- Abstract
- Millionen D-Mark werden jährlich in die Planung einer Utopie gesteckt, die einen Universalthesaurus aus der Basis der RSWK zum Ziel hat. Ein Erschließungssystem, das sich noch immer an gedruckten Katalogen orientiert. Statt einer breiteren Indexierung sind Bibliothekare gezwungen, Zeit und Geld für eine überholte intellektuelle Arbeit, für Koordination und für eine merkwürdige Diskussion über das enge Schlagwort aufzuwenden. Als Ergebnis finden wir bei der Recherche auf der CD-ROM-Version von BIBLIODATA lediglich 0,35 hilfreiche Schlagwörter der RSWK pro Dokument, mit so unspezifischen Begriffen wie Biologie und Mensch. Als Konsequenz eruieren wir also schätzungsweise 90% der Treffer einer Online-Recherche in BIBLIODATA aus den Titeln. Währenddessen entsteht in vielen Bibliotheken ein zunehmender Mangel an Erfahrung, Kenntnis und Wissenschaft in der Indexierung online-verfügbarer Datenbanken, die von Bibliothekaren produziert werden könnten, und ganze Bücher können weiterhin mit maximal für indizierten Themen gesucht werden. Die wirklich moderne Informationstechnologie ist allgemein verfügbar und sollte zumindest in einigen Bibliotheken nun auch Anwendung finden

- Abstract
- Es werden die Grundprobleme der Sacherschließung in Online-Katalogen dargestellt. Ein anschließendes Kapitel behandelt das Verhältnis von verbaler und klassifikatorischer Erschließung. Ein wichtiger Teil der Aussagen betrifft das Gebiet der verbalen Sacherschließung und damit das nationale Regelwerk: Es werden Vorschläge für eine Reform der RSWK im Hinblick auf die Erfordernisse der OPAC unterbreitet. Regelwerk und Normdatei (SWD) bilden dabei eine Einheit und werden zusammen betrachtet. Im vergangenen Jahr wurden die Ergebnisse der Expertengruppe mit dem Schwerpunkt Formalerschließung vorgelegt, nun folgen die Aussagen zur Sacherschließung, welche die Expertengruppe - in veränderter personeller Zusammensetzung unter Leitung von Dr. Friedrich Geißelmann, Regensburg - erarbeitet hat. Die bibliothekarische Öffentlichkeit ist aufgefordert, sich dazu bis zum Jahresende zu äußern. Beide Berichte beziehen sich aufeinander und versuchen, den Zusammenhang zwischen Formal- und Sacherschließung herzustellen. Vom gegenwärtigen Stand der Sacherschließung in deutschen Bibliotheken ausgehend - wozu auch durch die Gruppe im Frühjahr 1993 eine Umfrage in wissenschaftlichen und Öffentlichen Bibliotheken gemacht worden ist, werden die Grundprobleme der Sacherschließung in Online-Katalogen dargestellt. Ein anschließendes Kapitel behandelt das Verhältnis von verbaler und klassifikatorischer Erschließung. - Abstract
- Wenn man sich mit den neueren Entwicklungen der Vereinheitlichung und Zentralisierung der Verschlagwortung näher beschäftigt, kann man kaum umhin, eine gewisse kritische Distanz einzunehmen und immer wieder zu fragen, was wohl das Publikum davon halten mag, für das dieser bibliothekarische Aufwand betrieben wird. Die Bemühungen sind grundsätzlich zu befürworten, die Ergebnisse sind jedoch teilweise nicht zufriedenstellend. Ausführungen befassen sich in drei Abschnitten mit den RSWK, der SWD und den Anwendungen in der DB bzw. DNB, insbesondere im Hinblick auf die Fächer Germanistik und Philosophie sowie geistes- und kulturgeschichtliche Denkweisen

- Abstract
- Wie schon in der RSWK-Mitteilung Nr.4 angekündigt, wird hier ein Entwurf für die Erschließung von Schul- und Berufsschulbüchern vorgelegt ... Im Mittelpunkt stand dabei die Überlegung, in sich stimmige Lösungen für die Schulbücher anzubieten, die abeu auch gegenüber verwandten Bereichen, in denen ebenfalls für die verschiedenen Benutzer (z.B. Lehrer) Literatur angeboten wird, wie z.B. in der Pädagogik oder den philologischen Fächern, zu vergleichbaren Ergebnissen führen. Daher wurde entgegen etwa der Praxis in einigen RSWK-anwendenden Bibliotheken der Verwendung der Unterrichtsfächer als Schlagwörter der Vorzug vor den sachlichen Inhalten gegeben (also Englischunterricht / Schulbuch, nicht Englisch / Schulbuch). Auch wurde eine doppelte Berücksichtigung des sprachlichen Aspekts (z.B. in der Schlagwortkette Englisch / Lyrik / Geschichte 1900-1970 / Englischunterricht) hingenommen, um entsprechende philologische Fachliteratur unter einem identischen Einstieg in die Schlagwortkette anzubieten. - Abstract
- Die DFG-Empfehlungen zur Weiterentwicklung der überregionalen Literaturversorgung greifen bedeutende Veränderungen der politischen Verhältnisse sowie des Publikations- und Informationswesens auf. Die zentrale politische Veränderung, der es zu entsprechn gilt, sind die aus der Vereinigung der beiden deutschen Staaten resultierenden neuen Bedarfsanforderungen, die sich auch für den Wissenschafts- und Bibliotheksbereich ergeben und eine entsprechen Ressourcenverteilung notwendig machen. Es gilt, das bisher auf die Bibliotheken der alten Länder gestützte System der überregionalen Literaturversorgung auch auf wissenschaftliche Bibliotheken der neuen Länder auszudehnen und dieses System als Gemeinschaftsaufgabe der alten und neuen Länder weiterzuentwickeln. Weitere wichtige Veränderungen, die das System der überregionalen Litearturversorgung berücksichtigen soll, resultiren aus dem schnellen Wandel der Informationstechnik, der neue Kommunikations- und Publikationsformen mit sich bringt und sich unmittelbar auf die Literatur- und Informationsversorgung auswirkt. Für das System der überregionalen Literaturversorgung ergeben sich daraus neue Anforderungen und Dienstleistungen
