    Abstract
    Es wird versucht, quantitative Werte zur Messung der Informationskompetenz von Volkswirtschaften zu entwickeln. Zudem sollen Korrelationen zwischen der Informationskompetenz und der wirtschaftlichen Leistungsfähigkeit darüber Auskunft geben, wie Gesamtwirtschaft und Inforinationswirtschaft eines Landes zusammenhängen. Operationalisierung. "Informationskompetenz" wird durch den Umsatz auf nationalen Business-toBusiness-Märkten operationalisiert. Abgeleitete Größen sind Pro-KopfImport- und Exportvolumen, Informationsproduktion und -konsumtion (insgesamt und pro Kopf) sowie der Anteil der Informationswirtschaft am jeweiligen nationalen Bruttoinlandsprodukt (BIP). Datenbasis. Im Rahmen der "Member States' Study" der Europäischen Kommission wurden für den gesamten Europäischen Wirtschaftsraum (EWR; Staaten der Europäischen Union sowie Norwegen und Island) für die Jahre 1994 und 1997 Umsatzzahlen der 17 Länder erhoben. Diese Zahlen wurden auf Plausibilität überprüft und unserer Fragestellung zugrundegelegt. Ergebnisse. Der Anteil der Informationswirtschaft am BIP ist derart gering (EWR: 0,070% im Jahr 1997), daß er nahezu ignoriert werden kann. Die Korrelation zwischen dem BIP pro Kopf und der Informationskonsumtion pro Kopf ist jedoch äußerst hoch (+0,715 im Jahr 1994 und +0,642 im Jahr 1997), ebenso die Korrelation zwischen BIP pro Kopf und Informationsimport pro Kopf (+0,588 im Jahr 1994 sowie +0,583 im Jahr 1997)

    Abstract
    Mit dem Aufkommen der Wissensgesellschaft wird Information zum Wirtschaftsgut. Digitale Wirtschaftsgüter - Content wie Software - werden entweder selbst vermarktet (z.B. bei kommerziellen Informationsdiensten) oder dienen als Lockangebote für Werbung (z.B. bei Suchmaschinen mit "sponsored links"). Aufgrund der Besonderheiten des vertriebenen Produkts unterscheiden sich die Wettbewerbsstrategien von Informationsanbietern von denen nicht-digitaler Güter. Zu beachten ist zudem der "illegale" Informationsmarkt (Schwarzkopien). Im Zentrum des Buches steht zwar eine ökonomische Analyse des Informationsmarktes, behandelt werden aber auch Informationssoziologie und -politologie, Informationsrecht sowie Informationsethik.

    Abstract
    Betrachtet wird der europäische Entwurf der Informationsgesellschaft in der Folge des EG-Weißbuches von 1993 und der Tagung in Korfu (1994). Es zeigt sich die zentrale Rolle des Informationsengineering. Hier geht es um die Produktion, Speicherung, Verteilung und Abfrage von Informationen. Wirtschaftliche Kennziffern beleuchten den deutschen Informationsmarkt (Online-Datenbanken, CD-ROM, Videotex, professionelle Informationsvermittlung). Die Relevanz elektronischer Informationsdienste für die betriebswirtschaftliche Praxis (Branchen- und Konkurrenzanalysen, Benchmarking) wird anhand von konkreten Beispielrecherchen demonstriert. Elektronische Datenbanken gestatten, die wissenschaftliche Forschung im Rahmen der Wissenschaftsevaluation mittels Publikations- Zitations- oder Themenanalysen zu beschreiben und zu bewerten. Ein Kapitel beschreibt detailliert diejenigen Tätigkeiten, die beim Auf- und Ausbau elektronischer Informationsdienste routinemäßig durchgeführt werden, mit dem Ziel, Qualitätsmerkmale für die Informationstätigkeit abzuleiten. Die Komplexität der Informationstätigkeiten führt u.a. in Bereiche der fuzzy logic und der Informationshermeneutik. Abgeschlossen wird das Buch mit einer 'Anatomie' einer konkreten Datenbank. Beispiel ist die ifo Literaturdatenbank, die erfolgreich bei mehreren Hosts als Online-Datenbank sowie zusätzlich als CD-ROM Datenbank vermarktet wird

