- Abstract
- Die vorliegende Arbeit untersucht am Beispiel des Studienfaches Biologie an der TU Darmstadt die Möglichkeiten der Vermittlung fachspezifischer Informationskompetenz als integralem Bestandteil der neuen Bachelor-Studiengänge durch die ULB Darmstadt und die Akzeptanz dieser Vermittlung durch die Professoren des Fachbereichs Biologie. Grundlage der Untersuchung bilden eine Einführung in die Entwicklung der Vermittlung von Informationskompetenz im Bibliothekswesen, eine Darstellung der spezifischen Anforderungen des Faches Biologie an die Vermittlung von Informationskompetenz, eine Beschreibung der Veranstaltungen zur Vermittlung dieser Schlüsselqualifikation im Fachbereich Biologie der TUD und eine Darlegung der Aktivitäten der ULB Darmstadt zur Vermittlung von Informationskompetenz sowie insbesondere die Ergebnisse leitfadengestützter qualitativer Interviews, die mit den Professorinnen und Professoren des Fachbereichs Biologie durchgeführt wurden. Die Ergebnisse der Untersuchung zeigen deutlich, dass Informationskompetenz nicht nur von den Bibliothekaren, sondern auch von den Professorinnen und Professoren als unabdingbare Schlüsselqualifikation für Studium und Forschung angesehen wird. Es wird festgestellt, welche Schulungszeitpunkte und -modelle von den Professorinnen und Professoren favorisiert werden. Die Ergebnisse zeigen aber auch die Schwierigkeiten bei der Vermittlung fachspezifischer Informationskompetenz in dem naturwissenschaftlichen Fach Biologie auf und lassen Probleme der Professorinnen und Professoren bei der Akzeptanz der Vermittlung durch die Bibliothek erkennen. Es wird notwendig sein, bei der Vermittlung von Informationskompetenz eine enge inhaltliche Verbindung zur universitären Lehre des Faches Biologie herzustellen.

- Abstract
- Die Arbeit geht dem Status quo der unternehmensweiten Suche in österreichischen Großunternehmen nach und beleuchtet Faktoren, die darauf Einfluss haben. Aus der Analyse des Ist-Zustands wird der Bedarf an Enterprise-Search-Software abgeleitet und es werden Rahmenbedingungen für deren erfolgreiche Einführung skizziert. Die Untersuchung stützt sich auf eine im Jahr 2009 durchgeführte Onlinebefragung von 469 österreichischen Großunternehmen (Rücklauf 22 %) und daran anschließende Leitfadeninterviews mit zwölf Teilnehmern der Onlinebefragung. Der theoretische Teil verortet die Arbeit im Kontext des Informations- und Wissensmanagements. Der Fokus liegt auf dem Ansatz der Enterprise Search, ihrer Abgrenzung gegenüber der Suche im Internet und ihrem Leistungsspektrum. Im empirischen Teil wird zunächst aufgezeigt, wie die Unternehmen ihre Informationen organisieren und welche Probleme dabei auftreten. Es folgt eine Analyse des Status quo der Informati-onssuche im Unternehmen. Abschließend werden Bekanntheit und Einsatz von Enterprise-Search-Software in der Zielgruppe untersucht sowie für die Einführung dieser Software nötige Rahmenbedingungen benannt. Defizite machen die Befragten insbesondere im Hinblick auf die übergreifende Suche im Unternehmen und die Suche nach Kompetenzträgern aus. Hier werden Lücken im Wissensmanagement offenbar. 29 % der Respondenten der Onlinebefragung geben zu-dem an, dass es in ihren Unternehmen gelegentlich bis häufig zu Fehlentscheidungen infolge defizitärer Informationslagen kommt. Enterprise-Search-Software kommt in 17 % der Unternehmen, die sich an der Onlinebefragung beteiligten, zum Einsatz. Die durch Enterprise-Search-Software bewirkten Veränderungen werden grundsätzlich posi-tiv beurteilt. Alles in allem zeigen die Ergebnisse, dass Enterprise-Search-Strategien nur Erfolg haben können, wenn man sie in umfassende Maßnahmen des Informations- und Wissensmanagements einbettet.

- Abstract
- Welche qualitativen Verbesserungsmöglichkeiten bieten Mailinglisten für den bibliothekarischen Informationsdienst? Nach einem Überblick über Aufgaben und Formen bibliothekarischer Informationsdienstleistungen und einer Einführung in Mailinglisten für den Informationsdienst wird in dieser Arbeit exemplarisch die im Juli als deutschsprachigen Pendant zu Stumpers-L für Auskunftsbibliothekare gegründete Mailingliste 'RABE' (Recherche und Auskunft in bibliothekarischen Einrichtungen) beschrieben und analysiert. Dazu werden die Ergebnisse zweier empirischer Untersuchungen herangezogen: einer im März 1999 durchgeführten Umfrage unter den Listenmitgliedern und einer Auswertung der im WWW-Archiv von RABE bis Februar 1999 gespeicherten Listenbeiträge. Unter anderem wurde dabei die institutionelle und geographische Herkunft der Listenmitglieder, ihr Nutzungsverhalten (Aktivitätsprofile), ihre Erfahrungen mit RABE und die zur Beantwortung von Auskunftsfragen verwendeten Informationsquellen untersucht. Abschließend erfolgt eine Bewertung von RABE als Instrument im bibliothekarischen Informationsdienst

