    Abstract
    Bericht über die Arbeit einer Forschungsgruppe, die sich über ca. 15 Jahre mit Kreativität und Analogiefähigkeit von KI-Systemen (Künstlicher Intelligenz) beschäftigt haben. Die entscheidende Frage für Hofstadter und seine Crew, die Fluid Analogies Research Group, lautet: Können Computer Analogien erkennen, und ist nicht gerade diese Mustererkennung ein Zeichen von höherer Intelligenz? Was ist Kreativität anderes, als starre Formen, Sequenzen zu verflüssigen, um hinter das Geheimnis ihrer Zusammenhänge zu kommen und neue Muster bilden zu können? "Der liebe Gott würfelt nicht", meinte Einstein. Wenn er es dennoch täte, dann ergäbe die Zahlenfolge sicherlich ein Muster besonderer Art.

    Abstract
    Kostengünstige Massenspeicher und die zunehmende Vernetzung von Rechnern haben die Anzahl der Dokumente, auf die ein einzelnes Individuum zugreifen kann (bspw. Webseiten) oder die auf das Individuum einströmen (bspw. E-Mails), in den letzten Jahren rapide ansteigen lassen. In immer mehr Bereichen der Wirtschaft, Wissenschaft und Verwaltung nimmt der Bedarf an hochwertigen Information-Filtering und -Retrieval Werkzeugen zur Beherrschung der Informationsflut zu. Zur computergestützten Lösung dieser Problemstellung sind Modelle zur Repräsentation natürlichsprachlicher Dokumente erforderlich, um formale Kriterien für die automatisierte Auswahl relevanter Dokumente definieren zu können. Dominik Kuropka gibt in seiner Arbeit eine umfassende Übersicht über den Themenbereich der Suche und Filterung von natürlichsprachlichen Dokumenten. Es wird eine Vielzahl von Modellen aus Forschung und Praxis vorgestellt und evaluiert. Auf den Ergebnissen aufbauend wird das Potenzial von Ontologien in diesem Zusammenhang eruiert und es wird ein neues, ontologie-basiertes Modell für das Information-Filtering und -Retrieval erarbeitet, welches anhand von Text- und Code-Beispielen ausführlich erläutert wird. Das Buch richtet sich an Dozenten und Studenten der Informatik, Wirtschaftsinformatik und (Computer-)Linguistik sowie an Systemdesigner und Entwickler von dokumentenorientierten Anwendungssystemen und Werkzeugen.

    Abstract
    Kostengünstige Massenspeicher und die zunehmende Vernetzung von Rechnern haben die Anzahl der Dokumente, auf die ein einzelnes Individuum zugreifen kann (bspw. Webseiten) oder die auf das Individuum einströmen (bspw. E-Mails), in den letzten Jahren rapide ansteigen lassen. In immer mehr Bereichen der Wirtschaft, Wissenschaft und Verwaltung nimmt der Bedarf an hochwertigen Information-Filtering und -Retrieval Werkzeugen zur Beherrschung der Informationsflut zu. Zur computergestützten Lösung dieser Problemstellung sind Modelle zur Repräsentation natürlichsprachlicher Dokumente erforderlich, um formale Kriterien für die automatisierte Auswahl relevanter Dokumente definieren zu können. Dominik Kuropka gibt in seiner Arbeit eine umfassende Übersicht über den Themenbereich der Suche und Filterung von natürlichsprachlichen Dokumenten. Es wird eine Vielzahl von Modellen aus Forschung und Praxis vorgestellt und evaluiert. Auf den Ergebnissen aufbauend wird das Potenzial von Ontologien in diesem Zusammenhang eruiert und es wird ein neues, ontologie-basiertes Modell für das Information-Filtering und -Retrieval erarbeitet, welches anhand von Text- und Code-Beispielen ausführlich erläutert wird.     Abstract
    Dieses Buch handelt vom Wesen der menschlichen Intelligenz und davon, was es bedeuten würde, über 'Maschinen-Intelligenz' zu verfügen. Schon immer war es Ziel und Wunschtraum genialer Denker und Erfinder, die 'denkende Maschine' als Hilfsapparat für den Menschen zu konstruieren. Erst in unserer Zeit nähern wir uns mit Unterstützung des Computers der Verwirklichung der in der Tat hochfliegenden Pläne. Die Öffentlichkeit hat die Künstliche Intelligenz entdeckt, ist aber nicht ganz sicher, was das eigentlich ist. Schließlich müssen wir die Frage, was Computer können, parallel zu der Frage betrachten, WAS MENSCHEN KÖNNEN. Es fällt daher bis heute selbst den Fachleuten außerordentlich schwer, den Computer-Maschinen das Denken beizubringen.

    Abstract
    Das Gebiet der Wissenspräsentation und Inferenz umfaßt einen zentralen Bereich der Intellektik, d.h. des Gebietes der Künstlichen Intelligenz und der Kognitionswissenschaft. Es behandelt einerseits die Fragen nach einer formalen Beschreibung von Wissen jeglicher Art, besonders unter dem Aspekt einer maschinellen Verarbeitung in modernen Computern. Andererseits versucht es, das Alltagsschließen des Menschen so zu formalisieren, daß logische Schlüsse auch von Maschinen ausgeführt werden könnten. Das Buch gibt eine ausführliche Einführung in dieses umfangreiche Gebiet. Dem Studenten dient es im Rahmen einer solchen Vorlesung oder zum Selbststudium als umfassende Unterlage, und der Praktiker zieht einen großen Gewinn aus der Lektüre dieses modernen Stoffes, der in dieser Breite bisher nicht verfügbar war.
