Kapitel die "Darstellung von Klassifikationen und Thesauri", im wesentlichen aus den Beschreibungen der Hersteller zusammengestellt. Hier werden Dokumentationssprachen der Fachgebiete - Naturwissenschaften (3.1) und deren Spezialisierungen wie zum Beispiel "Biowissenschaften und Biotechnologie", "Chemie" oder "Umwelt und Ökonomie", aber auch "Mathematik und Informatik" (?) auf 189 Seiten vorgestellt, - Technik mit zum Beispiel "Fachordnung Technik", "Subject Categories (INIS/ ETDE) mit 17 Seiten verhältnismäßig knapp abgehandelt, - Wirtschaft mit "Branchen-Codes", "Product-Codes", "Länder-Codes"",Fachklas-sifikationen" und "Thesauri" ausführlich auf 57 Seiten präsentiert, - Patente und Normen mit zum Beispiel "Europäische Patentklassifikation" oder "International Patent Classification" auf 33 Seiten umrissen. Jedes Teilgebiet wird mit einer kurzen Beschreibung eingeleitet. Danach folgen die jeweiligen Beschreibungen mit den Merkmalen: "Anschrift des Erstellers", "Themen-gebiet(e)", "Sprache", "Verfügbarkeit", "An-wendung" und "Ouelle(n)". "Das Buch wendet sich an alle Information Professionals, die Dokumentationssprachen aufbauen und nutzen" heißt es in der Verlagsinformation. Zwar ist es nicht notwendig, die informationswissenschaftlichen Aspekte der Klassifikationen und Thesauri abzuhandeln, aber ein Hinweis auf die Bedeutung der Information und Dokumentation und/oder der Informationswissenschaft wäre schon angebracht, um in der Welt der Informations- und Wissenswirtschaft zu demonstrieren, welchen Beitrag unsere Profession leistet. Andernfalls bleibt das Blickfeld eingeschränkt und der Anschluss an neuere Entwicklungen ausgeblendet. Dieser Anknüpfungspunkt wäre beispielsweise durch einen Exkurs über Topic Map/Semantic Web gegeben. Der Verlag liefert mit der Herausgabe die ses Kompendiums einen nützlichen ersten Baustein zu einem umfassenden Verzeichnis von Thesauri und Klassifikationen."

- Abstract
- Mit dieser Arbeit wird untersucht, welche Möglichkeiten und Vorteile ein Wiki bei der Pflege und Weiterentwicklung eines Thesaurus bietet. Als Basis für diese Arbeit wird ein entsprechendes Wiki, der Standard-Thesaurus Wirtschaft (STW) und Einrichtungen an verschiedenen Standorten, die mit dem STW arbeiten (das sog. STW-Konsortium) herangezogen. Um die Untersuchungsergebnisse zu präsentieren und zu belegen, wird parallel dazu der Prototyp "Wikisaurus oeconomicus" entwickelt; er ist die praktische Umsetzung der hier beschriebenen Möglichkeiten und wird im Internet zur Verfügung gestellt. Die Arbeit gliedert sich in zwei wesentliche Bereiche. Zuerst wird in einem kurzen Abriss die Entwicklungsgeschichte der Dokumentationssprachen, insbesondere von Thesauri, im 20. Jhd. beschrieben. Darauf aufbauend folgt die Darstellung der Genese und der Struktur des STW sowie dessen Pflege und Weiterentwicklung. Der zweite Teil widmet sich dann dem eigentlichen Untersuchungsgegenstand: Um diesen sinnvoll vor- und darstellen zu können, erfolgt eine Einführung in die, zugegebenermaßen kurze Geschichte der WikiWelt. Dazu wird noch die Software MediaWiki, deren Möglichkeiten sowie die Theorie der Zusammenarbeit in Wikis beschrieben. Danach wird ein möglicher Einsatz von Wikitechnik bei der Pflege und Weiterentwicklung des STW beschrieben. Wie oben schon erwähnt, wird zur Präsentation der Ergebnisse im Inter-net, der Prototyp "Wikisaurus oeconomicus" entwickelt. Neben der reinen Präsentation soll so auch ein (exemplarischer) Eindruck über die Praktikabilität und Anwendbarkeit der Wiki-technik vermittelt werden.

- Abstract
- Moderne Verfahren des Information Retrieval verlangen nach aussagekräftigen und detailliert relationierten Dokumentationssprachen. Der selektive Transfer einzelner Modellierungsstrategien aus dem Bereich semantischer Technologien für die Gestaltung und Relationierung bestehender Dokumentationssprachen wird diskutiert. In Form einer Taxonomie wird ein hierarchisch strukturiertes Relationeninventar definiert, welches sowohl hinreichend allgemeine als auch zahlreiche spezifische Relationstypen enthält, die eine detaillierte und damit aussagekräftige Relationierung des Vokabulars ermöglichen. Das bringt einen Zugewinn an Übersichtlichkeit und Funktionalität. Im Gegensatz zu anderen Ansätzen und Überlegungen zur Schaffung von Relationeninventaren entwickelt der vorgestellte Vorschlag das Relationeninventar aus der Begriffsmenge eines bestehenden Gegenstandsbereichs heraus.

