    Abstract
    Vorgestellt wird die Konstruktion eines thematisch geordneten Thesaurus auf Basis der Sachschlagwörter der Gemeinsamen Normdatei (GND) unter Nutzung der darin enthaltenen DDC-Notationen. Oberste Ordnungsebene dieses Thesaurus werden die DDC-Sachgruppen der Deutschen Nationalbibliothek. Die Konstruktion des Thesaurus erfolgt regelbasiert unter der Nutzung von Linked Data Prinzipien in einem SPARQL Prozessor. Der Thesaurus dient der automatisierten Gewinnung von Metadaten aus wissenschaftlichen Publikationen mittels eines computerlinguistischen Extraktors. Hierzu werden digitale Volltexte verarbeitet. Dieser ermittelt die gefundenen Schlagwörter über Vergleich der Zeichenfolgen Benennungen im Thesaurus, ordnet die Treffer nach Relevanz im Text und gibt die zugeordne-ten Sachgruppen rangordnend zurück. Die grundlegende Annahme dabei ist, dass die gesuchte Sachgruppe unter den oberen Rängen zurückgegeben wird. In einem dreistufigen Verfahren wird die Leistungsfähigkeit des Verfahrens validiert. Hierzu wird zunächst anhand von Metadaten und Erkenntnissen einer Kurzautopsie ein Goldstandard aus Dokumenten erstellt, die im Online-Katalog der DNB abrufbar sind. Die Dokumente vertei-len sich über 14 der Sachgruppen mit einer Losgröße von jeweils 50 Dokumenten. Sämtliche Dokumente werden mit dem Extraktor erschlossen und die Ergebnisse der Kategorisierung do-kumentiert. Schließlich wird die sich daraus ergebende Retrievalleistung sowohl für eine harte (binäre) Kategorisierung als auch eine rangordnende Rückgabe der Sachgruppen beurteilt.

    Abstract
    Werden Maschinen mit Begriffen beschrieben, die ursprünglich der Beschreibung des Menschen dienen, so liegt zunächst der Verdacht nahe, dass jene Maschinen spezifischmenschliche Fähigkeiten oder Eigenschaften besitzen. Für körperliche Fähigkeiten, die mechanisch nachgeahmt werden, hat sich in der Alltagssprache eine anthropomorphisierende Sprechweise bereits etabliert. So wird kaum in Frage gestellt, dass bestimmte Maschinen weben, backen, sich bewegen oder arbeiten können. Bei nichtkörperlichen Eigenschaften, etwa kognitiver, sozialer oder moralischer Art sieht dies jedoch anders aus. Dass mittlerweile intelligente und rechnende Maschinen im alltäglichen Sprachgebrauch Eingang gefunden haben, wäre jedoch undenkbar ohne den langjährigen Diskurs über Künstliche Intelligenz, welcher insbesondere die zweite Hälfte des vergangenen Jahrhunderts geprägt hat. In jüngster Zeit ist es der Autonomiebegriff, welcher zunehmend Verwendung zur Beschreibung neuer Technologien findet, wie etwa "autonome mobile Roboter" oder "autonome Systeme". Dem Begriff nach rekurriert die "Autonomie" jener Technologien auf eine bestimmte Art technologischen Fortschritts, die von der Fähigkeit zur Selbstgesetzgebung herrührt. Dies wirft aus philosophischer Sicht jedoch die Frage auf, wie die Selbstgesetzgebung in diesem Fall definiert ist, zumal sich der Autonomiebegriff in der Philosophie auf die politische oder moralische Selbstgesetzgebung von Menschen oder Menschengruppen beziehungsweise ihre Handlungen bezieht. Im Handbuch Robotik hingegen führt der Autor geradezu beiläufig die Bezeichnung "autonom" ein, indem er prognostiziert, dass "[.] autonome Roboter in Zukunft sogar einen Großteil der Altenbetreuung übernehmen werden."

