; GMES M 2.1, ATKIS und des DeCOVER Vorschlags. Das Ziel der Datenbankanwendung besteht in der 'manuellen' Beziehungsauswertung und Darstellung der gesamten Objektarten bezogen auf die erstellte Wissensrepräsentation. Anhand einer hierarchisch strukturierten Wissensrepräsentation lassen sich mit Ontologien Überführungen von Objektarten verwirklichen, die im Sinne der semantischen Interoperabilität als Zielstellung in dem Verbundprojekt DeCOVER besteht.

    Algorithmen sind Rezepte, aus denen Computerprogramme entstehen. Es gibt keine Software ohne Algorithmen. Je eleganter ein Algorithmus ist, desto weniger Rechenpower benötigt er, um zum Ziel zu kommen. Algorithmen können allerdings teuer sein - und die Nachfrage zur Lösung neuer und alter Probleme ist riesig.

Dies reicht von Fragen der Wahmehmbarkeit (Textäquivalente für Audio- und visuelle Inhalte, Schrift und Farbe) über generelle Aspekte der Bedienbarkeit (Orientierung und Navigation, Frames, eingebettete Benutzerschnittstellen, Formulare) und der allgemeinen Verständlichkeit (Sprache, Abkürzungen, Akronyme) bis zur Einhaltung von Standards (W3C unterstützte Formate, Einhaltung von Markup-Standards, Rückwärtskompatibilität, Geräteunabhängigkeit, Kompatibilität mit assistiven Technologien). Im Abschnitt 4 wird die Kommunikation im Internet betrachtet, wobei vor allem auf Fragen des E-Mail-Verkehrs und der Sicherheit eingegangen wird, Aspekte die für alle Internet-Benutzer interessant sind. Im Abschnitt 5 wird dargestellt, wie Internet-Seiten auf Barrierefreiheit geprüft werden können.     Abstract
    Der Fachinformationsdienst (FID) Pharmazie verfolgt das Ziel, die Informationsinfrastruktur und die Literaturversorgung für die pharmazeutische Hochschulforschung nachhaltig zu verbessern. Das Projekt wird seit dem 1. Januar 2015 von der Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft gefördert. Eine Besonderheit stellt die Kooperation zwischen der Universitätsbibliothek Braunschweig und dem Institut für Informationssysteme (IfIS) der TU Braunschweig dar, wodurch aktuelle Forschung auf dem Gebiet der Informatik in die Implementierung innovativer FID-Dienste mündet. Im Zentrum des Projektes steht der nutzerzentrierte Aufbau einer erweiterbaren und personalisierbaren Informationsinfrastruktur. Das vom FID entwickelte Discovery System "PubPharm" zur pharmaziespezifischen Recherche basiert, als Weiterentwicklung des beluga-Systems der SUB Hamburg, auf der Open Source Software VuFind. Als Datengrundlage enthält es u.a. die Medline Daten, erweitert durch Normdaten, die unter anderem die Suche nach chemischen Strukturen erlauben. Gleichzeitig werden vom Institut für Informationssysteme innovative Suchmöglichkeiten basierend auf Narrativer Intelligenz untersucht und perspektivisch in das Retrieval des Discovery Systems eingebunden. Im Rahmen von sog. FID-Lizenzen bietet der FID Pharmazie Wissenschaftlern/innen Volltextzugriff auf pharmazeutische Fachzeitschriften. Bestandteil der Lizenzen ist das Recht zur Langzeitarchivierung. Bei deren technischer Umsetzung kooperiert der FID mit der TIB Hannover. Der FID Pharmazie koppelt seine Aktivitäten eng an die pharmazeutische Fachcommunity: unter anderem begleitet ein Fachbeirat die Entwicklungen. Im Rahmen der Öffentlichkeitsarbeit werden Nutzer/innen umfassend über die Angebote informiert, u.a. in Webcasts und im PubPharm Blog.

    Abstract
    Den drei an der Technischen Universität in Wien forschenden Informatikern Mathias Lechner, Radu Grosu und Ramin Hasani ist es gelungen, das Nervensystem des Fadenwurm Caenorhabditis elegans (C. elegans) als Software in einen Computer zu übertragen und nachzuweisen, dass der "hochgeladene" virtuelle Wurm auf Reize genau so reagiert wie ein echter Nematodenwurm auf echte Reize in der Realität. Dafür ließen sie ihn eine Aufgabe bewältigen, die Hasani zufolge dem Balancieren eines Stabes ähnelt.