- Abstract
- Die verstärkte Diskussion über qualitativ bessere Such- und Erschließungsmethoden im Internet führt auch dazu, dass Thesauri und Klassifikation bei Fachanbietern und im wissenschaftlich-bibliothekarischen Bereich verstärkt wieder Thema und auch Gegenstand von Projekten geworden sind. Solche Konjunkturschwankungen sind ein bekanntes Phänomen, denn schon immer haben fachlich-methodische Instrumente in Zeiten technologischer Schübe schlechte Konjunktur. Wenn die technologischen Machbarkeiten dann kritisch überdacht werden müssen und die Probleme der Qualitätssicherung ins Auge fallen, rückt das Problem der Vermittlung technologischer Verfahren mit sach- und inhaltsbezogenen Anforderungen unweigerlich wieder stärker in den Mittelpunkt des Interesses'. Meine Ausführungen richten sich vor allem auf aktuelle Probleme der Produktion und Wiedergewinnung von Informationen oder präziser: von Fachinformationen, Fragen der Qualitätssicherung und die Rolle, die Klassifikationen und Thesauri in diesem Zusammenhang spielen oder spielen könnten. Insbesondere der Aspekt der Nutzerakzeptanz wird hier stärker thematisiert. Der Punkt nettere Ansätze wird etwas eingehender am Beispiel der Vernetzung verschiedener Thesauri und Klassifikationen mittels sogenannter Cross-Konkordanzen erläutert. Im Folgenden beziehe ich mich vor allem auf die Sozialwissenschaften und insbesondere die Erziehungswissenschaft. Dies ist der fachliche Background des Fachinformationssystem Bildung, und des Deutschen Bildungsservers in deren Kontext ich mit den hier angesprochenen Problemen befasst bin

- Abstract
- Angesichts aktueller und voraussichtlich in naher Zukunft startender Infrastrukturprojekte der Frauen/Gender-Informationseinrichtungen einerseits und der Gender Studies andererseits, soll im Folgenden auf den Sinn und die Notwendigkeit einer gemeinsamen gendersensiblen Dokumentationssprache hingewiesen werden. Dieser Beitrag entstand im Rahmen des Masterstudiums der Bibliotheks- und Informationswissenschaften (MALIS) an der Technischen Hochschule Köln und verfolgt das Ziel, Vorschläge für die Erarbeitung eines Gender Thesaurus zu entwickeln.

- Eutelis Consult ist eines der führenden Beratungsunternehmen auf dem Sektor der Telekommunikation und der Mehrwertdienste. Eutelis Consult erbringt national und international Beratungsdienstleistungen für Anbieter von Telekommunikations- und Mehrwertdiensten, für Netzbetreiber, Hersteller von Vermittlungssystemen und Endgeräten, Anwender und Nutzer von Telekommunikationsdiensten sowie öffentliche Auftraggeber. Weitere Beratungsschwerpunkte von Eutelis Consult konzentrieren sich auf die regulatorischen Rahmenbedingungen, Smartcardanwendungen, die Personalberatung sowie auf die Finanzierung junger Unternehmen in diesen Sektoren. - Abstract
- Die Dokumentare blicken heute auf eine rund hundertjährige Diskussion über die richtige klassifikatorische Erschließung von Dokumenten und ihren thematischen Inhalten zurück. Daneben hat sich die ISKO speziell der Frage nach der Organisation des in den Dokumenten enthaltenen Wissens durch Klassifikation, Kategorienbildung und Thesaurierung gewidmet. Dieser, durch die Möglichkeiten des Volltextretrievals zeitweilig etwas in den Hintergrund geratene Erfahrungsschatz, gewinnt durch die neuen sogenannten semantischen Thesauri eine ungeahnte Renaissance. Dabei ist der allgemeinen Aufmerksamkeit entgangen, dass die sich aus der Semiotik ableitende Entsprechung des semantischen Thesaurus, die des pragmatischen Thesaurus, völlig unbeachtet blieb. Eingehende Überlegungen zu dieser Thematik zeigen, dass es sich bei den semantischen Thesauri eigentlich um semiotische Thesauri handelt, weil sie beiden Aspekten, dem semantischen und dem pragmatischen, gerecht werden müssen. Thesauri sind in diesem Sinne die semiotische Schnittstelle zwischen den semantischen Objektbezeichnungen des Senders und der pragmatischen Begriffsbestimmung dieser Zeichen durch den Empfänger einer Nachricht. Es soll nun geprüft werden, ob und wieweit über die SGML- (Standard Generalized Markup Language) bzw. die XML-Philosophie (eXtensible Markup Language) Computern eine gewisse Begrifflichkeit vermittelbar ist
