    Abstract
    Der Beitrag versucht zu zeigen, daß (1) historische Positionen aus der abendländischen Ästhetik durchaus einen anspruchsvollen Beitrag zur gegenwärtigen Multimedia-Debatte leisten können; daß (2) mehr verfügbare Daten nicht unbedingt bessere Informiertheit mit sich bringt; und daß (3) uralte poetische Prinzipien für Multimediaprodukte relevant sein können. Es handelt sich also um ein Plädoyer für eine geisteswissenschaftlich fundierte Multimediaforschung mit historischer Tiefendimension