    Abstract
    Die beiden Leitbegriffe des Titels - Buchtitel zugleich einschlägiger Werke - bezeichnen eine Alternative in der frühneuzeitlichen Speicherung und Vermittlung von Wissen: die möglichst umfassende Thesaurierung überkommener Wissensbestände beziehungsweise ihre kritische Sichtung und Auswahl unter bestimmten Relevanzgesichtspunkten. Der eine Titel stammt von dem Zürcher Polyhistor Konrad Gessner, der andere von dem Jesuiten Antonio Possevino. Voraussetzung beider Unternehmen ist der Buchdruck, der etwa hundert Jahre nach seiner Erfindung in bis dahin unerhörtem Ausmaß Schrifttradition zugänglich gemacht hat, aber durch die schiere Quantität zunehmend Strategien zu ihrer Sicherung und Nutzbarmachung verlangt. Der Bibliotheca universalis wie der Bibliotheca selecta geht es um Orientierung in einem immer unübersichtlicheren Bestand schriftlich tradierten Wissens, der den Wissensfortschritt zu behindern droht. Beide haben also nicht wissenschaftliche Erkenntnis selbst, sondern ihre Vermittlung zum Ziel, und sie wollen kein System des Wißbaren entwerfen, sondern auf der Basis hergebrachter Ordnungen des Wissens den Leser dazu anleiten, sich in jenem Bestand zurechtzufinden. Es ist ein erster Vorzug dieser Münchner Dissertation, daß sie dieses Problem rekonstruiert, so daß das frühneuzeitliche Projekt der Bibliothek nicht mehr am falschen Maßstab der Enzyklopädie als Summe des Wißbaren gemessen wird.

    "Die vorliegende Arbeit befasst sich mit den Methoden und Verfahren bei der Archivierung von Internetressourcen. Ziel ist es, anhand einer vergleichenden Beschreibung zweier zur Zeit aktiver, bzw. im Aufbau befindlicher Projekte, die Grundprobleme dieser speziellen Art der Archivierung darzustellen und deren unterschiedliche Vorgehensweisen beim Aufbau des Archivs zu beschreiben und zu vergleichen. Daraus erfolgt eine Diskussion über grundsätzliche Fragestellungen zu diesem Thema. Hierzu ist es vonnöten, zuerst auf das besondere Medium Internet, insbesondere auf das World Wide Web (WWW), einzugehen, sowie dessen Geschichte und Entstehung zu betrachten. Weiterhin soll ein besonderes Augenmerk auf die Datenmenge, die Datenstruktur und die Datentypen (hier vor allem im World Wide Web) gelegt werden. Da die daraus entstehenden Probleme für Erschließung und Retrieval, die Qualität und die Fluktuation der Angebote im Web eine wichtige Rolle im Rahmen der Archivierung von Internetressourcen darstellen, werden diese gesondert mittels kurzer Beschreibungen bestimmter Instrumente und Projekte zur Lösung derselben beschrieben. Hier finden insbesondere Suchmaschinen und Webkataloge, deren Arbeitsweise und Aufbau besondere Beachtung. Weiterhin sollen die "Virtuelle Bibliothek" und das "Dublin Core"- Projekt erläutert werden. Auf dieser Basis wird dann speziell auf das allgemeine Thema der Archivierung von Internetressourcen eingegangen. Ihre Grundgedanken und ihre Ziele sollen beschrieben und erste Diskussionsfragen und Diskrepanzen aufgezeigt werden. Ein besonderes Augenmerk gilt hier vor allem den technischen und rechtlichen Problemen, sowie Fragen des Jugendschutzes und der Zugänglichkeit zu mittlerweile verbotenen Inhalten. Einzelne Methoden der Archivierung, die vor allem im folgenden Teil anhand von Beispielen Beachtung finden, werden kurz vorgestellt. Im darauf folgenden Teil werden zwei Archivierungsprojekte detailliert beschrieben und analysiert. Einem einführenden Überblick über das jeweilige Projekt, folgen detaillierte Beschreibungen zu Projektverlauf, Philosophie und Vorgehensweise. Die Datenbasis und das Angebot, sowie die Funktionalitäten werden einer genauen Untersuchung unterzogen. Stärken und Schwächen werden genannt, und wenn möglich, untereinander verglichen. Hier ist vor allem auch die Frage von Bedeutung, ob das Angebot a) den Ansprüchen und Zielsetzungen des Anbieters genügt, und ob es b) den allgemeinen Grundfragen der Archivierung von Internetressourcen gleichkommt, die in Kapitel 3 genannt worden sind. Auf Basis aller Teile soll dann abschließend der derzeitige Stand im Themengebiet diskutiert werden. Die Arbeit schließt mit einer endgültigen Bewertung und alternativen Lösungen."