- Abstract
- Verschiedene Studien belegen, dass vor allem Studierende oft keine ausreichenden Kennt-nisse, Fähigkeiten und Fertigkeiten besitzen, um das zunehmende Angebot elektronischer Informationsressourcen zu überschauen und effektiv zu nutzen. Besonders im Bereich der wissenschaftlichen Bibliotheken werden deshalb zahlreiche Schulungsveranstaltungen zur Verbesserung der Informationskompetenz durchgeführt. Um den veränderten Bedürfnissen der Nutzer nach einer größeren Flexibilität hinsichtlich ihrer Lern- und Arbeitsorganisation gerecht zu werden, bedarf es der Schaffung zusätzlicher, zeit- und ortsunabhängiger Schu-lungsangebote. In der vorliegenden Arbeit werden die entscheidenden Faktoren für einen erfolgreichen Einsatz von E-Learning-Anwendungen benannt und unter Berücksichtigung dieser Kriterien ein Online-Tutorial zur Recherche in den Fachdatenbanken der Elektro-technik, Elektronik und Nachrichtentechnik an der SLUB Dresden konzipiert. Der Pla-nungsphase schloss sich die technische Umsetzung an.

- Abstract
- Die Darstellung der theoretischen Grundlagen, die zu einer strukturierten und durchdachten Benutzerschulung führen, basiert hauptsächlich auf anglo-amerikanischer Literatur mit dem Schwerpunkt bei den Situationen der Universitätsbibliotheken. Die praktische Planung, Entwicklung und Organisation des Benutzerschulungsprogramms der New Mexico State University (NMSU) in Alamogordo nach der Lehrmethode Workbook wird dargestellt. Ferner werden die Benutzerschulungsangebote einer Bewertung unterzogen, inwieweit jene die in der Literatur beschriebenen Kriterien erfüllen, auch hier auf der Basis des Library Skills Workbook der Bibliothek, Abschließend folgt ein Ausblick auf neuere Tendenzen in der Benutzschulung in den USA und die Anwendbarkeit der theoretischen Grundlagen in Deutschland

- Abstract
- Das Konzept Informationskompetenz entwickelt sich im deutschsprachigen Raum seit den 1990er-Jahren zu einem Schlüsselbegriff des Bildungs- und Bibliothekswesens. Es handelt sich um einen Transfer des Konzepts "information literacy", welches im angloamerikanischen Raum bereits seit den 1980er-Jahren etabliert ist und allgemein für eine Fähigkeit im Umgang mit Information benutzt wird. Der Informationsbegriff als Bezugspunkt der Fähigkeit im Umgang mit Information wird in dieser Arbeit etymologisch, nachrichtentechnisch, zeichentheoretisch und als Grundbegriff der Informationswissenschaft betrachtet. Der medienhistorische Zusammenhang wird in einer Untersuchung zum Begriffsaufkommen nachgewiesen und analysiert. Die Entwicklung des Konzepts wird von seinem ersten Aufkommen bis zu neueren zielgruppenfokussierten Anwendungen wie der Informationskompetenz in Unternehmen (IKU) nachgezeichnet. Als Beispiel aus der Praxis wird das Berliner Projekt "Informationskompetenz als Schlüsselqualifikation für lebenslanges Lernen von Hochschulabsolventen in kleinen und mittleren Unternehmen" (2005-2008) betrachtet. Die Untersuchung der Verwendung des Begriffes sowie seiner praktischen Wirkungen sollen im Sinne der Pragmatischen Maxime einen Beitrag zur Begriffsklärung leisten. Trotz der starken Verbreitung dieses Konzepts zeichnet es sich durch terminologische Unklarheit und einen permanenten Diskurs zu dessen Inhalten und Bedeutungen dieses Begriffs aus. Die Arbeit dokumentiert die Lücke zwischen der theoretischen informationswissenschaftlichen Konzeption und der Anwendung im Bildungs- und Bibliotheksbereich und formuliert in diesem Kontext Desiderate für die Informationswissenschaft.

- Abstract
- Die Masterarbeit befasst sich mit einer besonderen Form der Vermittlung von Informationskompetenz: dem bibliothekarischen Online-Tutorial. Nach einer Einführung in das Thema Informationskompetenz bzw. Vermittlung von Informationskompetenz wird versucht, vor dem Hintergrund des übergeordneten Themas E-Learning eine Typologie des Online-Tutorials zu erstellen und einen quantitativen Überblick über den Einsatz von Tutorials an deutschen Hochschulbibliotheken zu geben. Aufbauend auf der Zusammenstellung eines Katalogs von Analyse- und Bewertungskriterien für Online-Tutorials werden drei ausgewählte Tutorials, die als besonders zukunftsträchtig und vorbildlich gelten können, einer bewertenden Analyse unterzogen. Die Master's Thesis zeigt, dass Online-Tutorials potenziell eine effiziente und effektive Form der Vermittlung von Informationskompetenz darstellen, auch wenn sie den Auskunftsbibliothekar oder den "teaching librarian" nie vollständig ersetzen können. Außerdem wird deutlich, dass sich trotz einiger herausragender Beispiele das deutsche Hochschulbibliothekswesen nur zögerlich des Online-Tutorials annimmt, wobei die Scheu vor dem ggf. beträchtlichen Entwicklungsaufwand und mangelnde Kooperation die Haupthindernisse für eine flächendeckende Verbreitung sein dürften.