    Abstract
    Die bibliothekarische Ausbildung in Leipzig blickt auf eine über hundertjährige Geschichte zurück - ein Zeitraum, in dem Bibliotheken tiefgreifende Veränderungen erfahren haben. Der Übergang von der Thekenbücherei zur Freihandbibliothek beispielsweise erzwang Anpassungen in Organisation und Arbeitsabläufen, definierte das Verhältnis zwischen Bibliothek und Nutzer neu und wirkte sich letztlich auch auf die Bibliotheksbestände aus. Einschnitte dieser Art werden auch im Zusammenhang mit der Umbruchsituation diskutiert, in der wir uns derzeit befinden: der Digitalisierung. Ihre Auswirkungen sind noch nicht klar abzusehen, wodurch die bibliothekarische Hochschulbildung vor neue Herausforderungen gestellt wird.

Bekannte von ihm verfasste Bücher sind "Leben als Maschine? - Von der Systembiologie zur Robotik und Künstlichen Intelligenz", "Der kreative Zufall - Wie das Neue in die Welt kommt" und "Komplexe Systeme und Nichtlineare Dynamik in Natur und Gesellschaft". 2014 erschien sein bislang jüngstes Werk "Die Berechnung der Welt - Von der Weltformel bis zu Big Data". Im Gespräch mit Reinhard Jellen bekennt er sich dazu, Grundlagen erklären zu wollen, und beklagt, dass Mathematiklehrer heute häufig keine Ahnung mehr von Physik haben.

    Eckpunkte der Argumentation: "Insbesondere folgende Eckpunkte sieht die Gesellschaft für Informatik als entscheidend für die digitale Souveränität der Schülerinnen und Schüler, der Schulen sowie des IT-Standortes an: 1. Rechtskonforme, datenschutzgerechte Lösungen etablieren. 2. Digitale Souveränität (Transparenz, Unabhängigkeit und Sicherheit) durch Open-Source-Software fördern. 3. Lock-In-Effekte vermeiden. 4. Bereitstellung notwendiger Ressourcen.     Abstract
    Zu den Qualitätsanforderungen von Normdateien als Wissensorganisationssysteme gehört neben der eindeutigen Bestimmung des Begriffsumfangs einzelner Konzepte, der konsistenten terminologischen Kontrolle und Anreicherung durch Synonyme auch die Aktualität und Wissenschaftsnähe der Terminologie. Bereits in der sich in der BRD seit den 1970er-Jahren entwickelnden Frauenforschung spielte der Begriff "Geschlecht" eine zentrale Rolle. Der in den 1990er-/2000er-Jahren hier entstehenden Geschlechterforschung gab er ihren Namen.Seit dieser Zeit ist auch der Fachbegriff "Gender" aus der angloamerikanischen Forschung in der deutschen Geschlechterforschung/Gender Studies zur zentralen Kategorie geworden. In der GND ist er als eigenständiger Sachbegriff bisher nicht vorhanden.Da (nicht nur) die Geschlechterforschung/Gender Studies das Schlagwort Gender zur Beschlagwortung ihrer Fachliteratur benötigt, schlagen wir seine Aufnahme in die GND vor.

    Abstract
    Durch den neuen Erschließungsstandard "Resource Description and Access" (RDA) lassen sich bibliografische Daten sowie Normdaten Semantic-Web-konform repräsentieren. Der Vortrag soll aufzeigen, welche Auswirkungen RDA auf die Katalogisierung in Bibliotheken und den Zugang zu den erschlossenen Ressourcen im Semantic Web hat. Anhand erster Erfahrungen aus praktischen Umsetzungen wird erläutert, wie bibliografische Daten durch RDA und Linked-Data-Technologien besser zugänglich gemacht und vor allem nachgenutzt werden können.

    Abstract
    Im vorliegenden Beitrag wird zum einen erläutert, wie die Pfingstbewegung in den neun gedruckten Ausgaben der Dewey-Dezimalklassifikation, die diesen Begriff im Register aufführen, jeweils behandelt wird - beginnend mit der 15. Auflage von 1951 bis zur jüngsten, der 23. Auflage von 2011. Es werden Probleme mit der Charakterisierung der Pfingstbewegung herausgearbeitet - insbesondere, dass sie als ein Amerika-zentriertes und rassisch homogenes Phänomen dargestellt wird. Dies verhindert eine soziohistorisch akkurate Repräsentation der Pfingstbewegung als einer geografisch und rassisch vielfältigen religiösen Tradition innerhalb von Bibliotheksbeständen, die nach der weltweit am meisten verbreiteten Klassifikation organisiert sind. Zum anderen werden Empfehlungen zur Reklassifikation der Pfingstbewegung in der Dewey-Dezimalklassifikation gegeben, die zu einer korrekteren soziohistorischen Repräsentation beitragen und dadurch auch den Zugang zur großen Bandbreite von Literatur über diese globale und diverse religiöse Tradition verbessern würden.