    Abstract
    Die Arbeit widmet sich dem Thema kartographische Materialien. Sie konzentriert sich auf die Erschließung von Karten, schwerpunktmäßig die inhalt-liche Erschließung durch Thesauri. Dazu wird im Laufe der Arbeit ein eigenes Konzept vorgestellt. Das Werk geht der Frage nach, ob die Sacherschließung mit Thesauri zur Verbesserung der inhaltlichen Erschließung beiträgt. Um dem Leser Hintergrundwissen über die Erschließung von Karten darzubieten, stellt sie zunächst zwei Regelwerke vor, die sich mit der formalen Erschließung beschäftigen und eines, das sich auf die Sacherschließung im Allgemeinen bezieht. Hier werden die für Karten wichtigen Aspekte herausgearbeitet. Daneben beschreibt die Arbeit zwei Kartensammlungen aus deutschen Bibliotheken, um zu zeigen wie Karten in der Praxis erschlossen und dargestellt werden. Es folgt die Vorstellung des entworfenen Konzepts, das schließlich in einem Praxisbeispiel Anwendung findet.

    Abstract
    Die vorliegende Arbeit beschäftigt sich mit der ethnologischen Terminologie in der Schlagwortnormdatei und zeigt dabei grundsätzliche Probleme der verbalen Sacherschließung und der SWD im Allgemeinen sowie der ethnologischen Terminologie im Besonderen auf. Ausgehend von den Suchbedarfen der Benutzer/innen, die anhand der Kernthemen von Völkerkunde und Volkskunde abgesteckt werden, wird gefragt, inwieweit die ethnologische Terminologie in der SWD diese Bedürfnisse erfüllen kann. Dabei wird festgestellt, dass die Sachgruppen der SWD die Ethnologien auf die Erforschung des weit Entfernten oder des Vergangenen beschränken und ethnologische Forschungen z.B. zum kulturellen Wandel, zu Migration oder zu städtischem Leben durch die SWD schlecht abgebildet werden. Problematisch für die Suche nach ethnologischer Literatur ist auch die unzureichende Relationierung von Schlagwörtern sowie besonders das Fehlen von Top Terms, von denen aus eine immer feiner werdende Suche möglich würde. Als erste Schritte zur Verbesserung der ethnologischen Terminologie schlägt die Arbeit einige Top Terms vor und zeigt vollständige Relationierungen beispielhaft auf.

    Abstract
    Diese Arbeit möchte im Zusammenhang mit dem Übersetzungsprojekt "Dewey Decimal Classification Deutsch" eine Einführung zur Entstehung, Anwendung, Struktur und Erscheinungsweise des amerikanischen Originals geben. Zunächst werden einige grundlegende Begriffe der allgemeinen Klassifikationslehre erläutert. Anschließend werden Funktion und Bedeutung von Klassifikationen für den Bibliotheks- und Dokumentationsbereich skizziert. Im dritten Kapitel wird dann ausführlich auf die Dewey Decimal Classification eingegangen, bevor im letzten Kapitel dargestellt wird, welche Ziele mit dem Projekt "DDC Deutsch" verfolgt werden und welche Schwierigkeiten und Herausforderungen mit der Übersetzung verbunden sind. Die Arbeit schließt mit einem Ausblick auf die Möglichkeiten, die sich für das Bibliotheks- und Dokumentationswesen in Deutschland durch eine Übersetzung der Dewey Decimal Classification eröffnen.

