    Abstract
    An 2 biowissenschaftlichen Einrichtungen der Grundlagenforschung, dem Max-Delbrück-Centrum für Molekulare Medizin, Berlin-Buch und dem Leibniz-Institut für Neurobiologie, Magdeburg, wurden 1997 bzw. 1998 Nutzerbefragungen durchgeführt. Obwohl die untersuchten Gruppen beträchtliche Altersunterschiede aufwiesen, ergeben sich einheitliche Trends: für etwa 2/3 der Wissenschaftler ist gegenwärtig die Nutzung von Printmedien und elektronischen Informationsofferten gleichwertig, während etwa 15% der Befragten letzteren den Vorzug geben. Bei der Datenbanknutzung ist festzustellen, daß MEDLINE die überragende Position sowohl bei der CD-ROM als auch Online im Internet einnimmt

    Abstract
    Das menschliche Denken organisiert sich ständig in komplexen Wechselwirkungen zwischen Emotionen und Erkenntnissen. Für das Verständnis dieser Prozesse schlägt Ciompi ein Modell vor, da über die vertraute kausale Logik weit hinausführt Emotion und Kognition wirken zusammen in einem unablässigen Prozeß der Selbstschöpfung, die sich mit ihr eigener Kraft wieder und wieder selbstähnlich hervorzubringen vermag. Erstmals in der Geschichte des Denkens über das menschliche Denken stehen Philosophie, Psychologie und die jüngsten Erkenntnisse der Neurobiologie nicht mehr unvermittelt nebeneinander.     Abstract
    Seit seinem Erscheinen 1923 liegt dieses zum Standardwerk gewordene Handbuch von Georg Schneider zum zweiten Mal in veränderter Gestalt vor. Die von Friedrich Nestler nun völlig neu bearbeitete Ausgabe behält den Umfang der letzten, fünften Auflage von 1969 bei, nimmt aber die sehr zahlreichen Neuerscheinungen aus reichlich 6 Jahrzehnten sowie die elektronischen verzeichnisse auf und trennt sich weitgehend von älterer Literatur. Dafür sind die Kapitel übersichtlicher angeordnet, um den Stoff strukturell zu straffen, indem die allgemeinen Kataloge, die Bibliographien der Zeitschriften, der Gesellschaftsschriften, der Hochschul- und Schulschriften sowie der amtlichen und der privaten Drucke anders zugeordnet sind.     Abstract
    Millionen D-Mark werden jährlich in die Planung einer Utopie gesteckt, die einen Universalthesaurus aus der Basis der RSWK zum Ziel hat. Ein Erschließungssystem, das sich noch immer an gedruckten Katalogen orientiert. Statt einer breiteren Indexierung sind Bibliothekare gezwungen, Zeit und Geld für eine überholte intellektuelle Arbeit, für Koordination und für eine merkwürdige Diskussion über das enge Schlagwort aufzuwenden. Als Ergebnis finden wir bei der Recherche auf der CD-ROM-Version von BIBLIODATA lediglich 0,35 hilfreiche Schlagwörter der RSWK pro Dokument, mit so unspezifischen Begriffen wie Biologie und Mensch. Als Konsequenz eruieren wir also schätzungsweise 90% der Treffer einer Online-Recherche in BIBLIODATA aus den Titeln. Währenddessen entsteht in vielen Bibliotheken ein zunehmender Mangel an Erfahrung, Kenntnis und Wissenschaft in der Indexierung online-verfügbarer Datenbanken, die von Bibliothekaren produziert werden könnten, und ganze Bücher können weiterhin mit maximal für indizierten Themen gesucht werden. Die wirklich moderne Informationstechnologie ist allgemein verfügbar und sollte zumindest in einigen Bibliotheken nun auch Anwendung finden
