    Abstract
    Diskussionen um Datennetze und Informationstechnik drehen sich häufig um kompetentes Handeln. In der Publikation werden Voraussetzungen eines autonomen informationellen Handelns gezeigt: Abstrahieren, Analogien bilden, Plausibilitäten beachten, Schlussfolgern und kreativ sein. Informationelle Kompetenz ist gelebte Informationelle Autonomie. Es lassen sich Konsequenzen für ein zukünftiges Menschenbild in informationstechnischen Umgebungen ziehen.

    Abstract
    In diesem zweiten Teil wird ein formales Modell zur semantischen Interoperabilität als Brücke zwischen formaler Modellierung und intellektueller Interpretation vorgestellt, das ein besseres Verständnis der zentralen Begriffe von semantischer Ähnlichkeit und Verschiedenheit von Begriffen und Klassen, sowohl als elementare Inhaltsentitäten von Dokumentationssprachen als auch als synthetische Repräsentationen von Dokumentinhalten, ermöglichen soll.

    Abstract
    In diesem Beitrag wird ausgehend von einem ungelösten Problem der Informationserschließung ein Modell vorgestellt, das die Methoden und Erfahrungen zur inhaltlichen Dokumenterschließung mittels kognitiv zu interpretierender Dokumentationssprachen mit den Möglichkeiten formaler Wissensrepräsentation verbindet. Die Kernkomponente des Modells besteht aus der Nutzung von Inferenzen entlang der Pfade typisierter Relationen zwischen den in Facetten geordneten Entitäten innerhalb einer Wissensrepräsentation zur Bestimmung von Treffermengen im Rahmen von Retrievalprozessen. Es werden die möglichen Konsequenzen für das Indexieren und Retrieval diskutiert.

    Abstract
    Die Zahl der mathematik-relevanten Publikationn steigt von Jahr zu Jahr an. Referatedienste wie da Zentralblatt MATH und Mathematical Reviews erfassen die bibliographischen Daten, erschließen die Arbeiten inhaltlich und machen sie - heute über Datenbanken, früher in gedruckter Form - für den Nutzer suchbar. Keywords sind ein wesentlicher Bestandteil der inhaltlichen Erschließung der Publikationen. Keywords sind meist keine einzelnen Wörter, sondern Mehrwortphrasen. Das legt die Anwendung linguistischer Methoden und Verfahren nahe. Die an der FH Köln entwickelte Software 'Lingo' wurde für die speziellen Anforderungen mathematischer Texte angepasst und sowohl zum Aufbau eines kontrollierten Vokabulars als auch zur Extraction von Keywords aus mathematischen Publikationen genutzt. Es ist geplant, über eine Verknüpfung von kontrolliertem Vokabular und der Mathematical Subject Classification Methoden für die automatische Klassifikation für den Referatedienst Zentralblatt MATH zu entwickeln und zu erproben.

    Abstract
    Die gegenwärtige Informationswissenschaft ist gekennzeichnet durch den Verlust der Problemlösungs-kompetenz für Zukunftsfragen und eines konstituierenden wissenschaftlichen Methodenkerns. Die Vertreter der Informationswissenschaft und -praxis haben gemessen an ihrem artikulierten Anspruch ein unterentwickeltes Verständnis der von ihnen zu beachtenden Qualitätsstandards. Anders, als in aktuellen Diskussionsverläufen gerne argumentiert wird, liegen wesentliche Ursachen für Rückbau nicht außerhalb, sondern innerhalb der Informationsprofession. Die Informationspraxis und die Information Professionals haben einen maßgeblichen Anteil an diesem Zustand. Es werden Vorschläge zu einer Neuorientierung der Informationswissenschaft gemacht.

    Abstract
    Dieser aus zwei Teilen bestehende Beitrag setzt Methoden der semantischen Wissensrepräsentation in Verbindung zur Gestaltung von Retrievalszenarios für begriffliche Recherchen und insbesondere für die Wissensexploration. Ausgehend von heterogenen Erschließungssituationen werden Konzepte vorgestellt, wie durch Maßnahmen zur Herstellung von Interoperabilität ein Beitrag zur Lösung der Heterogenitätssituation geleistet werden soll. Basierend auf einem, im zweiten Teil vorgestellten, formalen Modell zum besseren Verständnis von semantischer Interoperabilität, wird ein Vorschlag für ein Gesamtsystem entwickelt, das aus einer Kernontologie und lokalisierten semantischen Netzen mit erweitertem Relationenumfang besteht. Die Möglichkeiten zur Recherche und Exploration in einem solchen Gesamtrahmen werden skizziert.

    Abstract
    Das Buch vermittelt Kenntnisse über die Modellierung dokumentbezogener Metadaten durch praktische Aufgabenstellungen, begleitende theoretische Erläuterungen sowie ergänzende Übungen. Als Beispiele dienen Bilddokumente und bibliografische Daten. Es wird vermittelt, wie entsprechende Datenbanken aufgebaut und mit geeigneten Suchumgebungen ausgestattet werden. Es wird dargestellt und praktisch geübt, wie Kenntnisse über die Struktur der Daten zum Import von Fremddaten genutzt werden können. Zielvorstellung ist der Aufbau von Datenbanken zur formalen und inhaltlichen Erschließung und die Gestaltung von Retrievalumgebungen, für bibliografische Daten auch die Erstellung von Bibliografien. Als Methoden zur inhaltlichen Erschließung werden besonders die semantische Strukturierung von Themenfeldern am Beispiel des aspektorientierten Thesaurus-Konzepts und das Automatische Indexieren bibliografischer Daten behandelt. Abgerundet wird die Darstellung durch die Diskussion von Bezügen zum Aufbau relationaler Datenbanken für bibliografische Daten sowie Hintergründe der Zeichencodierung und Ordnungsfragen.

    Abstract
    Wir stellen ein Modell für die Wissensrezeption aus externalisierten Informationsquellen vor. Das Modell beruht auf einem kognitiven Verständnis von Informationsverarbeitung und greift auf Vorstellungen eines Austausches von Information in Kommunikationsvorgängen zurück. Poppers Drei-Welten-Theorie mit ihrer Orientierung an falsifizierbarem wissenschaftlichen Wissen wird erweitert um Searles Konzept der Kollektiven Intentionalität. Dies erlaubt eine konsistente Beschreibung der Externalisierung und Rezeption von Wissen unter Einschluss von Alltagswissen.

    Abstract
    Der Beitrag nimmt aktuelle Entwicklungen im Teilbereich Formalerschließung in Deutschland zum Anlass, eine kritische Reflexion über den Zustand und die Weiterentwicklung des Themenfeldes Erschließung insgesamt anzustellen. Es werden einige historische Beispiele gegeben, die die Ausstrahlung bibliothekarischer Ideen und Problemlösungen auf das allgemeine Leben zeigen. Diese Ausstrahlung wird dem Eindruck entgegen gesetzt, dass sich gegenwärtig der bibliothekarische Berufsstand insbesondere im Bereich informationstechnischer Anwendungen die zu beachtenden fachlichen Standards lieber von anderen vorgeben lässt, als sich selbst um deren Weiterentwicklung zu bemühen.