    Abstract
    Die auf Basis vernetzter Computer realisierbare Möglichkeit einer universalen Enzyklopädie führt aufgrund der dabei technisch notwendigen Reduktion auf nur eine Sorte Repräsentanten zu Systemen, bei denen entweder nur Gegenstände repräsentiert werden, die auch Begriffe vertreten, oder nur Begriffe, die auch Gegenstände vertreten. In der Dissertation werden als Beispiele solcher Repräsentationssysteme die logischen Systeme von Gottlob Frege und Johann Heinrich Lambert untersucht. Freges System, basierend auf der Annahme der Objektivität von Bedeutungen, war durch die Nachweisbarkeit einer Antinomie gescheitert, weshalb von Philosophen im 20. Jahrhundert die Existenz einer objektiven Bedeutung von Ausdrücken und die Übersetzbarkeit der Gedanken aus den natürlichen Sprachen in eine formale Sprache in Frage gestellt wurde. In der Dissertation wird nachgewiesen, daß diese Konsequenz voreilig war und daß die Antinomie auch bei Annahme der Objektivität von Wissen erst durch zwei Zusatzforderungen in Freges Logik ausgelöst wird: die eineindeutige Zuordnung eines Gegenstands zu jedem Begriff sowie die scharfen Begrenzung der Begriffe, die zur Abgeschlossenheit des Systems zwingt. Als Alternative wird das Begriffssystem Lamberts diskutiert, bei dem jeder Gegenstand durch einen Begriff und gleichwertig durch Gesamtheiten von Begriffen vertreten wird und Begriffe durch Gesamtheiten von Begriffen ersetzbar sind. Beide die Antinomie auslösenden Bedingungen sind hier nicht vorhanden, zugleich ist die fortschreitende Entwicklung von Wissen repräsentierbar. Durch die mengentheoretische Rekonstruktion des Begriffssystems Lamberts in der Dissertation wird dessen praktische Nutzbarkeit gezeigt. Resultat der Dissertation ist der Nachweis, daß es Repräsentationssysteme gibt, die nicht auf die für die Prüfung der Verbindlichkeit der Einträge in die Enzyklopädie notwendige Annahme der Verobjektivierbarkeit von Wissen verzichten müssen, weil ihnen nicht jene die Antinomie auslösenden Voraussetzungen zugrunde liegen.