    Abstract
    Dimensionen der Zeitschriftenszientometrie sind (1.) die Produktion der Zeitschrift (Artikel, Autoren), (2.) der Inhalt (Themen) (3.) die Rezeption (Leser), (4.) die formale Fachkommunikation (Referenzen, Zitationen) sowie (5.) die Redaktion (Redaktionspolitik, Verlag). Die Zeitschrift "BuB - Forum für Bibliothek und Information" (BuB) wird einer szientometrischen Analyse unterzogen. BuB ist die auflagenstärkste deutschsprachige Zeitschrift des Bibliotheks- und Informationswesens. Innerhalb des Beobachtungszeitraums von 1990 bis 2003 sind 4.297 Beiträge mit insgesamt 6.803 Referenzen intellektuell ausgewertet worden. Im Vergleich zu erwarteten informetrischen Regelmäßigkeiten zeigt BuB bemerkenswerte Besonderheiten: Nicht ein Top-Autor, sondern eine über Jahre hinweg recht homogene Gruppe von Verfassern dominiert die Literaturproduktion bei BuB. Bei den Referenzen zeigt sich eine sehr hohe Konzentration auf die eigene Zeitschrift. BuB gleicht einer Insel, an die nur wenige fremde Informationen angespült werden. Die Halbwertszeit der Referenzen ist mit 2,7 Jahre sehr niedrig, Halbwertszeiten zitierter Monographien sind dabei höher als die der zitierten Zeitschriftenartikel.

Glauben Sie das? Wir waren skeptisch und haben Suchmaschinen und Suchverzeichnisse genau angeschaut.     Abstract
    Die populären Web 2.0-Dienste werden von Prosumern - Produzenten und gleichsam Konsumenten - nicht nur dazu genutzt, Inhalte zu produzieren, sondern auch, um sie inhaltlich zu erschließen. Folksonomies erlauben es dem Nutzer, Dokumente mit eigenen Schlagworten, sog. Tags, zu beschreiben, ohne dabei auf gewisse Regeln oder Vorgaben achten zu müssen. Neben einigen Vorteilen zeigen Folksonomies aber auch zahlreiche Schwächen (u. a. einen Mangel an Präzision). Um diesen Nachteilen größtenteils entgegenzuwirken, schlagen wir eine Interpretation der Tags als natürlichsprachige Wörter vor. Dadurch ist es uns möglich, Methoden des Natural Language Processing (NLP) auf die Tags anzuwenden und so linguistische Probleme der Tags zu beseitigen. Darüber hinaus diskutieren wir Ansätze und weitere Vorschläge (Tagverteilungen, Kollaboration und akteurspezifische Aspekte) hinsichtlich eines Relevance Rankings von getaggten Dokumenten. Neben Vorschlägen auf ähnliche Dokumente ("more like this!") erlauben Folksonomies auch Hinweise auf verwandte Nutzer und damit auf Communities ("more like me!").

    Abstract
    Gegenstand der empirischen Forschungsarbeit sind dargestellte wie empfundene Gefühle bei Videos. Sind Nutzer in der Lage, solche Gefühle derart konsistent zu erschließen, dass man deren Angaben für ein emotionales Videoretrieval gebrauchen kann? Wir arbeiten mit einem kontrollierten Vokabular für neun tionen (Liebe, Freude, Spaß, Überraschung, Sehnsucht, Trauer, Ärger, Ekel und Angst), einem Schieberegler zur Einstellung der jeweiligen Intensität des Gefühls und mit dem Ansatz der broad Folksonomy, lassen also unterschiedliche Nutzer die Videos taggen. Versuchspersonen bekamen insgesamt 20 Videos (bearbeitete Filme aus YouTube) vorgelegt, deren Emotionen sie indexieren sollten. Wir erhielten Angaben von 776 Probanden und entsprechend 279.360 Schiebereglereinstellungen. Die Konsistenz der Nutzervoten ist sehr hoch; die Tags führen zu stabilen Verteilungen der Emotionen für die einzelnen Videos. Die endgültige Form der Verteilungen wird schon bei relativ wenigen Nutzern (unter 100) erreicht. Es ist möglich, im Sinne der Power Tags die jeweils für ein Dokument zentralen Gefühle (soweit überhaupt vorhanden) zu separieren und für das emotionale Information Retrieval (EmIR) aufzubereiten.

    Abstract
    In einer szientometrischen bzw. informetrischen Studie werden internationale wie deutschsprachige Zeitschriften der Informations-/Bibliothekswissenschaft und -praxis mittels Zitationsanalyse und Expertenbefragung analysiert. Die zitatenanalytischen Kennwerte umfassen den Impact Factor, die Halbwertszeit, die Zitierfreudigkeit, die relative Häufigkeit von Zeitschriftenselbstreferenzen sowie Soziogramme der einflussreichen Periodika. Der Fragebogen erhebt die Lesehäufigkeit, die Einsetzbarkeit der gelesenen Journale im Tätigkeitsbereich, die Publikationstätigkeit und die Publikationspräferenz sowohl für alle Respondenten als auch für abgrenzbare Gruppen (Praktiker vs. Wissenschaftler, Bibliothekare vs. Dokumentare vs. Informationswissenschaftler, öffentlicher Dienst vs. Informationswirtschaft vs. andere Wirtschaftsunternehmen).