    Abstract
    In einem Labor-Experiment wurden insgesamt achtzehn Studenten und Studentinnen mit zwei offenen Web-Rechercheaufgaben konfrontiert. Während deren Bewältigung mit einer Suchmaschine wurden sie per Proxy-Logfile-Protokollierung verdeckt beobachtet. Sie machten demographische und ihre Webnutzungs-Gewohnheiten betreffende Angaben, bewerteten Aufgaben-, Performance- und Suchmaschinen-Eigenschaften in Fragebögen und stellten sich einem Multiple-Choice-Test zu ihrem Wissen über Suchmaschinen. Die Versuchspersonen wurden gezielt angeworben und eingeteilt: in eine erfahrene und eine unerfahrene Untergruppe mit je neun Teilnehmern. Die Untersuchung beruht auf dem Vergleich der beiden Gruppen: Im Zentrum stehen dabei die Lesezeichen, die sie als Lösungen ablegten, ihre Einschätzungen aus den Fragebögen, ihre Suchphrasen sowie die Muster ihrer Suchmaschinen-Interaktion und Navigation in Zielseiten. Diese aus den Logfiles gewonnen sequentiellen Aktionsmuster wurden vergleichend visualisiert, ausgezählt und interpretiert. Zunächst wird das World Wide Web als strukturell und inhaltlich komplexer Informationsraum beschrieben. Daraufhin beleuchtet der Autor die allgemeinen Aufgaben und Typen von Meta-Medienanwendungen, sowie die Komponenten Index-basierter Suchmaschinen. Im Anschluß daran wechselt die Perspektive von der strukturell-medialen Seite hin zu Nutzungsaspekten. Der Autor beschreibt Nutzung von Meta-Medienanwendungen als Ko-Selektion zwischen Nutzer und Suchmaschine auf der Basis von Entscheidungen und entwickelt ein einfaches, dynamisches Phasenmodell. Der Einfluß unterschiedlicher Wissensarten auf den Selektionsprozeß findet hier Beachtung.Darauf aufbauend werden im folgenden Schritt allgemeine Forschungsfragen und Hypothesen für das Experiment formuliert. Dessen Eigenschaften sind das anschließende Thema, wobei das Beobachtungsinstrument Logfile-Analyse, die Wahl des Suchdienstes, die Formulierung der Aufgaben, Ausarbeitung der Fragebögen und der Ablauf im Zentrum stehen. Im folgenden präsentiert der Autor die Ergebnisse in drei Schwerpunkten: erstens in bezug auf die Performance - was die Prüfung der Hypothesen erlaubt - zweitens in bezug auf die Bewertungen, Kommentare und Suchphrasen der Versuchspersonen und drittens in bezug auf die visuelle und rechnerische Auswertung der Suchmuster.     Abstract
    Diese Arbeit besteht im Wesentlichen aus zwei Teilen: Der erste Teil beinhaltet eine Einführung in den Begriff Web 2.0 und in die allgemeinen Rahmenbedingungen der zugehörigen technischen Entwicklungen. Des Weiteren werden exemplarische Techniken vorgestellt, die Web 2.0 zugeschrieben werden können sowie einige beispielhafte Anwendungen. Im zweiten Teil wird die Diskussion um Bibliothek 2.0 aufgegriffen, um anschließend näher auf Web 2.0 Techniken in Bibliothekskatalogen bzw. den OPAC 2.0 einzugehen. Verschiedene Techniken, die im OPAC 2.0 Anwendung finden können, werden diskutiert und zuletzt werden einige beispielhafte OPACs vorgestellt.

    Abstract
    Ziel: Ziel dieser Bachelorarbeit war es, die Übertragbarkeit der allgemeinen Rankingfaktoren, wie sie von Web-Suchmaschinen verwendet werden, auf Discovery-Systeme zu analysieren. Dadurch könnte das bisher hauptsächlich auf dem textuellen Abgleich zwischen Suchanfrage und Dokumenten basierende bibliothekarische Ranking verbessert werden. Methode: Hierfür wurden Faktoren aus den Gruppen Popularität, Aktualität, Lokalität, Technische Faktoren, sowie dem personalisierten Ranking diskutiert. Die entsprechenden Rankingfaktoren wurden nach ihrer Vorkommenshäufigkeit in der analysierten Literatur und der daraus abgeleiteten Wichtigkeit, ausgewählt. Ergebnis: Von den 23 untersuchten Rankingfaktoren sind 14 (61 %) direkt vom Ranking der Web-Suchmaschinen auf das Ranking der Discovery-Systeme übertragbar. Zu diesen zählen unter anderem das Klickverhalten, das Erstellungsdatum, der Nutzerstandort, sowie die Sprache. Sechs (26%) der untersuchten Faktoren sind dagegen nicht übertragbar (z.B. Aktualisierungsfrequenz und Ladegeschwindigkeit). Die Linktopologie, die Nutzungshäufigkeit, sowie die Aktualisierungsfrequenz sind mit entsprechenden Modifikationen übertragbar.
